I always appreciate professionals who are willing to suggest ways to improve the look with using little if any money. Just elbow grease and imagination. Thank you so much for your common sense approach.
Wonderful idea to rearrange your furniture. Many yrs ago my friend bought a beautiful, partially furnished (but a bit boring) beach home with little money left for decorating. We moved everything. An oversized sectional became 2 sofas. A chest of drawers became a console table. A small chair from one of the bedrooms went downstairs for more seating. And lots more like that. It made a huge difference. Good advice as always.
In our sitting room we have two light blue loveseats facing each other sitting on a Persian style rug, centred with a faux white mantle (with an electric fire when required). Over the mantle we have a beautiful large art piece. I feel the mantle adds warmth and coziness to the room. We use this room for conversation and reading. 🤗❤️🐰🐣💐🇨🇦
Oh, my. . . confession time, Daaaaahlings. . . my mom had excellent taste in everything, and Lord knows we moved so much with my dad’s career, she HAD to be good at it. (She jokingly referred to her style of decor as “Old Army.”) I learned a lot from her and inherited some really cool things from their travels that mean a LOT to me. Here’s the confession: I’m woefully ignorant, lacking, and challenged in window treatments. (Sigh. . . ) there, I said it. I probably just got myself out of a few years in Purgatory. Windows are my Achilles Heel. I may have to seek professional help. Thank goodness we can employ the knowledge and expertise of our Fearless Leader Garrett, and all shall not be lost. We just went through a big life change, and once we can adjust funding, we will attack this problem head on. Yet ANOTHER excellent presentation, Garrett. Thank you! 🌻
5:40 - changing your layout is a great, no-cost game changer! I did that two houses ago and so did my sister in her current house. I couldn’t get over the transformation. I gained extra space where I needed it and stopped wasting space where I didn’t need it. There is no law saying this room must be used for “X” and never “Y.” Of course the exceptions are the bathrooms and kitchen 😄
I have a white cab in bathroom that needed 3 knobs and didn't want the ole brushed nickel or matt black so I spent a little more for rose Quartz knobs and just that little touch really set off rest of bathroom.... And thank you for yet another wonderful and not boring video ❤️
@lisa.user-xm7kz2tb6x Yep Amazon has them in many colors ie blue , green , purple ...they are a little pricey but not too bad , 2 for $30 but had to two packs...They come in several colors and you can even get a rose Quartz with a silver or gold base...mine are just the Quartz.
I love this video for people with boring spaces! (Of course that's not ME, love that for me lol) I especially support the recommendation to add art to the space, because I'm always all about bringing in art you love.
I do the swaps from room to room. My bathrooms get seasonal changes of towels and curtains , and it makes me SO happy! The bedroom gets the duvet covers and pillows changed out frequently. I do everything you suggest to keep things interesting. Always on the lookout in thrift shops....
Thank you so much. You always have such great, practical suggestions that get me thinking. My primary bedroom was not boring, but it was really bothering me. I put a white duvet cover on the bed, and it makes the whole room look so much more cohesive (and planned). Small changes can make a big difference.
*Textile Refreshes and Restyling* . I have a few key places in my home where I create seasonal vignettes. I re-work items into different areas year-to-year, so it's never the same. Swapping pillows and throws, kitchen, bed and bath linens...easiest refresh ever. You're fabulous Darrrhhling!
Hi Garrett. Another great video. Lighting always! And YES! Move some of your stuff around, or get rid of it. An empty space can do a lot for a room. Thanks!
Love this vid ❤ I'm moving furniture around, tryìng to create cozy nook type areas for painting, reading, and visiting... all in a small apt... i like a challenge... need to give away outdated pieces and freshen the spaces. This vid thankfully sparked ideas. Thank you. I love your vids for the inspirations and humor. Telling us like it is, and giving us your expertise. Bless you and all your loved ones. Furry and otherwise. 🥰
I was the person who rearranged furniture every 4-6 months because I wanted to use the room differently during the rainy season vs dry season and needed a study area during school but used that space differently during the months I wasn't in school.
Dear Garrett, You deserve so much more subscribers!!! Your tipps are wonderfully helpful, and You are a stunning, lovely and funny young man....with sweet dogs You take such good care of!!! Watching Your channel is like learning from a good friend!!!Thank You for these kind, informative, free lessons!!!! Kind regards❤
Thanks so much for your support! We are working hard on growth with new ideas and directions for an increased subscriber base. You are the type of subscriber I really love because you know the difference between junk content and quality content based on formal training and a decade of being connected to this craft.
As always excellent advice! I love monogrammed towels and bedding and it's very affordable too. I changed my hardware recently and it really made a difference in how I see the room. Original artwork isn't expensive and makes a personal statement that can't be duplicated. And definitely window treatments and lighting make a space special or just dreary. Embrace change! Love the ideas!! 🌴🦩☀️☺️❤️😊🥰😊❤️🥰❤️
Hello 👋 I change the layout of my living room at least twice a month. I’m always changing things up so much so that it scares my husband because when I start thinking he says smoke comes out my ears and it’s more work for him 😂 great video as always you crack me up 😆
IMO people should at least think about whether they should rearrange existing furniture at significant life events, like kids start school, or leave home, new person comes to live in the home, etc. because these are the times different events need to be accommodated in the space. The arrangement that was good when you had teenagers doing their thing may not be comfortable, or the best arrangement when it's just adults unwinding after work or having a weekend dinner party. Also, at the season changes - not necessarily on the equinox or solstice but when the light and view change at the room(s) you want to spend time in. Like putting chairs near the window during the seasons when the landscape is interesting but near the TV or fireplace in the winter. I change my sheets, duvet, pillow cases, towels (bathroom and kitchen), and livingroom curtains for cool months vs warm months. I've sewed some of these myself or acquired them over a few years so it wasn't a big investment at one time.
Yay! I aced this test! I have beautiful Roman shades in my kitchen/breakfast nook area. I have the different lighting options w/dimmer. I have the white kitchen w/champagne gold fixture and hardware. I have the coordinated light fixtures. I purchased my electric fireplace when I was renting. Now that my home have a built in fireplace, my electric one is now in my bedroom. Just purchased a Spring (light weight blanket yesterday and waiting for my sheets to arrive. My colors are silver and gold/gray and tan. Even my young children’s friends compliment my home. After remodeling my house after Hurricane Ida, I looked to you all for inspiration and do/don’ts. Thank you ❤
Spooky. I'm actually installing a fake fireplace mantel (from Facebook marketplace no less!) in my living room whilst watching this! I definitely agree that it gives focus to the room and elevates it. I have an electric 'wood' stove with a fake flue which gives a cosy look without a real fire.
Never eat blueberries while watching! I almost inhaled one laughing ❤ Your humor pops up when I’m not expecting! I looked up the light bulb you mentioned and not sure if it’s Calvin or Kelvin?!❤️🐩
Thank you, Garrett. We put a faux fireplace in our lounge room with an electric "flame" fire in it. I wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do but now it's got the "Garrett seal of approval" I feel much better about it. We don't use the heater much as we live in Australia but it looks good.
Another’s wonderful video. And of course, I always agree with what you share. I love restyle my home regularly and am lucky enough to have a large closet full of shelves to store things when not in use. It’s my own little styling store.
I'd also say scaling is important too, a lot of people hesitate going bold but they end up doing the opposite and they end up with a huge space that needs to be filled in. Worst yet are the bulky items that's too much to work with and it limits the space from being personalized properly.
Excellent video! Work with what you have is a great concept and you told us how to actually do it-Thank you. Also love the mantel idea. Also, you look wonderful!
Hi Garrett, I’m relatively new to you Channel but since I have found it I’ve enjoyed every one of them. You have a way of delivering ideas that are so engaging & besides that you are funny & cute. Now the question I want to get your opinion on is, if all you kitchen cupboards are white, what do you think of leaving the top ones white & painting the bottom ones a different color, say navy blue? Or is that so out of fashion now?……….Thanks, Jan Nichols
Thank you for watching and supporting the channel by subscribing! I appreciate it. Jan, in order to give my opinions about a specific space like your kitchen, I would have to see it and discuss it together. Every situation is different so what might look great in one kitchen might not in another. Please feel free to book a virtual consultation with me at intro.co/garrettlechic The available appointment times you see are already in your time zone. 😊
I’m new to the Le Chic family! Could you help direct me to videos where you talk about aligning picture frames or how to apply paint to which walls. I got the color and style but now choosing how to apply it is still tricky! Thanks!
Welcome to the channel! It’s great to have you as a part of our very valued subscriber family. The subject of aligning frames is discussed in several past videos though I’m not sure exactly which ones, but as you watch the past videos you will see. In general I like to hang frames in line with themselves or an architectural feature in the space like a door frame, window or molding. In terms of the paint, I’m not sure exactly what you are asking especially with respect to which walls to paint. Personally, I am not a big fan of feature walls being painted a different color. I think art for example creates a better feature. With respect to painting itself, I recommend having a licensed painting contractor work with you on that. If you would like me to see the space, and discuss my specific opinions about it and samples you may have or discuss any other decorating questions, I’d be glad to do a consultation with you. Virtual consultations with me can be booked at intro.co/garrettlechic
Good Morning Garrett, Thank you for the very interesting vlog. I really really liked it, and what a coincidence I was thinking of rearranging the layout last night with some measuring tape wrapped around my fingers🙃 I guess, the itch post 2 years 😍 You have a wonderful week and see you soon..xx
Garrett, you can read my thoughts, lol. What do you say about making a video about how to deal with that point when you are in the middle of a refurbishment/ renovation and your brain gets stuck? When some of your ideas don't work, when creativity is gone, as well as your confidence ?
I never have that problem because I actually got my college degree in interior design, and have been involved with the craft in some shape or form for about a decade so I have tons of ideas in mind or that I can pull out of my tool box to help others and I always have a plan before I start an interior design project. I try to focus on what the viewership wants to learn about at any given time for our videos.
In a video I watched quite a while ago, I think you mentioned that you purchased custom Roman shades from an Etsy shop. If I my memory is correct, can you share the link to that?
I love lighting! I have a lot of natural light, and yet I turn all my layers of lighting. I absolutely love it when I have all my lights on❤
I always appreciate professionals who are willing to suggest ways to improve the look with using little if any money. Just elbow grease and imagination. Thank you so much for your common sense approach.
My pleasure! Happy to share what I’ve learned getting an education in interior design and what I’ve learned practically over the last 10 years.

All the rooms in my house are bold. Vibrant colors. Definitely not boring.
I had a roommate in college that would rearrange the furniture every two or three months. It was kind of irritating, but kind of cool to same time.
I did that as a young teenager.
