My setup is like this: During the day it turns on the camera. During the night it turns on the flashlight to max. Unless it is on sleep it turns on the flashlight to min. When I get to the gym, it pulls the gym membership card and turn on the fitness mode. When it is already in fitness mode, it start to play the playlist from music app. When I’m at work, it turns on the silence mode and pull out the next meeting schedule. When it is in DND mode, it records a voice memo. When I am roaming outside the country, it start the translate app. I just keep scramble things into the shortcut and it is getting huge.
Looking forward to getting my 15 Pro Max soon! I'm hoping I can set up an action button to start playing and shuffle a specific spotify playlist when connected to my vehicles bluetooth!

I made my button have a list of different things to do, it drops down a list, does mute, flashlight, opens a note, safari, camera or measure app. You can also make it take you directly to a website if you use certain sites a lot. Shortcuts just makes the button do literally anything you want it to, except a double press or a triple press lol.

what I want to see is developers be able to build in native support for action button functionality for 3rd party apps rather than just relying on the shortcuts app which has latency to it.
My action button executes this shortcut: detect what song is playing, find the album for this song, then attach the album to my music library. If executed on apple watch Ultra with action button then additionally to above it will vibrate my watch twice so I don't even have to look at it and still know if new album has been added to my library.
Mine is mapped to take a screenshot and save to photos (much easier than the regular method) and as a bonus, if it’s in DND or Sleep focus modes, it toggles the Flashlight.
The action button sure is a bit overwhelming for me... more like... the possibility of this button is pretty much limitless, so I am still thinking about what I truly want it to do. For now, it is just a fast camera button until I have decided what it will truly do
I'm sure there's a possibility to program a shortcut in such way it "touches" a certain area of your screen, so that you don't have to press it with your finger
they really need to allow multiple mappings. 3 clicks for x, 2 for y, 1 for z, long for the ringer. like wtf Can't map it to auto-brightness, true tone, or any other setting value. it only allows you open an app faster, which is dumb
Could you please make a video going into the details of the wireless charging efficiency in the different Apple products and different wireless charging options?. My feeling is wireless charging in general is only about 50% efficient, meaning for each 10W the charger takes out of the power outlet, only 5W finally reach the device battery... which I think is radically less than wired charging.... If you find out this to be true in your research, it could mean that every body who switches to wireless charging will be roughly doubling the electrical power used to charge its phone.... Which can be a huge impact if you multiply by the millions of mobile phone owners worldwide…. Environmental implications might be really high..
the best thing to do with the Action Button is to use the Action App and have the Action button does different thing based on the device orientation. When my iphone is upright the button will turn on flash, on the side it will start camera app, and when it's faced up it will toggle silent mode. Lots if things you can program based on orientation.
I definitely appreciate you giving suggestions for resources that can help with developing shortcuts. I have the hardest time creating those things. I’m a traditional programmer I would love to see a straightforward scripting environment that allowed me to create shortcuts. However, I know that’s probably never gonna happen. But using Shortcuts I always have trouble finding the proper objects to use. I normally do especially for Home. Automation related items is do it in Home Assistant and then from Shortcuts call the automation or that has been configured in Home Assistant. I would like to get more proficient. I will certainly check out those resources. Thank you.

Single or double tap is nice. Voice command control would be great. The user would call out to Siri, say with a word like '1038" the shortcut's app would launch safely. A list of all the shortcuts under that word would be available.. 1038 is only an example, for security reasons, however it could be the context for your work/office activity, or travel, or whatever.. When the phone is in silent mode, and an incoming call comes in, is it possible to turn off the silent mode by pressing the action button (so that the phone rings during the call)?
I found an orientation shortcut that checks for not just portrait or landscape orientation, but it checks for face up and face down. So my map is: Landscape Left: turn off portrait orientation lock Landscape Right: turn on portrait orientation lock Portrait: open camera in video mode Face Up: toggle ring mode Face Down: toggle flashlight I can see immediate activation when I map it this way. My favorite feature of iPhone 15 pro hands down.
Rotation lock toggle reminds me of the older iPads that used to have a switch similar to the mute switch and you could choose for it to be a rotation lock toggle. I miss that. Maybe iPads will get an action button next.

It’d be cool to have it send a “help” txt message to my wife when I’m at work and press the button. That way when she gets the message she can call me and get me out of a conversation, meeting, etc 😂
That’s honestly a really good idea. Like someone could do what you just said, but use it to have someone call them if a date is going bad and want to get out of it lol. Kudos for the idea.
I dont like this button, you know if you always press this button from time to time it will wears off. I’m still ok with the double or triple tap feature at the back, more convenient and futuristic.
i liked it a lot when i had the jailbreak and the activator tweak, it´s like the action button, the volumen Up i set it up to next song and the volumen Down to play previous, i was magnificent while riding my bike going with the bus. I hope you can make something like this with this new button.

Neural Link On : If it could. I’d have the button be a consenting action reaction to allow iPhone or Apple Watch to respond to an active neural link between Siri and my internal THOUGHT. Not unlike a Siri Suggestion - I think ‘what’s 2+2’ while holding the device and on the press I consent to iPhone ‘actioning’ my personal thoughts and then delivers a response or action based off of that thought. Instead of needing to speak directly to Siri in order to achieve an operation, iPhone accesses the prompt through some hypothetical biometric reading of brain function and presents a response or appropriate Siri Suggestion.

I have a iPhone 13 Pro and mini. I use accessibility to tap the back of the iPhone to get a new function.
As @antilopo mentioned above, a double click second option or even a long press-hold second option would expand the capabilities of the Action Button.

I will assume you are not serious. But in case you are, then just create new shortcut, then search for ‘silent’ it’s there.
Shortcut: go to Home Screen, removes need to swipe up from Lock Screen
But nobody can figure out how to make it so you could do a double click or triple click
