"We bullied the studio into changing the character but I don't think that's going to work here" is true! For two big reasons 1. You have to actually give a crap about the quality of movie you're making and its series, and when the director states that this is their idea of a Minecraft movie design that won't "enrage the 10 year olds", it becomes stupidly obvious that they do not actually care about either of those things. 2. There isn't any one specific thing they'd have to fix like with Sonic, who only needed one character to be fixed. They'd have to change the entire movie. Every single asset would need to be changed. They're doomed to fail from the start BECAUSE they're already at an unfixable stage.

Them hitting their war drums as they fly into battle, carried by the really good looking ghasts. Not to mention how they look like they could be a Minecraft mob in real life. 2. Even though the hyper-realistic things aren’t the best, the animations for them are actually really nice and smooth, their mouths and heads moving as if they were real is actually super nice. 3. I’d like to say how despite how hyper-realistic it is, the fur and wool on the animals actually look pretty good. A fluffy creeper is not something I knew I needed. 4. I sorta like how the characters don’t blend with the world right, it makes it more surreal and makes it feel more like they’re people who have entered an actual new plane of their reality. 5. Honestly, having Stave be a character who has been in that world for a long time and gone crazy would make sense, it sorta reminds me of Press Start to Laugh’s “What if Steve Talked in Minecraft?”. 6. *Jack Black.* Personally, I am excited for the movie. It looks like it could actually be an interesting movie if done right. There is a bit of hope in there. This gives me some hope that this’ll be a movie that I could rate above-average, but considering it’s not out yet and we don’t know the plot, I’ll give it a rating of ‘Just-enough’.

I'm not sure they're gonna change how this movie looks like how they changed Sonic. For Sonic they had to change how one character looks, for this movie it's literally everything. That's gonna be way too much effort and money.
I think it would be possible if they had already made the animated/CGI characters. However, instead of showing them in the trailer, they just showed the cast. It doesn't seem like they even put much detail or effort into the costumes because they didn't need it in the first place.
I think it's pretty safe to assume this trailer is legit given what we've seen of Hollywood over the last decade. But I will admit, it would be one of the most epic trolls in the history of current cinema to come out with another trailer that's actually a completely different movie (and much better) and clown on all the negative press the original trailer got. I started playing Minecraft in 2012, and even tho I do play the game every once in a while, you're right, I could care less about a Minecraft movie, but when my brother said it was people green screened into the world my response was "That sounds horrendous". As I’ve said before, I think a good Minecraft movie should feature Minecraft with real life graphics. And it should feature Steve, either as a lone survivor of world or a traveler. Both without memory. And he goes on adventures to learn how to survive and works his way into The End to kill the Ender Dragon to save the world or find his way back home. And maybe have creepy scenes like the Minecraft noises in a dark mine, the Warden, and nighttime survival of escape creepers and such. Maybe even meeting Alex and taming a wolf for the nostalgia experience. Herobrine and other myths should be added too.

I started playing Minecraft in 2012, and even tho I do play the game every once in a while, you're right, I could care less about a Minecraft movie, but when my brother said it was people green screened into the world my response was "That sounds horrendous". So, yeah, if it's a publicity stunt it worked to get me interested. Still not seeing the movie tho.

As I’ve said before, I think a good Minecraft movie should feature Minecraft with real life graphics. And it should feature Steve, either as a lone survivor of world or a traveler. Both without memory. And he goes on adventures to learn how to survive and works his way into The End to kill the Ender Dragon to save the world or find his way back home. And maybe have creepy scenes like the Minecraft noises in a dark mine, the Warden, and nighttime survival of escape creepers and such. Maybe even meeting Alex and taming a wolf for the nostalgia experience. Herobrine and other myths should be added too.
You are absolutely right, but also, making a movie bad on purpose makes me loathe its very existance, so there is no way in hell I'm actually watching that shit.
