A very highly regarded but severely under rated guitarist. Reb is one of the best and always has been. I have been listening to this guy since the 80's.
I was a more thrash metal guy back in the 80's but loved reb beach.... i ttended a guitar clinic outside of philly back then and got to meet him and he demonstrated his tap technique...it was a little different than typical tapping but sounded lightning clean and fast.. nice guy, great guitar player. Though i would never admit it back then. I had to maintain the metal image...crazy times but i learned alot and i missed out on alot of great music because we considered them POSERS. It was stupid but i had a secret crush (guitar crush) on Reb. I hope he is well today. Legend!
what make him so good is hes one of the few that can make an entire song sound epic and not even strum the stings most the times its mostly taping and hammers ons and wammy
in addition to being his signature guitar at the time, the Ibanez Voyager model with a Floyd Rose original tremolo. the secret to Rebs tone were the pickups he used, they were EMG SA-SA 89. with the 89 in the bridge position.
Yeah, he uses that scale all the time still. He really makes it sound awesome. Its a rocking scale, John Petrucci's Glasgow Kiss is also a good example of mixolydian.
Gotta love rebs style!! He's definately the man when it comes to tapping and use of the floyd!!! He's definately the man even more because he played kramers!!
Reb in one of my influences, probably my influence, and i can say that he is the one. here are reb, and there are others. If i see that men, ill only say "thanks for all", you only need to see that solo to understand what i feel. (srry about my english) ^^
Reb beach stands alone and above most other guitar gods in the area of MELODY. Most shredders ..Malmsteen, Satriani, Vai, etc sound technically excellent in solos but its not really musically moving . i think Reb has the best FEEL in solos. And his tapping is the best . Most guitarists fly through it like a show of speed and flash with no substance. Rebs notes typically have a full even, clean MUSICAL sound. The only one I see that plays, arranges these complex solos as if they are actually songs. Incredible talent.
He used Dimarzio pickups in the past. He no longer uses Dimarzios and hasnt for about 6 years. His new guitars all come with Suhr DSH bridge pickups and Suhr single coils. He has EMG pickups on his #2 RB Suhr from the mid 90's. The Dimarzios were used when he was in Dokken.
WOW I know when he swiches strings, he will pluck the next string with his ring finger - I think a lot of guys just hammer on with their left hand. I'm not big on Fancy Shred licks - but this doesn't even sound like a guitar!
He used to use Marshalls, then he used Custom Audio Electronics stuff by Bob Bradshaw, and last year he was at NAMM using Suhr amps, he plays John Suhr guitars too. Hope that helps?, Matt .
reb beach, yngwie malmsteen, EVH, Steve vai, nuno bettencourt and tom morello should get together and make an album. It would be freaking epic. Drums- the drummer from DMB Bass-Pat Badger Vocals-Gary Cherone it would be the album of the year
WHERE IS Reb Beach anyway .... (seriously, i type ''reb beach'' into my mo-peds's GPS ... and it keeps sending me to the old ''Son of the Beach'' lots where it got fimed WAY back in the Howerd Stern days) uuuuuhhhhh .... ( am i being punished for some karma-krap thing again ?) ... ha ha ... sry Reb Beach ... i had to toss a joke in there man!!!!!!!!!)
i wish guitarists of this kind of calibre would switch keys or switch keys more often (nothing fancy ... like a step or 2 or even a half a step ... i guarantee ppl would like it if it's transitioned just right and not overdone
I do wonder how much music is in his head. I know he can play the shit out of the instrument and make sounds nobody else can make, but can he put a couple phrases together and make a melodic line. I think people are too distracted by the, "Whoa, man! That shit sounds cool" part. It really does get old...same with many other thrashers. Regardless, he sounds fantastic on the instrument. P.S., Reb, don't go sharp on your slide up to high Eb. It's very high.
@pornograwesome I don't know if its called anything but all hes doing is shredding with his left hand and scraping his pick and his right hand against the strings.
@pornograwesome It would sound like YJM Shredding the whole while. with Reb trying to keep up (Via tap) of which would kill Evh (tap for tap) Vai And Morello trying to see who is more diffrent. and Nuno Keping rythm with some funky riffs (i know that a jam isn a competition but thats how it would sound)....
Reb Reb ... or anyone .... hey that phenomanol-ness of a guitar sound being generated by ''open-tuning''? (if it is ... then look out .. cuz now everyone will want tTHAT sound within 5 - 7 mins of of plugging in! >> WHY ? .... lol ... what ARE you, deaf?
As much as i respect reb for his skill, he still boils down to an 80s glam rocker who taps, shreds pentatonics and performs predictable wammy-bar tricks
God... the more I listen to him, the more I’m convinced that he is the absolute best there is.
Same. Even if just for that period.
japan always brings the best out of rockers
Fr evh. Yjm. Reb. Lil all rockers who solo there play there best solos in japan
His tapping technique is extraordinary! Reb's a master.
A very highly regarded but severely under rated guitarist. Reb is one of the best and always has been. I have been listening to this guy since the 80's.
I remember that cat in NY as a session player. Before the Winger fame. Check out, "So Close" by Chaka Khan.
There is something magic in this solo and in those tapping technique licks...😮
He played with Winger, then Alice Cooper, then Dokken, now he's back with Winger. Brilliant player.
black swan too
Reb certainly hasn't got the props he deserves...Phenomenal player!
Wow! Am I the only one blown away with Reb's awesome guitar work? This is what classic Rock music was about.
wauw man, he makes his guitar sound like a symphony!
This guy knows what he is doing
Very engaging, clean, smart...dear god this is an awesome solo.
Just Great!!! Very creative, diferent but always sounding like a 80´s guitarist... Just Great!!
I like his hair that way much more than his flat hair these day!
so do i'
astounding. timeless!!
the tone is so awesome omg
in addition to being his signature guitar at the time, the Ibanez Voyager model with a Floyd Rose original tremolo. the secret to Rebs tone were the pickups he used, they were EMG SA-SA 89. with the 89 in the bridge position.
cool.. i love him
Hello, how are you doing it is nice to seeing you hear
his guitar face is AWESOME!
20 years later he's still a beast
that whammy shit is fucking incredible
What a BEAST!
Takes legato to an extreme. Same reason I like Nuno's playing.
Yeah, he uses that scale all the time still. He really makes it sound awesome. Its a rocking scale, John Petrucci's Glasgow Kiss is also a good example of mixolydian.
Reb is amazing briliant guitar player i love his typing and has unique sound
how the hell does he play like that? he's an 80s god!
One of the most underated guitar players ever. Never got his due because Winger came around at the end of the "hair metal" era and grunge took over.
Reb Rules but let’s be real…nothing about Winger was that great.
This guy is pretty good.
i love his face at 1:00 he look sso happy lol
Gotta love rebs style!!
He's definately the man when it comes to tapping and use of the floyd!!!
He's definately the man even more because he played kramers!!
He and Vito Bratta were insane!!
Reb in one of my influences, probably my influence, and i can say that he is the one.
here are reb, and there are others.

So frikin underrated period.
Reb beach stands alone and above most other guitar gods in the area of MELODY.

This is my favourite live solo
great guitar playing !!
woot, i will get to see this guy in 9 days while drinking beer! i cant wait!!! :)
He used Dimarzio pickups in the past. He no longer uses Dimarzios and hasnt for about 6 years. His new guitars all come with Suhr DSH bridge pickups and Suhr single coils. He has EMG pickups on his #2 RB Suhr from the mid 90's.
The Dimarzios were used when he was in Dokken.
underrated as fuck
Always an original. ✌🏻
Reb is actually his full name shortened.
I believe it's Richard Earl Beach.
might have an e at the end of Earl.
I don't see him doing much alternate picking when he takes a solo. It's usually a lot of legato tapping runs and whammy bar stuff.
yes!! f*ckin yes!! yes!!
Beach is the man
Damnnnn...that toneeeeee.......uuuuulalalala
Does that riff at the end have tabs or is that a song at all or was that just the most simple badass riff with no name ever 😂
He probably knows he didn't invent it; he did popularize it though.
Reb is one bad ass player!
sliding the right hand over the g string while the left makes hammer on and pull offs!
its killer on the ears with emgs!
Minuto 2:35.... Lo mejor de lo mejor.
Exactly, there is something magic in those licks
Hai ragione. Incredibile.
What a Fu...... BEAST! DAMN!
I would like to put emg in my next guitar!
I´m using Dimarzio´s right now on my Ibanez rg350dx!
I need to replace the floyd rose though!
reb "beast"!!!!!!
I wonder how he’s getting all of those harmonics
WOW
I know when he swiches strings, he will pluck the next string with his ring finger - I think a lot of guys just hammer on with their left hand.
I'm not big on Fancy Shred licks - but this doesn't even sound like a guitar!
The band name was there bcuz Kip Winger is the frontman and singer, hence "Winger"!
i love that RBM
He used to use Marshalls, then he used Custom Audio Electronics stuff by Bob Bradshaw, and last year he was at NAMM using Suhr amps, he plays John Suhr guitars too. Hope that helps?, Matt .
Superb...........
100 percent agree.
saw him with whitesnake last year. FUKING UNBELIEVABLE. Def leopard, journey and tesla were also there.
BLOODY FANTASTIC!!! reminds me of an advanced EVH
reb beach, yngwie malmsteen, EVH, Steve vai, nuno bettencourt and tom morello should get together and make an album. It would be freaking epic.
Drums- the drummer from DMB
Bass-Pat Badger
Vocals-Gary Cherone
it would be the album of the year
WOW
Tell me Eddie wasn't a big influence in his style
LUKESTFD I agree great mixo whammy!
@VanfHimself Thanks for replying.
THIS DUDE IS THE GATES
Wow
my fingers would get so damn tired doing that shit, hes so good
well done, you've just proved you have no idea what sarcasm is
Yeah! Okay! But can he play The Eruption by Van Halen?
Eruption it's so freaking easy
Yeah..........
this comment took several minutes to make bcuz i was just scrambling to find "words" that fit his ferocity
WHERE IS Reb Beach anyway .... (seriously, i type ''reb beach'' into my mo-peds's GPS ... and it keeps sending me to the old ''Son of the Beach'' lots where it got fimed WAY back in the Howerd Stern days) uuuuuhhhhh

OH..........Good ..........
Did anyone else see Van Halen back there in the dust?
whats the thing called between 1:36 and 1:40?
Paul Gilbert owns him lol
First two minutes of tapping and harmonics and whammy was great but after that it's like enough already! Strum some actual notes!
Hahahahahaha Gerben - its a solo - the strumming is for the songs
epic guitar face
I do wonder how much music is in his head. I know he can play the shit out of the instrument and make sounds nobody else can make, but can he put a couple phrases together and make a melodic line. How good attention............
@Lookin2Cool Classic rock? Ohh you meant HAIR METAL, ookay I see... -.-
makes a nice change, doesn't it? :)
@pornograwesome I don't know if its called anything but all hes doing is shredding with his left hand and scraping his pick and his right hand against the strings.
Anyone got the tabs for this?? lol...
strum?
Is Reb beach better than Vai?
Vai Has more to Show. Vai can do all the arpeggio and extremly fast picking runs. Reb Beach is an amazing tapper but i wouldnt call him better
Ryan Johnson short answer N O
Vai тщ, becouse Vai have very very clean sound ad high speed
@pornograwesome It would sound like YJM Shredding the whole while. with Reb trying to keep up (Via tap) of which would kill Evh (tap for tap) Vai And Morello trying to see who is more diffrent. and Nuno Keping rythm with some funky riffs (i know that a jam isn a competition but thats how it would sound)....
who the hell hasn't...
Reb Reb ... or anyone .... hey that phenomanol-ness of a guitar sound being generated by ''open-tuning''? (if it is ... then look out .. cuz now everyone will want tTHAT sound within 5 - 7 mins of of plugging in! >> WHY ? .... lol ... what ARE you, deaf?
@wxprn06 paul gilbert has skill but im deff not a fan of his music and his tone. I like van halen, dimebag darrell,MAB,reb beach and george lynch.
But can he play nirvana?
both eyes close.
🤣
ya im gay too
11 dislikes of Metallica fanboys
*sigh* its a figure of speech
5 people listen to 50 cent.
Pick/play/strum/whatever.
I can tell hes very talented but being honest im not relle into this style. i much prefer the styles of syu and hide
As much as i respect reb for his skill, he still boils down to an 80s glam rocker who taps, shreds pentatonics and performs predictable wammy-bar tricks
