While there are many Neve clones, the BAE brand is said to be the "closest" to the original, with great low end. You'll often see Neve clones such as the BAE 1073 and BAE 1084 used on drums in the studio, especially where the low end matters. In fact, some engineers liken the BAE brand to be the best Neve clones on the market. This model, the BAE 1028, is built on top of the classic Neve 1084 model with additional EQ points. We are going to deep dive this Preamp and EQ with: * Tons of sound samples * Recommended EQ points when recording a Bass Drum/Kick Drum * Point out the quirks with this model * And help you decide if you could get away with a cheaper unit
For "singy" vocals, an Advanced Audio CM47ve (clone of a Neumann U-47). That will run into an Avalon 737. You "screamy" vocals, a Shure SM7B, into this BAE 1028. In both cases, they then run through 2 Distressors - the first in "Opto" mode, and the 2nd in 4:1.
the verb is not helping.fake sounding and midrange heavy. not flattering, Couldn't hear the effect of the pre that much, it sounds like all room mics. no definition anywhere. I know, drums are hard.. keep trying

Literally just bought this unit this week 😂. Should arrive in a few days. This is an awesome informative video
Thanks! Hope you make some great recordings with that!
Great rundown of the unit. Very informative. 👍
Thank you : )
Fantastic video.
Hey, what are you recording your choice with? Sounds great!

@@drumdrumdrum oh, I meant the narration on your videos.
Ah. That's a Tascam DR-10L. And I do a heavy amount of EQ and compression to it in the computer.
Thanks for the video! Really cool sound but I think I hear some phase issue. Also is there a little echo on the left side?
The only phase correction on this project was with the overheads. Usually I'd have multiple kick tracks with phase (or really time) correction.
@@drumdrumdrum Thanks! What's that echo on the left side? Sounds kinda cool
I think that's just natural room reverb/slap being picked up by the overheads.
@@drumdrumdrum Thank you
