I had to do this for a client today. I had trouble getting a full-size DDIN to fit (one with a CD/DVD player). Could NOT get the thing to sit properly in the dash without having to angle it down slightly to avoid rear obstructions (ducts).
As a result, I cannot get the climate controls to sit high enough in order to put the bottom two fasteners in for the aftermarket bezel. Drove me insane. Have them coming back in on Thursday for some speakers, gonna try to fix it somehow then.
Turned out looking very nice. Good job!
How did you get the heated seat off the stock compartment do they disconnect
Great job
When you move the heated seats down, do you lose ability to access the cigarette lighter? I use the port to charge my phone will driving, just wondering if I’d need to explore other options.
You will lose the cigarette lighter but you can install another one in this mounting piece
can you fit a 6.95" spoke?
My son with 2006 325i we will likely be putting in a Sony unit similar to the one you installed. His car has the factory subs under the seats, but also wants to put a subwoofer enclosure in the trunk with an amp, but also wants to keep/continue using the factory subs. Do you know if that can that be done?
Yes but I would not advise trying to do that yourself
Why does it look like the radio panel is not sitting flush with the dash opening - dont look good sticking out?
Hey quick question did you guys switch out the stock speakers and if so what set up did you go with?
We do replace the speakers in most e90s we do. We do sell replacement speakers if you are interested
Which dash kit did u use?
Original like more
Nice Job. Could you provide a link of the parts used? And tell me if the car will lose any stock function? I have no heated seats
check out pac audio for the wiring harness and metra electronics for the dash kit. you should not lose any of the stock functions.
I have a e92 2011 328i xdrive. My anti slip buttons for my awd are located on the bottom
is the sound significantly better with the receiver by itself?
Yes much better and so much more updated technology
Hey do you know if a head unit with 6.5in depth would fit?
I am not sure to be honest
Good morning, I have a problem with the radio ... not working with the steering wheel, which may be the reason, please, answer the car is a bmw e90 2009

Just installed the xav ax7000 in my 328i with the same harness you have and the volume is extremely low. I have to turn the volume to max (50) for it to be at a normal level. Is this something you've experienced with your unit?
Never encountered that problem. If you are using a pacaudio harness I would contact their technical support because it sounds like it could be a setting or something wrong. They have an amazing technical Dept.
That's likely because you don't have an amplifier in that specific trim, and you likely used the RCA outputs on your headunit.
If there is no amplifier, then you need to cut those RCAs off that are coming from the PAC harness and wire the speaker works into it directly (white, white/blk, gray, gray/blk, etc etc)
EDIT: Forgot to explain WHY -- when you use the pre-outs on the back, those are low-level outputs. They're meant for outputting a low-level signal to an amplifier so that the amp can do its job and beef-up the signal before it hits the speakers. If you're outputting a low-level signal and there is no amp in line, your audio is going to be extremely quiet or, in some cases, almost non-existent.
Similarly, if you did NOT use low-level outputs when there is an amp in line, you'll have OBNOXIOUSLY loud audio at low volume levels because the amp is beefing up an already hi-level signal.
Hopefully, that helps you understand.
Did you have sound right away or have to change something in the settings or on the PAC interface. Everything is working fine except I have no sound through the rca.
You might have fiber optic? Do you have a speaker in the center of your dash?
I don’t. No navigation built in. I’m curious if I might need to just cut the rcas from the interface and wire them directly to the Sony harness.
@@yekim12 you should not have to cut the harnesses. It has nothing to do with navigation. If you have a speaker in the center of youror if it is a sedan and you have two speaker grills on your back doors you have fiber optic
I think there’s a setting on the Sony deck I have that, is switched on or off I need to change. The interface is working fine. Thanks for the quick replies. Great vid!
Did you run the yellow wire to the battery or tap into the fuse box. Or did you splice into the PAC yellow wire?
We ran to the battery because if you don't every few weeks it will reset the unit because of constant wire losing power up front periodically
Yup that’s what I ended up doing. Thank you!
Can you install this in the bmw e93 convertible? I don’t like the radio with the two knobs, it would be good if the head unit covers the whole deck.
Yes you can
@@octanetvchannel
Thanks
Do I have to have the PAC thing. ?
I didn’t need anything crazy for my x3 but I I have an 07 328i and I’m trying to do the cheapest thing possible... the car is just my little fun car I don’t need anything crazy or fancy I just want my music that’s all
Oh and btw I just attempted some retrofitting in my old 5series it was an 08 and I was having to deal with I drive and computer things to find out that it’s extremely technical
My 328s interface is similar to my x3
Can you pleas tell me from where you got the seat heater fascia ? It has been a year that im in search of it
Metra electronics
Do i need fiber optic decoder or extension cable ?
I am so glad that I came across this video because I had been searching eBay for months for the seat heater relocator. Obviously I didn't find it because I didn't know the name of the part. Thank you for listing your parts and sources.
hey i have a 2008 328i and i just did this radio swap but after an hour or so the memory of the radio reset and i have to re set the time and date along with the demo setting. would youi be able to tell me why that is plz?
Some BMW e90s you will have to run the yellow wire directly to the battery. It does a sleep which causes it to reset. This is only on a few vehicles but you must have the one that does this. The only fix is to take the yellow wire and run it directly to the battery so it's constant all the time
@@octanetvchannel THANK YOU!!!
Would the installation be the same for the Xav-va3000
*ax3000
Yes it would
Hey, I have a 07 3 series! I have a factory amp in the back. The fiber optic cable is not connected to the amp. The Pac harness all I need???
Do you have a center channel speaker up in the top of your dash? That will usually tell you if you have the logic 7
@@octanetvchannel There is a vent there with no center speaker.
I'm good right?
@@courtneyphillips1157 you should be good
This also works with a logic 7 system with optical fiber?
Have you had this question answered? I need to know myself!
Yes you can do all these things with the fiber-optic but you will need a fiber optic converter
It'll require a different harness setup. The PAC one he's using doesn't account for HiFi or Top-Fi systems, iirc.
what did you do to the fiber optic
This vehicle did not have fiber optic
Do your steering controls still work?
Yes if you get the correct wiring harness that we use in this video which is in the description of the video we have a link
Can i use the same wiring harness if my factory amp uses fiber optic cable
No it will not work with fiber optic
How do I know if the factory amp uses fiber optic
@@jacobhaven690 look at the dash on the top and see if you have a center speaker or mesh for a center speaker. If you do not have that center speaker you do not have fiber optic
@@octanetvchannel mine has that speaker. Any suggestions on where to find a wiring harness that would support mine
@@jacobhaven690 then unfortunately don't make any harnesses. The only thing you would be able to use is a fiber optic to RCA converter. There's only a few companies that make them. That would be the only way you would make sound work with your factory amplifier. Otherwise you would have to bypass the factory amplifier
were is the control for the heated seat?
It moves down into the front part of the center console above the shifter where the cigarette lighter is
@@octanetvchannel were i can buy the Part
Does the pac work with any stereo???
Yes
OMG, why is it people have to add the annoying back ground music to videos on TH-cam?? So incredibly annoying!! I JUST wanna listen to instructions... NOT MUSAK!!
I was thinking about getting a stereo put in for my 2008 335i at a shop and they were talking about charging me $1,400 forget that! I’m much better off doing it myself
Great job but would look way better with a Kenwood widescreen unit.
Thats what i got buddy Dmx125bt
@@nydrell1969 did all the wiring harnesses for the same or do you have to get a different setup
Hello! How i get the Radio please
Underneath the video in the description there will be a link to the Sony radio. Let me know if you have any questions
Ergh I’m having the hardest time finding someone to do this on my car. EXACTLY what I wanted and same car! Anyone know anyone near 07461??? Sussex, NJ
How much u spend in total
All the items are listed in the description underneath the video. The prices do fluctuate
Cant here you over your background music piss poor
No good detail on how you connected the wires up.
You just match the colors up and connect the wires together
Poor video of showing how to disconnect to factory wiring
looks like shit.. head unit does looks great but integration looks bad and its not made for the Car
Very bad
