It makes no sense to me that Regiments with rich history and tradition can be disbanded and thrown under the bus with their achievements given to a new Regiment which ends up becoming a merge of a merge, becoming barely recognizable when looking back at the old Regiment that it replaced. So many legendary units of brave men disbanded under the name of "Budget cuts", yet some of these Regiments were formed long before we had nearly as much money as we do now, so what's the deal? I wouldn't be surprised if, in 10 years, the Army is reduced to 1 Guards Regiment, 1 Cavalry Regiment, and the Rifles Regiment becoming a 12 Battalion super Regiment, having eaten up the rest of the Line Infantry.
@Oliver O'Donovan I want to see our Army at a stable level with an average of 100,000 Active Personnel, we need to be able to stand out and hold our ground unlike the rest of Europe. This way we don't need to have America carry us on their back if something happens.
@Oliver O'Donovan Reserves are meant for emergencies, they're not as well trained as Active personnel. Remember that we used to have two Battalions for every Guards Regiment, now we have one and a standalone Company. Less than 200 years ago we had nearly 100 Active Regiments each with two Battalions, one ready to see action as soon as required, another held in reserve in Britain ready to swap out with the other Battalion when they needed to rotate back home. I'm not saying we need 100 Regiments, that's overkill, especially for peacetime.
Wth?! The Republic of Ireland has been independent since 1921.....100 years.....after over 800 years of British rule...... Northern Ireland is another matter altogether......
Proud to have been on parade that day, very emotional.
Faugh au Ballagh
Bless you my man.
All hero's!
Marched many a time in Victoria Barracks, Sunday parade as a 6 year old Dad was a true hero as all the Royal Ulster Rifle are ,Joe Curran.CSM
Brave men and women whose sacrifices we must never forget.
Thank you for your service and dedication.
A great bunch of lads and lassies. Courageous to the end and more.

You lost; the ‘RA are a spent force of thieves, drug dealers and paedophiles. You just watched a video of a real victorious army.
