You can also low profile her moves. I recommend experimenting more with jump attacks and greatsword as running r1 will give you low profile and often enough time for charged heavy. They really did put lore accurate pontiff into dlc
this is a boss i will love to come back to with a weaker build. i beat her with the reverse grip swords which, while super fun and still challenging, is much easier
Absolutely epic boss, took me a solid 2-3 hours to defeat. Also the triple moon shockwave is dodgable by jump, actually found that easier to time than dodging it
Excellent vid. Rellana, was a very cool fight, definitely the highlight of the DLC for me so far. Hope to see an eventual Realm of Shadow deep dive, because the vids on Limgrave, Liurnia, and Caelid/Mohgwyn are some of my favorite Souls content on YT.
This boss has been kicking my neck for quite a while, but it is astonishing how everything flows together especially when you have the Backhand swords, it’s perfect!
She is the first boss that I have slayed without using any summons, and boy that was really difficult, I completed entire ER with using summons but in DLC I didn't used in summons after her, She teach me alot of things Rellana is very great teacher and now I am very confident on my skills that I can solo any bosses. Thank you Rellana... Now I am on my way to solo radahn.
This is one of 2 bosses I have left to no hit and for me it's an easy boss to beat but a hard boss to master there's always some little swing that gets me, consort radahn for me was easier to no hit than her, and fantastic boss for sure though
I think it took me like 2.5 hours or so to kill her and I felt sooooo rewarded after doing so. Also, I did a reespec (or however you type this) for her double light greatsword and it's the most fun weapon I've ever used in this game and the damage in bananas Edit: you can dodge the double moon move with only jumps and have enough time to jump her coming towards the ground
Really good boss, although some of the hits in her combos might have a little bit too much tracking, that is my only little criticism about her, but overall, it’s almost a perfect fight, requires lots of attempts & has a steep learning curve which is what I love most about Elden Ring bosses. Great tutorial video.
Ok please tell me how the hell to avoid her when she has glintblades on and at the same times dashes with those 2 attacks with 2 wepons? I dodge first, glintblades hit me and stop me from dodgin second ALWAYS!
Seems like skipping phase two is gonna be important for consistent no hit unless you parry. Sometimes she does he phalanx right before twin moon or carian sovereignty and it ends up frame trapping you
Thank you for confirming what i already knew besides that phase transition magic projectile attack. shes pretty garbage and was not balanced for all the stuff in game. also you can triple jump the moons but rolling is better since it gets you close.
i recognized malenia's sideway dodge immediately, i'm pretty sure they reused it; she feels tighter than malenia though. edit: and gg, that was beautiful. she also kicked my ass hard but it was well worth it.
I disagree with stament that you cant dodge all of her attacks close range. I just beat the twin moon knight 11/13 heals still left level 125 (pvp meta) only 2 handed greatsword no status effects no summons. you need good positioning/movement (for example her powerstance greatsword 2 piece attack can be strafed left on the first swing and right on the secound one for charged heavy punish) or very precise directions on your roll but its very much doable you dont have to fight from mid/ long range
you can indeed roll all of her attacks, but its a lot better to keep distance with her so you dont waste stamina. you can even attack 3 times at the end of the moveset that end with a "z"
@@blastersekla I can imagine that stamina can become an issue on this fight, but I have 44 endurance (for heavy armor) and always had just enough. "a lot better to keep distance with her" I dont know wouldnt you miss out on strafing openings? also in 2nd phase if you get her to do multiple moonveil slashes they are actually harmless when ur in her face so I feel like risk of fighting upclose is worth it
You can also low profile her moves. I recommend experimenting more with jump attacks and greatsword as running r1 will give you low profile and often enough time for charged heavy.

The divine lion in ice and lightning form took me the same time too😅That boss is so hard to no damage with a melee only build.
Most of her moveset can be parried, surprisingly. Most weapons can usually get at least one good in on the parries where her posture doesn't break.

Fuck this boss. I’ve been trying for 5 hours
I feel your pain
My FPS fucked me up dring this boss really hard, harder then the other boss fights in the DLC, it went down to 30-13 FPS.

What an awesome boss. So fun to learn. Shame I have to play on low graphics ;-;
Looking back at the base game after the DLC I still don't understand how people think Malenia is still a hard boss
If this is the second boss....what is the last one...we are fucked.
You will be fighting camera most of the time
Ok please tell me how the hell to avoid her when she has glintblades on and at the same times dashes with those 2 attacks with 2 wepons? I dodge first, glintblades hit me and stop me from dodgin second ALWAYS!
oh you have increased dodge distance.
3:46 are you light rolling? You seem to be light rolling out of range of the second hit, instead of rolling through it with your second roll.
Seems like skipping phase two is gonna be important for consistent no hit unless you parry. Sometimes she does he phalanx right before twin moon or carian sovereignty and it ends up frame trapping you
Well, regarding the last part... 99% of us "suck" then, so "suck" it too, thanks :)

This boss has been giving me a headache and to think that I fought her for hours now after work which is also another headache. Oh boy..

What does end with z mean?
