Crazy to think this iPhone was also the one they've used in gta 5 for the past 10 years

I would've been completely fine if apple just said "hey these features would make the iphone too slow so we gimped it for the older models.
    I think that's 100% okay.

okay here's an idea, google could come out with a new model for older phones "we've disabled these features out of the box but if you want to enable them, it'll warn you that it may be slow or consume more battery life"

8 years out of a phone isn't too terribly bad for android because android just keeps lasting. I had the S3 up until 2017. the only reason I couldn't keep using it was because it wasn't getting updates and apps were starting to freak out, and the camera quit working at some point. maybe more up to date software could prevent it from getting that bad.

I know most people don't actually care about their phone being a tad slow as long as it does the bare essentials. this phone could easily outlast a few battery replacements in it's lifetime by the time google plans on killing it.
but I could also say that google LOVES killing products or services the moment they're inconvenienced, so I'd be worried that they wouldn't actually go though for 8 years, I'd say 6-7 years max.

Oh ya! The hardware from companies like Samsung tend to last for quite a while. The issue has always been the software support. Mainly cause every manufacturer add their own stuff to android and then don't stay ahead of the updates/maintenance. Motorola is also guilty of that!

To be fair the iPhone 6s got 7 years of support and it still runs super smoothly. I’m sure whatever did for that phone would be repeatable

Yeah I have a 6s I use for music and FaceTime and it runs great to this day. Replaced the battery a couple years ago and could definitely see it being a perfectly serviceable fault driver for someone okay with the smaller screen.

@laibandlim4004 the 6s got iOS updates, but that means that patches and security were coming out for it for 7 years. Right up until iOS 16
