    Guys thanks for this very information class on electrical troubleshooting on automotive systems......yes cars are being are being built with more and more electronics so us techs have to sharpen our electrical troubleshooting skills....by the way I do work in the military aviation field as a civilian contractor and we have lots of electronic devices on the board so we must use schematics when we track down component that is not working to repair.....specially from anolog to digital powered components.....again thanks for your classes!

    Relays have two sides. One is the "switch" side and one is the "solenoid" side. The solenoid side turns on the switch side. Sounds like you've bypassed the solenoid side.
    You didn't include your vehicle info so I can't be specific on how you should test the solenoid circuit.

    Is it usual for a alternator to have two plugs on it but we just one wire going to it the hot wire to the battery then one plug and one wire on a 96 1500

    i had an intermittent wiper motor in the shop. I looked at the wiring diagram and it showed the relay to be in the box. This is a 2007 Chevy Impala 3.9. The diagram showed two main feeds to the motor (low and high). How can I test the relay when its made into the fuseblock, underhood.

    Hi..., my car starts properly. But when I turn on my headlights switch only after starting. My cars then shots down completely. I don't get any power for about a minute. My other switches for accessories work fine. Now my second problem is my headlights don't show any lighting. But do pop up. when I turn them without starting the car. I have had my starter, alternator, battery checked and are fine. I just replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter and fuel pump and are new. I have an 88 Mitsubishi Starion with 1.6 liter turbo with manual trans. Can you help...thxs

      +Mrinfoone If the car is shutting down when you turn the headlights on but will restart all by itself after a minute or so, I'd check all the vehicle grounds first.

    I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma.The check engine light came on and I don't see anything wrong with the engine.

    • @MotorAgeMagazine
      @MotorAgeMagazine  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Timothy, the Check Engine light is a warning light activated by the Engine Control Module when a fault impacting vehicle emissions is detected. That can be anything from an engine problem to a loose gas cap. First step is to connect a code reader and see what trouble code is stored.
