I am feeling like this with around 70 bottles, excluding decants and samples, can't imagine with 350+. At some point buying feels more exciting than the actual fragrance and I almost avoid the fragrances I like to wear new stuff more and more. Great video as always
Love this video! One of the best things about how your collection is going is how happy you are with it. A lovely feeling ❤️ thank you for your channel, introducing us to some great brands and for creating a lovely community here! 🙏❤️🦆
For me this hobby - not perfume buying but perfume loving and discovering - is about great smart funny intelligent people in the community with whom we’ve initially connected over perfume. In your case it’s you, Ramsey, Eugene - a dream team. Except, I highly doubt that’s be the spouses’ opinion😂
Fantastic video, wholeheartedly agree with your introductions and I applaud you for keeping the herd thin. I start getting anxiety when I see that I have more than I could ever wear. Thanks for sharing Rich.
Recently pulled all my bottles off the shelf to do a state of the collection. 546 bottles not including backups. My goal this year is to get rid of all my dupes from early collecting as well as 50% of the collection. I think 250 bottles for now seems “reasonable” 😂 In 2025 I will no longer be a collector I will be a curator

It seems to be pretty common, to start collecting dozens and dozens of dupes, then move to collecting designers, then niche. I got rid of 95% of my lattafas and other dupes recently, gave them all to family and friends, but i still want to start decluttering some designers now… 😅
The duck put it perfectly. I don’t like the idea of dupes but the pricing structure of designers and niche perfumes is ridiculous I see why people start their journey with clones
I still want to grow mine but I do admit, when I have bottles at the back of my closet that don't ever get a look in, things like Guerlain Ambre Eternel or Krizia Teatro, maybe that's when I should slim it down!
Good goals. I have realized my favorite genre is vintage designer, a particularly heartbreaking preference given the uncertainties around aging and preservation. I still enjoy many new releases but that particular subcategory is the most exciting for me and I am trying to buy them thoughtfully.
Your comment about brands selling nice looking bottles and fragrance being secondary is insightful. I’ve sold a lot of my collection last year because I didn’t wear them very often and it felt silly keeping a pretty bottle on my shelf that I’m not going to use. That’s me tho, I don’t consider myself a collector nor do I want to be one. I enjoy your channel along with a couple others in fragcom and getting recommendations for fragrances to sample.
I’ve been looking into buying vintage perfumes , I’m tired of all the trendy stuff that’s being coming out nowadays . Wanted to buy from someone I trust. I saw that you sold some perfumes I was looking for. So I def look at your list. Appreciate it!
Just stopped myself from buying a bottle which my good friend with great taste loves. I tried it and didn’t care for it. But till the very last moment I was considering buying it just because of her opinion and a 60% discount. I’m a not a collector (well, maybe about 10% in me is). But I’d love to eradicate these 10% and only have what I adore and wear.
Glad to hear that the selling is going well. 👌 Letting things go should be second nature. Couldn't agree more about the role of community too. The connections we'll take with us, not the perfumes.
@@deluxelex9056 I feel you on the cycle. Try to trend down the size of the collection, make it a direction rather than a goal. goals can be useful but they're too rigid imo, especially if you pair them up... Gotta reach a certain amount in a certain amount of time, it is supposed to be fun
Great concept. Amen brother...Ebay tells me I have sold 142 items, 140 are fragrances. I want to cull to about 50 or so. I want to be able to say that each bottle I pick up day to day are absolute loves. The rotating in and out will continue when I find a new love or an old love dwindles.... stupendous
@RichMitch no worries! I appreciated your comparison between the Chanel experience and the Dior experience. I too find Chanel boutiques intimidating-but I prefer their fragrances to Dior because I feel stronger when I wear Chanel. As someone who identifies as female, it can be hard to feel beautiful and strong at the same time. When I wear something beautiful or sexy, some people find that suggestive that I want to give them something. Sometimes I want to feel beautiful or sexy for myself, and Chanel gives me that. Hope that makes sense
I can understand your desire to grow your channel and become more ‘professional’. But that usually entails an inauthenticity creeping in. Holding back of real opinions etc. so I’ll fear the growth (insert inspirational 90’s wall art here) I’ll always love the real rich Mitch.
