I started to cry! This hits too close to home 4 years in the multimedia business and sobrang sakit para sakin na sa totoo lang, ang baba ng tingin satin lalo na kung "Photoshop lang naman daw" yung ginagawa. Seriously. 2 dollars per Instagram post? Kahit ikaw as a freelancer mag insist ka na thats not the correct price, sasabihin nila sa yo na madali lang naman yung work and bakit ang mahal mo.

I started video editing over 10 years ago as a hobby, then close friends and associates started to notice me. Sa aking na sila nagpapagawa ng mga video and photo editing nila para sa kasal, binyag, birthday at iba pa. Syempre libre lang kasi hindi naman ako professional, kapa-kapa lang diskarete. As thought myself how to improve, mas madami na lumalapit at humihingi ng pabor sa kanila. Then, I started to charge para lang sa expenses and time na ginugol ko sa trabaho. Basically, my charge rate is "bahala ka na lang" system.
Sa iba okay lang, pero meron namang iba na sasabihan pa ako ng "madali lang naman yan" "kung ako may PC, baka mas maganda pa gawa ko sa iyo eh" I also remember one saying "drag and drop lang naman yan diba?"
Kahit na anong explain ko sa kanina na hindi lang yan yung cost ng editing, for some, parang mas marunong pa sila sayo.
I quit editing soon after a year. Masakit para sa akin iwanan yung bagay na nagusthan ko gawin pero I have to do it for these obvious reason. Salamat sa pag explain kung ano ba talaga nanyayari sa likod ng camera. Dahil sa Vlog mo, I'm sure maraming tao magiging aware kung gaano kahirap ang ganitong uri ng trabaho.

Hi Bani Logronio! Thankyou for sharing us the proper way of charging for a multimedia product. I am also a Photographer, Videographer, Filmmaker, and Editor. I started since 2018 and until now I'm still learning. I started to accept paid projects ngayon lang na 2020 and my first project cost 500 Pesos for 5 3-min videos. I only used Filmora that time kasi di pa ako marunong mag premiere pro noon, ni katiting kasi di naman ako mayaman para bumili nun. Since classmates ko sila, I accepted it and I invested money for fare, electricity and skills for that. I worked on it well and on the day of the presentation, they did have a standing ovation from our teachers. I expect them to pay me but pinapatagal pa nila. Then Covid came, I only accepted 200 Pesos and It was devastating. Gusto ko silang pagalitan, gusto ko magrant kaso di ako ganun, mabait ako sa kanila so napaluha na lang ako. Now I feel motivated again and I'm ready to do the right thing. Kudos kuya Bani! God Bless

Tips for clients: If you’re unsure about how much it costs to hire an editor, just post your job listing and say “email your video reel and rates”, and you can go from there and negotiate. And lastly, know your priorities:
Lower quality work = cheap and fast
Expensive = fast and good quality
Long production timeline = good quality and cheap
Tips for editors: Watch this video how to price yourselves. Know your worth. If you think the rate’s too low for you, move on and look for more gigs that’s right for you

Eh marami pa ngang profession ang mas minamaliit at mas kawawa, ganyan na ba ka entitled at kataas ang tao na kahit indirect lang yung sinabi eh highly offended na agad at minamaliit daw. I came from an industry na tingin samin katulong o utusan but i never take others criticism as offense but motivation at nakita ko yung output ng paghihirap ko towards sa nangmaliit sakin non.. well di lahat pareho pero kung ako sa katayuan ng editor maiintindihan ko kasi di ako sensitive na tao. All reasons are valid, its just people only hear what they wanna hear. Adios!

Watched it. I'm a video editor also in our university. I accept projects from students. Hindi ko rin alam sa sarili kung paano mag-charge sa clients. Nag-cha-charge ako kasi ng P100 per minute plus other labors. Salamat sa video mo.

True! And one important thing to consider is time. How long you need to edit a video, how long is the video output.. If you're also the one shooting, what is the hourly rate..
This is a good base point before considering other factors such as licensing (music, etc), creativity, experience, and so much more😁
It's always difficult to put $$$ on a creative work, but it'll get easier if you know what's your worth😉

Very informative. For sure yung mga barat na clients magiging aware sa rate ng mga video editors. Walang madaling trabaho lahat pinag hihirapan.
Thank you po for elaborating the costs kasi may part time ako as an editor and dahil po sa video niyo, nalaman ko na napakababa pala talaga ng charge ko per photo where as natutunan ko na mali pala yung P50 per photo yung charge. Thank you sa video sir! I think Clients needs to see this if they're gonna hire freelancers. Just to give them heads-up, hindi ganon kadali ang trabaho namin. Costs, rents, and effective communication are essential to get your end-product. But for ZenPro, I think he really needs enlightenment kasi medjo minamaliit niya yung Industriya ng Designers at Editors.

OMAYGAD. I'm not even done watching. This is so REAL. This is the video I've been waiting for, for so long. Pag may barat ng client isend natin tong link agad 😅 Even 10-15seconds of video, it's not that easy, and it'll take even some more time than the longer ones based on complexity. Irerender mo pa. Also, learn to put how many revision (s) they're allowed to.

I'll just leave a tip to our creatives and editors who are struggling to get work and settling for less. Pwede ka tumanggi. Wag kang magpabarat ng presyo mo. I'll rather work on a personal project na choice ko instead of working on a project na maliit ang bayad and di worth it sa skills mo.
In the meantime if wala ka pang clients just keep grinding. Post your work on media sites like Facebook, Twitter, IG, and many more. Malay mo you might get clients from different countries who would like to work with you.

while i do more on software programming this also happen to us aswell, mas worst pa dahil kesa dito. Kasi pwede kang takbuhan and they can still use the source code and give to another programmer that offers cheap.
Dapat sa mga freelancer should know their worth, clients will respect you if you know your worth. If not they will abused you! Hindi masama na mag charge nang mata-as if you are worth it.

Wow! Salamat po sa advice. Ngayon alam ko na kung pano mag rate ng mga gawa ko. At masasabi ko na luging lugi ako sa mga past kung clients. Minsan May nagpagawa sakin ng 3 designs for tshirt. Tapos yung bigay lang saakin 700. Di nako umangal kasi wala akong idea kung magkano dapat ang tamang presyo. ☹️ Pati sa portraits at pagkuha ko ng mga litrato. Pinakamataas na natanggap ko mula sa client ko ay P1500 for wedding video. Laging sabi saakin ng ibang artist na ganyan talaga, nag uumpisa sa mababa kaya no choice. 🤷🏼♂️ Kaya salamat po sa advice.💕

Honestly dahil mabilis mag evolve ang technology mas nagiging convenient at mas pinapadali na lang ang pag i-edit di katulad dati sobrang hirap mag edit, di lang naman po nang yayari yan sa ganyang industry kahit sa field ko na I.T. ang baba rin ng kita namin kahit sobrang hirap ng ginagawa namin, dahil yan sa competition kaya ganyan na lng tingin ng iba
I'm also a editor and my tf was range 5-8k per vid because I know my editing skills, plus effort. To all editors out there know your worth guys.

Ive been editing for various of content creators for awhile now. And I am not confident enough to rate myself because IF EVER I rate myself, I get anxious that if rate lets say a bit high?? They might say "Ay ang mahal naman sige thanks iba na lang" that stuff.
Thats why I let my clients rate me. My minimun rate would be 400-500 playing along side there.

At least man lang nilagyan nya yung post na for beginners only or beginners and intermediate experience are welcome, pero ala eh. The main money in the international platform/company he's streaming is $dollars at least research and base it from the minimum standard of that industry in the same currency then convert, mas fair pa siguro yon sa karamihan. Hindi talaga maiwasan na meron talagang "Low Ballers" na nangyayari talaga at isang insulto or hindi katanggap-tanggap
sa mga Professional, Talented, at matatagal na sa Industriya.

When i started in the graphic arts industry, i was accepting those $2-$5 per work and that was like back in 2011. It may be minimum but the clients i had were kind enough to even give tips and referred me to their friends and other companies. They even increased the pay after a few transactions i had. Thinking about it, those were international clients. Local clients even since 2011 are pricing it really low and no tips or bonus or even referrals.
That is why i am also targeting international clients rather than local. For me, local is just for part time
