We all appreciate the names and zones on the screen so very much. It can be so frustrating to admire a plant shown to us only to be left in the dark about it. Hi Holly and Griffin.
Yes, we do.
Your videos always make me want to immediately go out and work on my garden. I love the variety of plants you have. Oh, and I planted some giant Agastache this year and it's doing wonderful! It makes me so happy to see the bees and hummers enjoying it.
I continue to marvel at how much you've accomplished in a relatively short period of time. Such an inspiration!
GORGEOUS! It's so nice to see all these plants maturing and performing. I remember when they were so much smaller.
Why do I love Holly so much? She is the epitome of the old grumpy curmudgeon in dog years. Wherever you are, that's where she wants to be. Also, the point of this video... the garden...it looks great!
These videos are so appreciated in the middle of winter in Michigan.
I must be doing something right as I’m seeing a lot of bees, butterflies and humming birds in my yard this year. 👌
That's awesome!!
Same here. The Liatris are the stars of the show. Continuously loaded with pollinators.
Holly is such a sweet dog. I couldn't keep my eye off of the window where Griffin was... haha... what a rascal. Hope to see more of him soon. Great landscape Jim. I love looking at all of the plants and watching them mature. Thanks for sharing.
It's interesting to see how each of the plants mature and how they are liking their spot in the garden. It's beautiful Jim. Love seeing sweet Holly and hope to see Griffin soon. 💜
I like the plant IDs and the hummingbird was hovering behind you😎
I have a gomphrena potted on my front porch. I love sitting outside and watching the bees and butterflies visit it!
Thank you for including the plant names, varieties.and hardiness zones so consistently in your videos. Seeing them go from initial planting into maturity is also extremely helpful. I can see your vision now in mid-summer, and it’s stunning!
Everything looks so good! I love these detailed tours!! So much great content and very informative! Thank you!
Everything looks so healthy and green. Holly sure is a good girl.
Always informative and inspirational..... Thanks, from Long Island NY
Holly loves her yard. Hi Griffon! Your plants are gorgeous!
Someday I will have a yard like yours Jim. It really is beautiful. Hi Holly. :) TY for sharing. Have a nice weekend.
Gardens is looking exceptional ! Love your tours ! Always very informative ! Holly is always the star !
It is nice to see hummingbirds in your garden. I have one or two that visit my patio garden. I also have a hummingbird feeder that I keep filled for them.
Thanks for the tour, Jim. My husband is building a terraced garden space along the slope by our driveway that we will view every time we sit down to eat. I am looking for plants that will carry us over the entire year. I always get some great ideas from you. I keep a list for when my kids want to know what to give me for any occasion. Added several to my list this morning. Hoping for the 'Lemon Glow" camellia. I put it at the top of my list.
I could watch your garden tours on loops, just getting more and more ideas. I’m trying to replace boring boxwoods in clay soil. Just happy to see all your healthy clay soil plants.
JIM I WISH I HAD 5% OF THE KNOWLEDGE YOU HAVE ABOUT FLOWERS 🌺 AND PLANTS 🪴 YOU ARE A INCREDIBLE MAN AND I APPRECIATE AND ADMIRE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND YOUR EXPERTISE, SUCH A BEAUTIFUL AND WONDERFUL GARDEN !!!!!
I love all the details! Thanks for doing that.
Loving your plants and all the information and your narration is so interesting. Sweet Holly with that precious grey face ❤️❤️😊
Love your yard tours! Keep them coming. Say hi to Holly!
I’m in the Chicago area, zone 5b, and sowed verbena bonariensis seeds in my garden about five years ago. I’ve never had to do it since. They self sow every year and are great see-through plants. The pollinators love it!
I was just introduced to this plant this week and loved it! I hope to get some seeds or a plant for next year. I’m in Iowa, zone 5b as well! Glad to know yours are coming back each year!😊
@@janebentrott5984 Hi Jane! If you like, I can collect seeds from mine and mail them to you in September. Just remind me because I’ll likely forget if you don’t.
@@heatherhereshegrows that would be great! I will be in touch later. I just subscribed you your channel! Love your back yard!,😎
@@janebentrott5984 Thank you!
Been watching your videos for a few months and I love them! The transformation of your little place is fantastic! I’m a beginner gardener and learn a lot from your videos and from Linda Vater. You two are my top watched TH-cam channels. I’m in Northern California and it’s super hot and dry out here zone 9b I believe. I love the fence and just everything and your furry garden helper too! Your garden is lovely!
Jim…Yet, another informative video. The front yard looks just as awesome as the back!👍🏾👊🏾😁
So many great performing plants in your garden, really fond of those Agastache plants!
Beautiful Jim so many beautiful plants 🪴🌺🪴
Your yard looks great, Jim! And I'm learning about lots of plants from your videos. Thank you.
That's a great picture of you and Holly in the thumbnail 🙂
Excellent video Jim. Thoroughly enjoyed the amount of plant diversity packed into this small yard space!!
Love your garden! It's inspirational!
Another great video Jim. Please keep them coming
Everything is so beautiful, absolutely love yr dog
Always enjoy the tours of the garden.
I’ve never planted celosia or gomphrena, but I find the combo of those shapes and colors to be *really* pleasing. Making a note to steal that idea for next year. 😁
Thank you once again for sharing your beautiful garden. I happily admit to having landscape/plant/garden envy in spades 🤣🤣 I don’t have much in terms of a spring flowering garden; I much prefer pushing as many late blooming plants as possible in to fall/early winter. My only complaint is that many are still flowering as the snow’s falling and I’m usually always rushing, and freezing, as I try to complete fall garden clean up! 🤣🤣🤣🇨🇦
Coming along nicely Jim !
i was just going to ask about the fence and started researching when you started talking about it. Is so cute.
I had a cosmos that grew very tall last year too never bloomed. Not sure what happened. Love your tours
Jim, Who is doing all the great camera work for you, and will you give them some recognition? I know how hard it is to be good at that part of producing content and would like to compliment him or her. It really does make for great content. Thanks.
Looking good Jim!
Gorgeous plants everything always so neat and tidy! Jim you are very dedicated to yoyr landscaping!
Garden is looking great! Lot of my plants died from the freeze this year. I have a lot of open spaces now in my garden. I waited to see what was going to wake up this year, some did/didn't. I'm going to wait for the fall and spring to plant again.
Love this thanks Jim!
Enjoyed every minute!💚💚
Beautiful & inspirational. Thank you.
Great tours expanding my zone 10 options building up ideas to plant winter perennials in SW Florida. Thanks Jim
Your garden is amazing and I love your dog Holly...
Beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Everything is looking so nice!
Looks great ☀️🌸
Smoke bush…. I wanted to add these as a screen on the back corner of my yard. Can’t find them this year. I’ll just admire your smoke bush💜
Yes on the videos just on salvia! i think tango and caradonna are very nice together
Jim I love your you tube videos! Thank you for sharing. Although our soil is quite different I too am in zone 7 only in SW Oklahoma. I find your advice very useful
Great tour. Everything looks great.
Your lawn looks amazing!
Jim, you mentioned that because of your clay soil, you used something called expanded slate to plant the Daphne 'Aureo Marginata' in. What exactly is this expanded slate, and what does it do for clay soil? If it helps the soil drain better, I really need to use it in my rock-hard clay soil. Any enlightenment you, or your subscribers, could share would be extremely helpful! Thanks in advance. ~Margie
I love these different salvias, hard to find them in my place. I've tried to find them but all in vain, would love to have them and continue searching for them.
My bee balm is about done for the year. It seeds itself well though. I am letting it go, it is spreading through some irises. Since they bloom at different times it is working well for me. I may cut some of it back, maybe i can get some more blooms later.
Thank you for your advice Wednesday. Not much of a change yet on the white pillar hibiscus after the chelated iron. I will give it two more days then try it again as my dosage may have been off. If that doesn't work my plan is to dig them up in late February, mound them up higher, add permatil, then cut them back by a third. If that doesn't work it's time for distylium or a native that likes sun and wet feet.
Could you post where you get the Agapanthus?
Can you do a vid on Shasta Viburnum pls . I have one that's about 3-4 years old and it hasn't bloomed ever. I live in Zone 8b ( Dallas Texas )
looks nice, I'd want to stain or paint the fence though because it looks unfinished, it could be black, white, green, gray, dark brown
Did you dig in your stone pavers? Looks great.
Beautiful 🌸🌻🌺
Jim, I cannot seem to find the traditional nandina that is leggy and tall for purchase anymore. Are they still available or have they gone out of fashion for the newer varieties? I would like to spot apply a few of these along my fence line for their flowy appearance and to give just a touch of privacy in these areas, as well as sun/shade and evergreen qualities. I have some in my front yard that are about 30 years old and I do know about the controversy regarding how invasive they can be, but I love them anyway. Are there any good substitutes that have these same features? Thanks so much! (Zone 9b, Northern California).
What’s your thought on water features? In ground or above.
I really love the agapanthus but I haven’t seen them at local nurseries here in Raleigh.
Your unidentified buddleia looks like ‘Ellen’s Blue’ to me.
This just showed up for me so I know the comment is way late, but I think your unknown buddleia might be nanho purple. It reminds me of one I used to have.
My mother in law cut down a huge oak tree gave me lots morning shade. Now I have nothing in this dude. Bright bright sun. What tree can I plant ornamental that can give me a little shade snd they would be almond a driveway. At least 3-4 different kinds that grow quickly.
Love your garden. Gives me inspiration. What are some of the worst pests you deal with? Do you spray for pests?
Ladies and gentlemen, the regal Miss Holly. Poor Griffin, your day is coming. Jim, are you or do you pinch your asters? I’ve got one that I planted last winter and has been bloom since April
....can you just tie down/curve some of the branches/stems to other branches on the Royal Purple Smoke Tree? ....so it doesn't look too much like it's looking for the sun?
Did u start your gomphrena from seed?
I have that Arizona Prime agastache, I hope it gets a lot bigger next year, it's a bit of a disappointment.
Beautiful!
Jim, if I deadhead my liatris will it push out one more flush of blooms? Great video! Your garden is gorgeous! ❤️
That large Shasta viburnum would be pretty limbed up to a tree form.
What is the pink round clover-looking flower in the foreground when you're talking about Pentas, around 10:42? Thanks
My salvia Caradonna is a vigorous grower, but keeps splaying. I’m zone 6B. It is year two of growth and I cut it back twice a year because of the splay. Any suggestions?
Can volcanic rock be substituted for expanded slate for clay soil ?
I saw a groundhog eating my plants today! Any suggestions on how I can convince the groundhog to go elsewhere?
The upright buddleia that was existing in the garden when you became owner, could it be a Lochinch? I'd like to find a Lochinch but I believe it is now a parent of some of the hybrids.
Replying to my own reply: my Lochinch of long ago had the most prominent orange eyes and was super fragrant, more than any buddleia I know today, which I do not find fragrant at all. It was huge and upright and died during a 4-5 day 105 degree stretch we had in Raleigh about 20 years ago. I saved the lower trunk because it looks like a piece of driftwood. Still have it and it is part of a tilandsia collection. You're bringing back memories, Jim!
👋😃
👍❤️😊
No butterflies at all this year. Very few hummingbirds. Absolutely no rain for months.
I thought this was a Judy Garland Tour.
