I’m the proud owner of this bottle and blind bought as I was interested in trying a leather fragrance. I’ve seen a lot of negative comments on this fragrance so I was expecting to be shocked. First impressions are of a strong character yet light, beautifully balanced. It brings back memories of polished wooden floors and artists studios. It calms me and I’m looking forward to getting to know it better. I love this channel! Thank you Richmitch😊
@@jonathanmitchellmittencoll1191 hello! Thanks for buying, I think you'll learn more and more about it as you spend more time with it. I'm glad it's gone to a good home and Thanks for watching! 🫂
@RichMitch fudge... that or Bel Ami or Antaeus... I can't choose, but some days there are curveballs like puredistance M or Roja Fetish Pour Homme...so many good leathers to enjoy as a leather lover now a days 🤗🤌🐏🦆
I am interested in this as I search for a great leather (but I am picky as a woman wearing leather). I am eyeing a bottle of Dior Cuir Cannage on ebay but your review has me thinking of this one. Serge Lutens is tough to get here in the US!!
Cheers Rich , definitely a fantastic fragrance, then it’s a sheldrake and this genre is his bread and butter, what a perfumer, simply superb, much appreciated Rich 🤛💪👊
Happy new years! can you do a review on nombre noir? ;) i have this perfume now in 60ml edp concentration and want to know your thoughts on it! I absolutely think its stunning.
Used to have that same Gratte Ciel bottle couple years ago and swapped it, I still have a few drops of a decant that I'm trying right now to confirm my past impressions: I get more of a floral, spicy, sweet animalic scent with a bit of leather, but the whole composition strikes me off harshly synthetic, almost cleaning product vibes (at least in the opening). Not to put off your sale (I doubt anyone reads my comment) but I'd stick with Knize Ten (also used to have) which I think this is inspired from and save a few bucks haha
They're discontinuing the Gratte Ciel bottles? Where do you find this information? I feel like the brand is going through so many questionable changes and I seem to be out of the loop. I just found out a week ago that my beloved La Couche du Diable is being transitioned to the bell jars. I have no idea what's going on with this brand anymore.
That's the best news coming out of SL for a long time, horrendous bottles. Leather scents have always been a love for me and it's been a journey of discovery. Like you, some that I had liked in the past I've moved on, tastes change. You're the first that has mentioned Derby when discussing this, for me there certain nuances in Derby that come to mind straightaway.
@@LEgoiste yeah it's the leather built from ibq that strikes me as very similar mate. Those gratte ciel were so off brand, it really jarred with the previous aesthetic

Great review Rich. I’m glad they are getting rid of those bottles to be honest. Hope you’re doing ok?

The stars have aligned and the result is 🤌🏻
It feels like industrial tanning hyde leather quite heavy, like what Guerlain did with Cuir Intense
Have you ever smelled Guerlain's old cuir De russie
@@RichMitch
We need Brandon's help about that gem.
@@RichMitch yes luckily enough got to try it at the sadly banished Guerlain boutique, it was a green floral and mossy chypre

For this style of leather I've been enjoying Cuir Fétiche by MPG quite a bit, though I expect you may find it too floral

Top 3 Lutens for me. The sweet, powdery open leading to the sweaty drydown is very fun and naughty. Sorta goth idk.
