I was around 14 when this was released in the theaters, blew my mind then and it never gets old watching
Totally agree, one of the greats- Rick
So is my dad.
I was 5 when this came out and saw it in the theater. I remember jumping up and down screaming for joy when I was 8 and saw the first trailer for Empire. Will always love these movies.
Thanks to Chris and Billy! 🌌 I hope Billy keeps watching STAR WARS with an open-mind... because there are always things to appreciate in each movie and live-action tv series concerning the galaxy far, far away.
So, the canonical (in-universe) explanation behind lightsaber colors is that they CAN be basically any color depending on their specific chemistry, but the evil Jedi (known as "Sith") adopted red as their signature color -- so nobody else uses the color anymore.
Remember this was originally a solo movie, the sequel is better but changes and adds things to the characters that aren't even hinted at in this one.
Jabba's appearance in current editions of the film is one such addition: it was originally a deleted scene, with a human actor playing the role of Jabba. Jabba's identity as an alien slug originally didn't occur until Episode VI.
@9:31 “Help me, Augie ‘Ben’ Doggie. You’re my only hope.” - Princess Anne-Droid, Hardware Wars (1978) 😁
Welcome to the fandom my brother. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
What is your Favorite Star Wars Movie of all Time? Let us know down below.
Empire and Rogue one
Cinematically, Empire is an amazing and entertaining film. But I will always love A New Hope the most because it introduced us to this amazing galaxy of characters and adventure. I hope you guys do Empire and Return. Looking forward to seeing Billy experience those wild rides and surprises.
Empire. With Rogue One a close second.
I was 7 when this came out. I saw it in a PACKED theater. It really is impossible to fully describe what it was like seeing it back then. The opening space battle was unlike anything seen at that time. It wasn't only the amazing visuals, but the sound effects and John Williams fantastic score!!
Same! My small town had never witnessed the wait for a movie wrap around the building before.
make sure everybody who watches …wishes the original drunk dad….a happy birthday tomorrow!!!!….he puts his all into this channel and only wants to put out content that people want to see and embraces every comment positive and negative!!!…if you have a chance send him some birthday wishes
Rick is the original drunk dad lol
This one ..the first..1977.
I was 13 years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars in the Movie Theatre. The special effects were ahead of its time, The movie was originally just called Star Wars because George Lucas did not know if he would be allowed to make more Star Wars movies, It was renumbered Episode IV when episode v The Empire Strikes Back was released in 1980. George Lucas started with the First movie of his Middle Trilogy.
So do my dad.
Definitely enjoyed this reaction and subscribed for the rest.
You guys should watch “empire of dreams” after you watch the og trilogy. It’s a documentary about the making of starwars and it’s honestly mind blowing how many times Starwars came to just not being a thing at all.
It was such a struggle for Lucas to get the movie made to the degree that the making of Starwars could be a film itself.
Please, show him the rest of the OT & the Prequels! If he liked this he's gonna LOVE what's next!
Oh we are definitely planning on it as long as the video performs well on our channel
I’m a luke skywalker mega fan he’s my inspiration for wanting to become a Jedi
May the force be with you ✌🏽
Your arms over there bud 😂😂😂😂 you guys cracked me up a lot of the video
Also yea I have a lightsaber addiction it is the best weapon I want a real lightsaber
An underrated movie, IMHO, that Mark H. is in is called The Big Red One. It’s a WWII movie that’s worth a watch.
The Astro part of Astromech is important as they act as the Astronavigation system for hyperspace.
Also, its important to note that R2 has never had his memory banks wiped...... think of what he knows!
Stormtrooper bad aim was a misconception turned later reality. In the films and shows, when they are not hampered by capture/aid-an-escape order they shoot as well as any ordinary character
Lightsaber colors actually represent different kinds of Jedi.
Blue is a Jedi Guardian/Knight who focus on protecting others.
Green is a Jedi Consular who practices diplomacy and focuses on their force training often only using their lightsabers only when needed or as a last resort.
Red are force users who use the Dark Side, often used by Dark lords of the Sith, aka a “Darth”
Other colors include: Yellow, Purple, Magenta, Cyan.
There is also the DarkSaber which is a black blade with a white aura, it can block and cut through other lightsabers
Fun production fact: the real-world reason the green lightsaber was introduced in _Return of the Jedi_ was because there was so much filmed outside that they were concerned that a blue lightsaber would just blend in with the sky.
1. Sir. Alec Guinness/Obi-Wan didn't want the part. Being a Shakespearian actor, he thought the entire idea was silly and was beneath him, but his wife talked him into taking the part.
2. The shrug Chewy gives Luke after he scares the tiny black droid is 🤣
3. These movies were put out in a certain order because there was limited technology and Lucas used and pushed forward the images needed to make a quality product. The best way to watch the is in the order they came out. We had to wait years for the next one. There was no internet where we had access to them whenever we wanted.
4. No need to go into anything after VI. Disney took over and the quality dropped. I realize you have to.
5. The only CGI was put in for the 25th anniversary package in this film are the critters the stormtroopers were riding at the beginning of the search for the robots, a couple of the huge critters outside the pub, the scene with Jabba the Hutt and other minor changes. Those were put in later after CGI was available. Otherwise, everything is what we had in 1977.
6. Obi-Wan sacrificed himself after he told Vader he would be stronger than ever. He went back into the force. He knows it's Luke's job to take over.
7. The awkwardness in the detention space is because Ford didn't know his lines. It was kept in the movie anyway because it worked.
8. IMVHO the next two are the best of the series. Enjoy
That's a pretty fair summation in some ways, but, and I say this respectfully, heavy handed in others. I agree with you about the sequel trilogy (despite enjoying TFA a lot even if it was a recycling of ANH), the Disney + shows, while mostly not perfect, have ranged from very good to fantastic. Some being peppered with the best SW moments on screen. That's not to mention Rogue One being on of the best movies in the franchise. I rate it just behind ESB and ROTS.
By "after VI", do you mean release-wise, or timeline-wise? Or even both, because Rogue One and Solo take place before the original trilogy?
Because if you mean "release-wise", then you'd incorrect; the Prequel trilogy happened before Disney bought the brand.
@@MattTOB618 I mean after the original six Lucas films. After Disney took over it went to hell. On the bright side Disneyland/Disneyworld cost more now.😏
@@williamjones6031 I'd honestly argue that Rogue One is still a pretty good post-purchase Star Wars movie.
@@MattTOB618 Different strokes/Different folks.
Cool. Fresh eyes for starwars
@9:07 A famous, often overlooked, film flub. R5-D4, a.k.a. “Red”, is still shown next to R2-D2 even though he’s already been purchased and is now next to Luke with a bad motivator.
I noticed that on a rewatch some time ago and now that I've noticed it I can't unsee it. It's not like it ruins the entire scene for me or anything, but it does take me out of the scene for a second.
Happy Birthday!!! I hope you introduce Billy to the rest of the franchise. Great reaction to A new Hope. Keep going and I'll be watching. You guys are awesome
Thank you, Billy will be watching the others real soon.
A blast from the past! I was 11 years old in 1977, and it sold out 2 times. We saw Star Wars on the third try going to the movie theater. It was one of the first Sold Out Blockbusters! I subscribed to watch more Star Wars and others. Yes more Star Wars would be great! Thanks
Ok. I'm 90 seconds in, and you scored big points with "Only one canoli." First time watching anything on this channel. Already, I'm happy I clicked.
Welcome aboard!
I saw all three OT films when released, Empire is still my top fav.
Great reaction. Look forward to the next one. Keep them coming.
The lizards that the stormtroopers ride are called Dewbacks. At least that was the name of the toy I had.
Awesome reaction! Hope you guys do Empire and Return. Would be fun to watch Billy experience those.
I watched Star Wars in theaters back in the 1970s. Though the FXs was considered cutting edge state of the arts technology and even won numerous Oscars because of it, it wasn't as good as the version you are watching right now. What you are watching is the digitally remastered theatrical re-released version that was done for the 20th anniversary of this film (which I also saw in the cinema as well back in 1997).
The original version of Star Wars had the old fashioned halo effect around physical objects or actors that was filmed in front of a green screen. Plus there was a lot of stop motion claymation. Many of the ships were either miniatures or full size sets. And the beasts were either miniatures in from of green screens as well or full size animatronic puppets. In the 20th anniversary film there were also remastered deleted scenes added that were not in the original movie, like the scene with Jaba the Hut and Han Solo talking. But like I said it was still all new cutting edge technology for its time that blew all our minds away when we first saw it. So much so that lines were many many blocks long for months each year it was released in cinemas. I say each year because back then when a film was a big enough hit like Star Wars was it would come back in theaters each summer until the sequel premiered. We use to go see Star Wars every summer in the theater until The Empire Strikes Back premiered and then we did it all over again for the sequel as well each summer. Yes, each summer the place was still packed and sold out. It was just that popular of a movie.
📽🎞🚀🛸🤯🤩
Always enjoy watching a new Star Wars fan be born!!!
me buying lightsabers extiguishing my paycheck: more......MORE.......
me the day after: what have i done???
I have 10€ for the rest of the month!
YOU HAVE DONE THAT YOURSELF!!!!
The Best of All Time!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed your reaction. I’ve seen that movie I don’t bc even know how many times, but I was laughing with you all along
If you guys rewatch gotta be lights off to get the movie experience. Draws ya in a little more.
You will like Obi-wan even more come Episode 1-3
... originally released in 1977 as just "Star Wars" ... no episode name or number. They had no idea if the movie would be a hit or a bomb. At the time, it was just a single stand-alone movie with no sequels or prequels. Once they realized it was a hit, they started planning on the sequel, and the sequel was named "The Empire Strikes Back" and was given an episode number, and was released in 1980. When the first movie was re-released in 1981, for continuity sake, it was also given an episode number and a name of "A New Hope". But between 1977 and 1981, it was just "Star Wars".
32:29 run, Luke! Run! 😂
The lizards that the Stormtroopers are riding are dewbacks.
@30:03 AC/DC would be proud of Princess Leia. 😁
🤘🏿
I always wondered why there wasn’t more panic and urgency when they got back after blowing up the Death Star. Shouldn’t they be packing and fleeing the fleet of Star Destroyers that is undoubtedly already headed to their now not so secret base? “Nah, we’ll do this award ceremony first.” 🤦♂️
Great reaction, will be here for all the movies and hoping you don't overlook the animated shows after ending the Prequels. The animated shows are in many moments even better than the live action stuff and they add a lot to the movies also.
Stormtroopers can hit their Targets just not the main characters
Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise....
desert scenes filmed in Tunisia
No one ever mentions that Luke shot was clearly going to miss, and that he used the force to make it go in.
Also, Watch 4-6, then 1-3 and then Solo and Rogue One. Pretend 7-9 never existed lol
One thing is that your volume on the film is so low I can barely hear it. You need to bring it up.
PRIMERA VEZ VIENDO EL EPISODIO IV??? NO LA CREO !!!...
I gotta wonder, why did'nt Chewbacca get a medal?
Running joke at the gun range ... "Storm troopers shoot better than you"
@28:57 I was told that some of those are cameras and others are various types of sensors. That would explain why there are so many.
That's true. In the screenplay (which I just read online to be sure) it says they are: cameras and laser gate controls.
Everyone that watches the original trilogy of star wars always ask about what this or that is not realizing the movies they’re watching are the remakes with worthless added cgi footage I never understood why Lucas added that bs it adds nothing to the story
try the disco Star Wars theme
I'm still mad that Chewbacca didn't get a medal...😒
Nope I think they had coolsuits on.
Coolsuits are what racing drives use it goes under their race uniform. It has tubes all over the suit which runs cold water the a pack which keeps the water cool and runs it threw the tubes
It's how race car driver can do 150 laps in the hot summer without dieing. Of corse they also switch drives to.
May 25th is starwars day
If you've never seen The Hunger Games, then thats a great series you would love❤
Did you just ask if Mark Hamil one of the most famous persons on the planet became somebody?? Yes Luke MFN Skywalker. You can’t get more famous than that!
Yes sure that’s a correct statement …but I’ve never seen him in anything else …that’s what I was going for
have you watched the
Indiana Jones movies?
Billy hadn’t, he said that in the video. So we will most likely be doing that as well
Droid wiener? I always wondered how obiwan knew that r2d2 is he. What female astrodroids have?
2 bad u you guy just weren't yourselves
?
You should stop explaining things before the movie explains it. What you are doing has a name. Spoilers.
