- After putting some ads online about trying to find people who need help with their lawns, I had a guy email me that said he had a lot that was in pretty bad shape that needed cleaned up. The lawn was very tall with lots of trash. This yard was not in the best part of town but when I showed up a neighbor was outside so I went over and talked with her. When I told her we were there to mow this lot, she couldn't believe it.

@@TopNotchLawns I like to make a suggestion: your helper should wear a bright orange or lemon t-shirt just in case you don't see him for one split second while you are driving your mower. It only takes a fraction of a second to have a dangerous situation or accident. We never expect them but that's why they call them "accidents". Maybe a three times extra large shirt so it can fit over a fall jacket or one of those brightly colored vests. Remember safety first ⛑️🏨🏥❤️ **road crews always wear safety vests so they make it home safe and sound, their families are counting on them ☑️😇☕

Wow, this was severely overgrown, but you cleaned it up nicely. The edging really improved it and you can see the curb again. I was worried that you might hit something in the grass, but thankfully you avoided it. Need a dumpster for this job. Nice work on mowing this overgrown property. Well done!

A shame that human beings have to toss their garbage into vacant lots, when every city has some way of disposing of residents garbage. Also having such high grass can be a real fire hazard in dry weather. Thank you for doing yet another spectacular job making the city look good and helping out a resident.

If there's one thing I've learned in the last 2 years is there is a large number of people that don't care about others, including our shared environment. Sad is right.
We have to pay at our garbage dump which I do! These are lazy cheap awful people who do this and then others have to pay SMH 🙄 😒
The high grass and weeds along with the trash attracts rodents also.
@@woolcardigan. I don't think it's judgment. In the world we live in today, these are facts. If you live somewhere that everyone respects the area and keeps it clean, good for you. But I live in an area where you have to fight to keep it decent because the generation today, especially people that don't own their homes, don't give a crap.

Brian, this episode scared me the most so far. You said you were surprised your tires survived all of the glass. Holy fluff, I'm glad your bodies weren't shredded from glass and flying projectiles. Come on now, this isn't an overgrown lot. That was a high end rental property with a vintage sofa set, water (logged) bed and open-air toilet. $4300/month 🤣🤣

They don’t only trash other people’s property. Most of the tenants I’ve had live like pigs. They never lifted a finger to clean up anything…can you say black tub. And they would bathe their kids in it too and they thought it was normal. They didn’t last long.

Another incredible job. I was thinking that Sean at Blade Mate Lawn Care down in Australia (you probably know his channel) mentioned that he works with a church group or civic group to find people who need this kind of service. Maybe email him for some suggestions on what kind of groups you could contact? I imagine there are privacy issues preventing various agencies from directly giving out information, but maybe they could pass along the info to their clients? Just a thought I had.

I have never figured out why people who can't or don't keep up a yard live in a house. Move somewhere where the yards are maintained.
@@lydialedbetter2041 Maybe because the used to be able to take care of their yard but a health issue or some other drama came up. Maybe because they fell into depression or other mental health issues and just try to survive. It's easy to be judgemental but you never know what kind of battles others are facing in their lives. All it takes is a little compassion.

I LOL'd when I saw the mattresses.... I recently had a tenant leave 3 mattresses and a box spring in my back yard (and the front hall closet door, the bathroom cabinet, and a few lazyboy chairs).... 2 30yd dumpsters later...... keep up the good work!
That is a valuable service. When properties are kept nice, people feel better and take more pride in their neighborhood.

That’s a big pet peeve of mine , and my nine year old grandson too.. he even told an adult it wasn’t nice to throw their empty water bottle on the ground in the park they were in , he picked it up and put it in the trash barrel that was four feet away as he told them what he thought of it ..lol

Unless the man had a really valid reason for neglecting that lot, I would have charged him. That mess didn't happen overnight. When you let property get that far gone, it becomes a dump site and eventually attracts vermin. Landscaping and lawn care should not have to include garbage detail. You and your worker did an excellent job though and it was a very very kind thing to do.

It has been there for some time. I'm surprised that the owner of the said lot hadn't taken time to actually go & pick up "some" trash. As I watch my 94 yr old neighbor walk to her shed on her walker & roll out with her push mower she bought used. She's amazing...

Question from a non US citizen: the curveture of the curb pretty much determines where your driveway ends up being? Or can you have it go any other way on the lot and adjust the curb? Just being curious.
Depends on the neighborhood but yes usually curbs from the street are determined by the city
Ah, from real experience, most counties require a permit for any curb changes and they have to be inspected.😬

From my experience, homeowners with overgrown grass, bushes etc need help getting their yard back in shape, not penalties. If these people had money then they would hire someone. My own property became overgrown due to painful chronic health problems. As a disabled senior, the cost of hiring a gardener is not possible with SSDI. Not married. No kids.
True communities and neighborhoods should be helping each other. Not calling the police to ticket a person in need.
We all need more compassionate loving men, like Top Notch and his son, to get active.

Awesome job guys! May God bless you for the work you do. I’ve found a new channel to watch for sure. My in laws had a 28 acre farm and my husband and I would spend all day out there mowing grass. Early in the morning till about dark. About 15 of it was left alone for the wild deer to hide in and live in peace. I loved the riding mower. When I found out how bad my back was my doctor told me I could not mow on a riding mower or with a self propelled mower. We got a small weed eater and I would do the fence lines. Doctor never said I couldn’t weed eat and I never asked. When out self propelled mower broke down and we got a regular gas mower I couldn’t believe how much lighter it was. I miss mowing and love to watch channels like yours. I’m 64 now and my kids won’t let me do much yard work. I sneak out early in the morning or just before sunset. I got a battery powered where eater at Walmart. People probably thought I was crazy because to went over and got a bathroom scale and weighed the boxes of battery powered weed eaters. When I found one under 15 pounds I bought it. My lift limit is 10 pounds and I figured the package weight about 5. I have to wear a full back brace to weed eat but at least I can do some yard work.

Great job! You know what I do in my yard is I walk around with one of those orange Home Depot buckets and grabber reacher stick and I pick stuff up like that. It saves my back! I get a lot of walnuts and hundreds of gum balls every year. And not to mention after a storm all the twigs and branches that fall. You might want to try that especially in a yard like that with all that trash. Just a suggestion!

There's a lot of maintenance lawn care videos out there but I think yours is by far above & beyond, more thoughtful when doing the work. Kudos to you & your son for doing such great work, great videos. Now you have a different helper but still great care.
The thing that makes YOU stand out is when you also remove the garbage and junk off the property. You also go the "extra mile" cutting volunteer trees and really manicuring the property.
You ARE the best.
Glad you are making things tidy through your own generosity as we found that if somebody is arsehole enough to dump their piece of crap, in no time at all several others will add their little bit and in no time at all you have a mountain of crap to get rid of. With it being tidy, its not so easy to toss garbage without being seen.👍👍👍
