If I'm not mistaken, I believe that they recorded each track (as in the layers of the songs, individual instruments) individually through the actual hardware. Then they mixed and mastered it from there. Which is why it sounds so good.
The stock Genesis amplification circuitry on certain models had some ...quirks. These recordings are partially from a console modified to get around that, as well as recorded from the hardware the music was composed on: the PC-88.
Some of the tracks are recorded from an actual MegaDrive, others are recorded from the PC-88. There's a list that indicates the source on the back of the vinyl's folder.

The brand I've been using is audio-technica. Have been using this turntable for almost 4 years now without any issues I think I would recommend this player but it's pretty pricey. They also have a cheaper turntable they sell that seems decent. Check Amazon for good reviews on turntables and try a little bit of research and look for one with the features you want

Yuzo Koshiro was on a whole other level at that time. Great talent is never compromised by the technology or lack there of at it's disposal.

It's ripped through USB. I mute the audio recorded through my phone's speakers and replace it with the high-quality USB audio
