How mesmerising is this tone? Seriously makes you feel lost in space or something, can't explain it. I mean it in a good way anyways. Excellent tone, especially when the harmonics are ringing :D.
You see all these shredders now adays and think what they do is amazing, then you see videos like this and realise its nothing new, that guys were doing it 30 years ago. Only difference is back in the 80s it was about style and melody as well as speed.
The 80's and the 90's was full of fucking amazng guitarist, all was good and bring their own touch and style, was rich and famous just sometime their talent was underrated, now the good guitarist like this are rare, are not rich and famous, and still underrated :/ Love the way he use sustainer ;)
@trancemajestic I prefer Reb Beach's playing over Vai's but Vai has mastered more scales and modes and guitar techniques. Reb Beach has even admitted to only using two scales, the blues and Mixolydian. Reb Beach is rock and roll and Vai is "Avant Garde". Having said all this, the reason I like Reb Beach more is because his tapping is in a league of its own and he can write amazing rhythms. Rythms like "Seventeen", "Hanging On" and "Cutting Loose" for example.
no, its because he plucks the next string with his ring finger as he ascends. look at the "reb beach tapping v2.0" video on youtube to see what i mean. Or just watch his cutting loose video
@Artybruh Reb never admitted to using only two scales. He's said in the past he most frequently uses blues, minor pentatonic, and mixolydian sure. But I've heard him use phrygian, major, minor, lydian, diminished, and even harmonic minor occasionally. Not nearly as frequent as the other 3 sure but he has used them. Nevertheless it is true that Vai knows more.
Maybe i am wrong but one trick for his tappings sound smooth is that because he uses the pickups very far from the strings... (Sorry for my bad english)
Both the red guitar, and the natural guitar he plays in the Madelaine video were made by John Suhr. Reb has stated that he used his Suhr guitars to record the Winger debut album, and he prefers them over every Kramer and Ibanez guitar that he has ever used, including his Ibanez signature guitars. The Kramer and Ibanez guitars looked better, IMO, but apparently, those Suhr guitars play like magic. I would love to have that blue Kramer Pacer, that he used in the Seventeen video. LOVE that guitar. Original Kramer guitars are awesome.
r u mad? paul gilbert has a unique string skipping and hard picking.. the 2 of them are awesome, they r different but similar .. just don't compare. you can listen to the two.

I've seen Reb in concert many times, and he always amazes me. He's also very down to earth. A hell of a guy!

awesome
Reb is so COOL!!!!!!!!
go hear his kickass solos and other stuff on Wingers albums!
He also made the hottest guitar shape in my opinion with his Ibanez Voyager shape I say!
Maybe i am wrong but one trick for his tappings sound smooth is that because he uses the pickups very far from the strings... (Sorry for my bad english)
Axeman8,it this one must be an '87 Kramer Pacer Deluxe with EMG's on.Great guitar and guitarist too!!
at the time, he was the best of the rest. very underated.
Has anybody tried transcribing this?
get one of these and put an emg 85 in the bridge or emg 89 if you want coil-tap and 2 emg SA single coils if u wanna sound simmilar to reb Beach.
i want that guitar
unique
no i havent. send me a link where i can hear it.
OK OK REB is like freeeeeaky kewl. He should give Paul Gilbert some lessons, lol...
same here man. paul gilbert is my favorite of all.
@Artybruh is he better than vai?
That's his pacer deluxe proto. In the "Madalaine" video, he plays his red pacer deluxe. In that video what guitar does the second guitarist play?

Winger was great live.
I think that´s a Pacer Deluxe. Kramers kick ass big time i have a baretta 3 and it´s the best!!!
Mixolydian harmonics!!!
Stuart was right. Winger rules!
which model you use?
I am my favorite guitar player, anyway Reb is ok, so is Paul... hehehehe
dat low action
nuno Bettencourt 1:24
Herman Li would probably say it "tliangers".
he sounds a bit like van halen (or van halen sounds like him)
@Pencilhead202 Because the mass media and general public are sadly fickle.
r u mad?
paul gilbert has a unique string skipping and hard picking..

@4Kars Wouldn't you say a bit more like Nuno (Bettencourt?) Just sayin' As in "He man woman hater???"
Hello, how are you doing it is nice to seeing you hear
Why’d he trade this Kramer for that Ibanez with the stupid bridge cutaway
nah, he sounds like eddie. But I do love this guy though
Sweep picking ya lemah...tapping Sdh Ada EVH
Reb is way better tapper than Nuno Bettoncourt, but Nuno is way funkier!!!
just imitates EVH
Reb Beach is a good guitarist but Eddie smokes the hell out of him
Nah
