Ive watched many of your videos, and so far this is the most elegant explanation of Go stategy. They examples of not taking too little or too much are the perfect advice for one of the first plateaus every Go newcomer encounters in their growth

And all of these videos are assembled together into the course of fundamentals on 13x13 =)

I like how you explain things so clearly and give some good basic direction and perspectives. I've watched a lot of other videos and while the people who make them certainly know what they're talking about and know the game inside out, they just don't quite connect with how it feels to be a newbie just starting out and learning from scratch. This game is kind of intimidating when one's starting out but these videos you've done are really good in offering some nice comfy places to start and develop from without feeling overwhelmed by it all. So, nice job. Love how you edit these videos too, gives them a nice charm.

Very helpful video as always!! Hikaru and Sai's mention was quiet surprising for me haha
The 3 stages thing is also in chess too.. we have opening, mid-game and Endgame.. but I feel Chess is about an Empire's War whereas Go is The Empire and its wars.
Anyways keep it up Sensei !! It is helping a lot 🙌 ^__^

Very interesting video. As a chess player trying out Go, there are many similarities. They almost feel like two sides of the same coin, with some properties inverted.
For example, the opening stage in chess is very different. It is the least open stage of the game, where memorization of beneficial strategies is key. This stage determines the flavour of the game. The middle game opens up with many tactical possibilities and the endgame is almost more art than science due to the staggering amount of options on the board.
Truly they feel like the Yin and Yang of classic board games.

    • @GoMagic

      Very well said!
Memorization plays a very significant role in modern Go openings too though...but it's possible to just improvise with the basics in mind.

Great video. Thanks. Could you make a video about the skill differences for different kyu level players?
What skills they acquire in order to move up. I think it might be interesting and maybe help many to focus on the right things.

Understand the three stages of Go - opening, middle game, and end game for strategic play. 0:03
Recognize the role of improvisation during the opening stage of Go for a flexible beginning. 0:13
Prepare for major combat and territory division during the middle game of Go to solidify your strategy. 1:05
Focus on finalizing territory and calculating precise move values in the end game of Go. 2:19
Avoid overconcentrating on one corner or area early in the game to prevent limiting your potential. 4:02
Consider territorial frameworks and the potential to build across the board rather than focussing on small definite areas. 5:19
Refrain from over-ambition without sufficient security, as it may lead to substantial losses in Go. 7:00
Aim for balance in your approach to Go, developing territories without overreaching or undershooting. 7:47
Occupying empty corners and taking sides along the 3rd and 4th lines is advisable at the start of the game. 7:57

Could you credit the artist of the sketches you show in the video? I don’t see a name credit in the description or video

Do I have to be good at math to be good at Go?

    • @GoMagic
      @GoMagic  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Nope. Go is more about pattern recognition, strategic thinking, and intuition.
