I remember telling my brother a decade (more or less) ago "everything Disney touches turns to gold," and he replied with "yeah, it's scary how well a corporation can know people". This was just after Moana came out, Disney coming off almost 2 decades of solid wins. It's absolutely wild that Disney has reversed itself so far. It just boggles my mind.
It’s the ESG-scores and how they’re pandering to investors, adhering to “the message”. It all starts at the top, and Bob Iger was the one starting the trend in Disney. Bob Chapek was just the scapegoat, while Iger pulled the strings from behind the curtain. They hire extremists, and it all goes downhill from there. Once the extremists are entrenched, it’s impossible getting rid of them. So, Disney is doomed despite Nelson Peltzer trying a hostile take-over of the Disney board. It is, however, entertaining watching this Goliat stumble and fall on it’s face.
I remember discussing the Lucas film sale with a friend, and he was quite reassuring because “it could be sold to no better equipped and rich company and that they would do it proud” I guess that maybe he was wrong in the end
@@chadh0nkleton774I disagree. Star Wars was on life support when it was sold. Bar the sequels which were rushed out to fit Bob igers rigid release schedules. He also forced out George lucas because he wanted a safe return on the investment with nostalgia movies. But yeah Solo, Rogue one, bad batch, rebels, clone wars 7, ahsoka, mando, andor, high republic, video games, tales of the jedi, visions, and even kenobi/boba have all been decent to the best Star Wars ever mind. Look at things objectively with nuance and critical thinking don’t succumb to the hyperbolic hate you are constanly fed online by TH-camrs who most of which have sinister agendas themselves.
In my universe the marvel movies ended with end game the only new stuff that was good in my opinion was moon knight, sung chi, spider man and gardens of the galaxy
Nah, Truman Show and Gattaca are freaking amazing shows, then and now. I WANT films that questions and criticizes stuff that happens in modern society. The difference is how preachy Disney became. Their films and series are soulless and tasteless.
The real victims are not just the viewers... but the brilliant actors who are being strung along. Once these things are done you cannot simply take them back... The stain and time.
@@jonathansoko1085 It's not entirely their choice as actors are often portrayed as seeking income in any role as well as status, assuming the role is or isn't in their best interest. From an economic standpoint to maintain their lives it would be foolish to turn down any acting role if it will benefit them. From a more conservative aspect the actors who do not accept the role will just be replaced. The worst part is that we encourage all of this as if it should be what society dictates. Yes, a realm of it is on the actors but ultimately the fault lies with those who are in more power and authority than these actors in order to make the change there needs to be.
Another issue with many post-Endgame films is escalation creep. The constant fate of the world, fate of the universe, now fate of the multiverse is exhausting. Having a story with smaller stakes would be a nice breather between the massive superhero teamups. Plus, these stories are completely ignoring the cities they are supposed to be rescuing and the people who living in them. That brings home what is at stake instead of some threads of CGI timelines which have little impact on the viewer.
I’m literally rooting against Disney at this point, watching them go bankrupt would honestly be more entertaining then an actually good marvel movie 💀 Edit: do yall think it’s actually gonna happen?
Saying all Disney cares about is their own image just shows how narcissistic they are since their image is already ruined and they don't seem to notice
I was gonna say the same thing, they’ve tried so hard to make sure their image isn’t tarnished, the fittest of this world survive and the weak die, so once all the liberals are gone the only ones left are the ones that don’t like that dumb agenda shit
She does have a weakness the movie doesn’t express it well. Her weakness is not knowing what is right and what is wrong. Since she has the ability to beat anyone, the issue is what. She liberated the people by killing their overlord but that caused the disaster in this movie
Watching the decline of the MCU is like watching a friend I love wasting away from some terrible, self-inflicted disease, ignoring those who can offer a cure.
Same. There's no joy to be had in watching this debacle, it's just sad. And it's bitter too when we have gotten to see what good versions of these films look like with the earlier Marvel and Star Wars content that was produced.

I can't imagine trying to come up with a good story and characters working for a huge company like Disney in the age of ESG and all of the hoops they have to jump through just to make Blackrock/Vanguard happy. It's never been a better time to be an indie movie/game/music fan.

Ideology and politics can be a great thing. Only thing is, they have an indoctrination scheme when creating entertainment for kids and adults alike and that sacrifices the story and wow-factor that movies should have in the first place.
There was still a lot of stuff that was set up for later during the infinity saga that never came to fruition and were later shown in the later saga like Adam Warlock

The most common one in the world its latino and white, I'm mixed latino and white and have never seen a character like me even tho we are a lot
There was a reason everyone cheered in Endgame when Thanos punched Captain Marvel into _orbit_ . How Disney could not take away that people were happy that the most dangerous villain in the MCU clocked a hero meaning that _nobody liked her_ is utterly baffling.

The shining moments for both Marvel AND Star Wars, no matter what Disney dumps on them, has been one name: Jonathan Kolia Favreau He was the gambler that gave us Iron Man that everyone else snubbed. He invented The Mandalorian from whole cloth. If they want to win again, they need him to replace Kathleen Kennedy. I just hope he still cares enough to do it.
If they really wanted to avoid criticism the easiest route would be to release movies that have no substance besides bringing back actors we already know, that’s what DP3 is doing and everyone is excited for it (including me)
Too late paid reviews are already in. IGN gave the film a 8 out of 10. And we thought the Cod curse was broken when they gave MW3 4 out of 10. But anyway it was the same woke feminist IGN reviewer that gave She-Hulk a 7 or 8 if I remember.

I think that all of these large corporations and studios should see this as why you shouldn't cheap out on artists and writers. As well as doing massive layoffs that replace them with AI. You get what you invest, and if you invest in shit- you get shit.
What people don't understand is that these scripts are DESIGNED TO BE LIKE THIS. There is no mistake. The writers are great - but when you have over 100 of them and you are pushing a political message, there is zero chance that even the best writers can deliver a great script.
I agree. Investing in AI storytelling would have delivered a much compelling and deep story than anything the disney woke writers have written over the last 3 years!
My personal head cannon is Thanos actually won in Avengers Endgame, not by killing the heroes, but by using the gauntlet to trap them in a labyrinth where they think they won. And in order to keep them in this matrix, Thanos sends the heroes on endless missions so that they are too preoccupied to even consider that something has gone terribly wrong. They are effectively in a maze with four interconnected walls and no doors, no exits.
Watching the first Iron-Man movie and comparing it with what the MCU has been doing now is like if everything has been turned into a freaking parody, the difference is insane. S2 Loki might be the only thing carrying the MCU, unlike this abomination.
That’s part of the problem. They don’t have a story, or a modicum of creativity. They have a religion and they want to rewrite/deconstruct our culture to reflect their religion/ideology. Cultural Marxism requires it and that’s what’s underneath everything they do. Don’t be surprised if they don’t give up, because adults may see through it but children are easy to indoctrinate. That’s why they’ve spent the majority of their effort on entertainment and education.
I used to know a director who told me that a key to a better art and characters is in combining different and conflicting perspectives, or qualities in a character. It seems that art becomes insufferably flat and nonsensical when it's one-sided. Propaganda is inevitably one-sided.
What message? How pushing a "message" is better than making their shareholders rich? No, they are trying to bring more audiences, while not spending enough to write proper, well developed scripts.
Best advice ever given to me was 'focus on what you can control'. Don't let all that other stuff get to you, cause you have no say in it. Focus on what you can control

The biggest problem is the lack of competitive environment. Its inevitable that this would happen to Disney with no rivals. The west needs more independent companies like the Japan anime community to create more independent IP's.
This is why I am truly disappointed that the DCEU is now over after basically just starting. Sure, they had some flops, but so has the MCU! Also, as I stated before, the DCEU was a particularly young movie universe and if they would’ve given it some time, they could’ve possibly outclassed Marvel in terms of movies. Let’s face it, the MCU has gone to shit ever since it introduced Brie Larson as Captain Marvel(don’t get me wrong, I love Brie Larson but she sucked as Captain Marvel).
We want a strong male action hero like Die Hard era Bruce Willis, less jokes, more serious, more visceral. We're all tired of every action movie doing 4th wall breaks and constant humor. What happened to movies like T2, Alien, hell even Event Horizon was kick ass.
I've watched, t1, t2, event horizon, Lord of the rings (the good ones) and South park --> panderverse, nothing new excites me except the downfall of Disney and Hollywood.
It's wild how blatant She-Hulk was about the fact that the writers just didn't care whatsoever about the characters and story, only the messages they wanted to preach. If the writers/directors/producers clearly don't care about a story, why should anyone else? I know that problem isn't exclusive to She-Hulk, especially these days, but that show in particular was so unapologetically in-your-face about it.
It's a bit eye opening to think back to how excited i was when I first saw the iron man trailer, and how I couldn't believe how right they got that film and finally seemed to be doing marvel fans justice and respect.....shoot to now and they're literally the opposite and it can't just be negligence or bad ideas, this has to be coming from a place they don't want anyone to know
You do realize why right!?! The whole video explains it. Iron man was awesome when it was owned by marvel and not Disney. Kinda looks like you've missed the point
Yeah, the audience don't care anymore. It premiered today and up until 1 hour before showtime I had no sold tickets. In the end 5 people saw it (in an auditorium with a capacity of 114). I actually had more people watching Sound of Freedom on the screen next door. And to make it even funnier there was a technical memo from Disney that there might be glitches somewhere in the end credits on certain hardware. They can't even QC their stuff. It's hilariously bad. 🤣
Once you understand the bigger picture What seems the senseless destruction of great stories Starts to make perfect sense. Where are they wanting to take humanity and what do they have planned for us ? If you discover this You discover why.
Ya know, if I were a girl, I'd feel pretty insulted by Disney right about now. They can't even do representation justice with half-way decent writing. In fact about now, I'd probably be asking, "Is this really the best representation we can get?"
@@panjinurfadillah2489it absolutely does, when the majority of heroes are male. And most of the female ones aren't given as much depth of story or character. But somehow even Hawkeye gets a TV show, more content focused on him than Blackwidow ever got. As you can see, I'm still miffed at the lackluster Blackwidow movie.
This is just lazy heavy handed insincere pandering. More women should be more offended by that. Why don’t Disney think women main characters deserve character development? Even Pepper Potts has more depth than Carol in the very first Iron Man movie than all of Captain Marvel movies put together. Don’t pretend this is about gender, we love Nebula, Gamora, Mantis, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch etc.

But it can't be outright that film makers are just oblivious, it actually began when streaming became big, the Netflix around covid Era, but idk. It's not to say all film makers have lost it, there's been 1 or 2 good even great movies released during all this, like the Batman, the sound of freedom etc
@asmethgabrasi9469 Hmmm...I believe the reason is an experiment of diversity pandering to irrelevant audiences with high-profile, high-budget films and television shows that were never made for them to begin. This is why non-toxic Star Trek fans hate Star Trek: Discovery, and why The CW had to cancel Powerpuff when it took more than 2 years to rewrite the pilot, and nobody ever did that. @@adampkalb yeah, it's about public relations. they're trying to influence public perception, but why are they doing a propaganda campaign? If this is the bait, where's the hook?
@Brancovtn65 Correct, they certainly do want us divided. Black rock, Vanguard etc are financial arms of The World Economic Forum who are using the division as a tool in their race to bring in global communism. 15 minute cities, population control, facial recognition, social credit scores, installation of a cashless society, removal of public gun ownership, promotion of insects as a form of nutrition, removal of house ownership, carbon passports and many other plans to enslave us are happening right now and we are being divided to conquer. This isn't a conspiracy story, they are fairly open about their proposals and the proof is in front of our eyes with global unrestrained immigration destroying western society across the globe.
Marvel has a management problem. When *every* new release is poor quality despite ballooning budgets, you know something went terribly wrong with their whole production process. They rely on inexperienced directors who won't push back. The CGI is bad because they keep asking for last-minute changes. They don't actually start with a script, but rather a bunch of cool scenes the producer wants and then expect the writers to build around that. I think the producers actively resent having to rely on creative people doing good work and want to standardize the process as much as possible.
At this point I'm waiting to hear about someone starting a kickstarter campaign to launch a new western superhero publishing studio to compete with DC and Marvel. I know that they've muscled out all of their other competition to-date, but with how much they've dragged their own names through the mud, maybe there's room for something new thanks to the power of the internet.

As a black man this has summed up my feeling on the topic perfectly, I have no interest in being represented in all things at all times, I've never concerned myself with being represented I'm concerned with being represented WELL!! in projects , casts and writers that care about the story....I never felt that I couldn't ever relate to Frodo watching Lord of the Rings because he's not a 6'5 black man from the UK, representation for representations sake is dehumanising and superficial and does wider damage on a social level.....
As someone who falls under the LGBTQ I can relate. Not every character needs to be or even should try to represent me or those like me. And it also sucks when a film or show has a character thats supposed to represent folks like myself but in reality the character is just a walking out of date stereotype. Token characters are not representation. Having a characters personality completely revolve around a single and often looks based trait is not a personality. It just sucks
Marvel was always garbage. They had an "ok" movie that turned out to be a hit in the original Iron man. From then on, they got to make a ton of movies carried by personalities the audience liked(RDJ, Chris Hemsworth, Cap, etc). If you pay any attention, these movies are very dialogue/character quirk driven, which sounds like a weird thing to say about action/hero films. That's because they have always relied on their star power with the fans. The action is boring, the CG is bad and the plot is laughable. The moment those personalities are gone, everyone sees Marvel products for the shit they are.
>"The Marvels Is The Worst Movie Ever Made" >Doesn't review the film at all, says "woke"-the buzzword of buzzwords- a lot, doesn't go into depth or name examples, repeats the same twerking scene everybody uses when they bring up the "I hated She-Hulk" rhetoric without actually going in-depth about why you hated She-Hulk >Criticizes that "woke Marvel" lacks depth, doesn't go into depth or detail "Woke" is so poorly defined in this video... probably to pander to the audience. What people dislike isn't the diversity (Black Panther and Barbie made gangbusters at the box office, as you pointed out). People dislike shallow representation that transparently is designed to maximize profit without adding the actual depth of character that makes films like Black Panther and Barbie interesting. If that shallowness is what defines "woke" then part of the problems people have with Marvel comes from the writers strike as well as Marvel Studios' meddling. When people can't write, when directors and creatives get ground through the megacorporation filter that declaws any kind of flavor to their product, people will notice they're tasting nothing. If you're eating for the flavor but it lacks flavor, why are you eating.
I think women want movies that have style, thats part of why barbie did so well it's all pink with cute outfits. I say that as a woman. I miss movies like mean girls and clueless, I want movies with more attitude.
The fact Disney really did the impossible and ruined such a beloved franchises like the MCU and stars wars and deflect all criticism and doubling down on everything all their fans have been complaining about while appealing to nobody while trying so hard, I have zero sympathy when they go bankrupt and I’ll actually be rooting for it to happen because what I just described is a different level of greed, ignorance, and delusion
All that other stuff is opinions, but "appealing to nobody", at least with this movie, is straight up not factual information. 8/10 on IGN and 85% audience score on rotten tomatoes. Ofc you can dislike it, but you can't deny that there are others who like it. And if I wanna be really literal, I loved the movie, so that's proof enough that it's not "nobody", considering 1 > 0.
That’s what Disney does. It’s a planet killer, lumbering along sucking up everything it can and shitting out the waste. Star wars was ruined many years ago.

You know it's bad when Captain Marvel was compared to Alita: Battle Angel as an example of how to NOT write a strong heroine vs. how to write one that the audience (regardless of gender) would fall in love with.
I wish I could just say that Disney is intentionally lowering the bar with flop after flop so they can sort of build up to another amazing climax with good stories again, but that would be a complete lie.
They only care about "Sending a message" With all this woke thing the media has, I don't know how Disney can get lower than this but i dout they got lower than bedrock
In all fairness Captain Marvel in the comics is very very strong. I like the powers she has in the MCU. Its just the way Brie portrayed her character that was offputting. She had this constant bitch face, an air of superiority, and this attitude that everyone else is beneath her. Thats not how superheroes act. Take superman or wonder woman for example. Both of them are very strong characters but they dont act like it. There is a humbleness to them that is very likeable and relatable.
the problem for me is exactly the superman problem DC has - he can handle anything the JL can by himself. it makes it very difficult to feel anything is at stake. same with CM - her powers make 99% of the other chracters irrelevant (but i do agree the way they portrayed the character was awful)
The biggest problem with Captain Marvel is her origin story. It goes back beyond just Carol Danvers.... in the comics there is another character, MarVell or whatever, right? They should have gone back there. Figured out how to start the Captain Marvel story at its actual beginning. So when we eventually get Carol Danvers, she feels earned. This Captain Marvel thing in the comics is almost like a power that gets passed around, like a torch of responsibility and great power. Here Carol Danvers just gets everything instantly and is a master at using it all instantly.
Thank you for defining what people are complaining about when they talk about “woke” writing. Representation matters, but it has the opposite effect when the film centers around said representation at the complete loss of compelling plot and characters. Effective representation can’t happen without a good story for the representation to shine. Doesn’t matter who you cast if the writing is halfassed.
But what you described is not "wokeness" and never has been. Nothing more than the conservative definition instead of the ACTUAL definition. Diversity doesn't take away from the writing. Bad writing is bad writing. Where y'all see a link, I have no clue.
@@Renee84 it does if its being shoved down peoples throat. Disney is awful and is the reason why they are tanking. I fuckin love it. Everyone complains that there is no representation (i e black people about black super heroes). As a white man, we were told if we didn't watch Black Panther we were racist.
The trick to making a story about an invincible character like Superman or Captain Marvel is that you don't try to make their battle with the villain the source of narrative tension. Side characters exist for a reason.
Homelander and Dr. Manhattan are proof you can have invincible overpowered characters and still get great movies - as you said, you don't make their battles the source of narrative tension. The Star Wars Original Trilogy didn't have Darth Vader or Luke swinging lightsabers all the time, but when they did it was always memorable. Disney execs can't tell a good story from a trash one. I'm sure they get tons of great ideas and scripts, and they throw them away in favor of BS drama.
I lived in a rural area growing up, and cut grass from sun up till sun down for my comic books to be delivered in the late 70's to the mid 80's, Disney has abandoned me with the movies and shows being produced now, and don't even get me started on what Amazon is doing to Wheel of Time. WHY frack up good story telling.
I find Doomcock's leaks of the background dealings of Disney far, far more interesting than than the entertainment products they excrete from the bowls of their factory lines.
The army of jealous haters of Brie Larson or Marvel may have succeeded initially creating this fake impression of "The Marvels" being a bad movie, but the OTT platform has shown that there is now a good reception of the movie.

I remember discussing the Lucas film sale with a friend, and he was quite reassuring because “it could be sold to no better equipped and rich company and that they would do it proud”
I guess that maybe he was wrong in the end
@@chadh0nkleton774I disagree. Star Wars was on life support when it was sold. Bar the sequels which were rushed out to fit Bob igers rigid release schedules. He also forced out George lucas because he wanted a safe return on the investment with nostalgia movies. But yeah Solo, Rogue one, bad batch, rebels, clone wars 7, ahsoka, mando, andor, high republic, video games, tales of the jedi, visions, and even kenobi/boba have all been decent to the best Star Wars ever mind. The real victims are not just the viewers... but the brilliant actors who are being strung along. Once these things are done you cannot simply take them back... The stain and time.
No. They are adults, they are also to blame for going with it
@@jonathansoko1085 It's not entirely their choice as actors are often portrayed as seeking income in any role as well as status, assuming the role is or isn't in their best interest.
A lot of bad anime has this same issue. If they’d put in the time to review storytelling methods, they could have avoided making the same mistakes

@Brancovtn65 Correct, they certainly do want us divided.

Shang-Chi, The Batman, Across The Spider-Verse, No Way Home, Tenet, Birds of Prey, Soul, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, The Mario Movie,, The Banker (I'm sure most people don't even know what this movie is about), Killers of the Flower Moon, A Haunting in Venice, Barbie, Oppenheimer, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes looks fantastic, Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1, John Wick Chapter 4, Talk to Me, Pearl, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Top Gun Maverick, Scream 5, Scream 6, Avatar: The Way of Water, Smile, Fall, Nope, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, Wakanda Forever, Prey, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, RRR, Turning Red, The Bad Guys, Goodnight Mommy, I'm sure I'm forgetting some but these are all in JUST THIS DECADE ALONE.
Want to go back to the 2010s when we had that fcking kickass summer of 2014? Or the late 2000s when we had The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Iron Man, Transformers? Bad movies now are the EXCEPTION. Not as commonplace as you people might think. You just need to watch more movies. I see up to hundreds in a year. HUNDREDS.
but I thought people hated when a film comments on societal issues. I mean pick one. Because when the Batman 2022 commented on the classism in Gotham people hated that. When they couldn't seem to understand that there was actual reason interconnected with the story to do that; to showcase the parallels between Riddler and Batman, and Catwoman and Batman.

Disney and woke Hollywood is why I’ve taken an interest in exclusively watching foreign movies and tv shows. If you want to understand why Hollywood can’t just “write better”, you must begin by viewing “woke” as it is designed to be: a religion.
Once you embrace that simple truth, everything else make sense. It even explains why they’d rather remake something old than create something new.
How does that explain that they would rather remake something old than create new? I was always curious about why they wouldn't just create something new given their disrespect towards the past.
@@dvanyukovtrying to feed off of the very powerful emotion known as nostalgia. Sprinkle in a dash of fast food style humor, some diversity/inclusivity, and mediocre vfx and you’ve got a marvelized blockbuster film
There's only a religion, and that is capitalism. They are trying to appeal to people they haven't captured yet, audience wise, ass they did with Black Panther and Shang Chi.
What simple truth? That's only in your very simple mind.
@@ChopsWildRide Yeah, that would make sense. So it's the lack of vision of the progressive culture, who is better at denigrating the past than it is at offering a sustainable way forward.

It really made sense when Gasper Noe said he just wanted to escape from Black Panther as he was unable to hold on for more than 15 minutes and also appreciated Villenuve's "Arrival" on the other hand
Is this another one of those movie cuck opinions no one asks? Like, from guys who put "The Godfather" as one of their favorite movies? 😂

>"The Marvels Is The Worst Movie Ever Made"
>Doesn't review the film at all, says "woke"-the buzzword of buzzwords- a lot, doesn't go into depth or name examples, repeats the same twerking scene everybody uses when they bring up the "I hated She-Hulk" rhetoric without actually going in-depth about why you hated She-Hulk
>Criticizes that "woke Marvel" lacks depth, doesn't go into depth or detail
"Woke" is so poorly defined in this video... probably to pander to the audience. If you're eating for the flavor but it lacks flavor, why are you eating.
exactly bro
People are tired of diversity.
“Please go away. We are following the same arc Thanos had at the moment.”

I think women want movies that have style, thats part of why barbie did so well
it's all pink with cute outfits. I say that as a woman. I miss movies like mean girls and clueless, I want movies with more attitude.
Disney turned into Orwell 1984 as a company.
@@AvariceAgent google reviews suggest otherwise
That’s what Disney does. It’s a planet killer, lumbering along sucking up everything it can and shitting out the waste. Star wars was ruined many years ago.

Captain Marvel has a huge flaw: her personality.
You never know. The MCU is planning on making two more mega Avengers films, but with Kang the Conquerer instead of Thanos
Nobody wants to see a female Thor.
Did you come up with that last rhyming line yourself? That should be everyone’s motto!
@@Window4503what in god like fuck are you talking? There was and always has been representation. You seemed to look from a blind eye.
Except that the fucking main 3 cast members in this movie are all 3 the same race and gender as the characters in the comics. So, fucking pointless.
I mean they nerfed her because she couldn’t use her powers all the time without switching. Hence she had to learn to work as a team
