    Love this! I learned Power BI by watching all of your videos for a full year--and now I am going to do the same thing with your Fabric videos. Keep being awesome!

    I'm afraid to talk to my administrator. I'll just suffer in silence. Maybe I can get Adam to ask him to turn it on.

      Oh no! I wish I could do that for everyone 😕 if you wanted to play with the features you could spin up an M365 dev tenant and then take advantage of the fabric trial. Doesn’t help in the long term but at least you could explore and learn it.

    • @sousamultisys
      @sousamultisys ปีที่แล้ว

      As suggested, just build up your Dev tenant to learn it, then you will have your own data to show and request the new features. If you show confidence your admin will have it approved and set for you

    I had tried going through the whole process of setting up a trial account, but then it seemed like it automatically assigned me to US Central for my tenant region and I wasn't able to actually test out any of the new features. Really wish they made it a bit easier for individuals to test this out rather than needing to rely on our company to enable it. Support has also been nonexistent from what I can tell.

    The thing is The Fabric icon is there but I have only two options PowerBI and Data Science. Nothing else. All is enabled in tenant settings. Trial is active (shows 59 days) and I do can create Trial fabric workspace. That's all...

    so do I need a premium license to try it? Otherwise, I don't have Fabric capacity settings. It offers some for purchase but otherwise I cannot go to "delegated tenant settings"

    Hey Adam - FYI. On Premium Capacity, I have both "Users can create Fabric items" enabled at both the tenant and capacity levels. Turned these settings on the day of release and the Fabric items were viewable (bottom left icon, etc.). However, something switched off, and even though both of those settings are still enabled, the Fabric items are no longer viewable (no bottom left icon, etc.). Chalked it up to a new release bug, but wondering if you had any insights. Thanks!

    Hi Adam, 1 QQ what is the use of the disabled checkbox in Tenant setting "Capacity admins can enable/disable". It seems that that Tenant Level control is no more with Tenant Admin with this.

    As a Pro licence organisation, I assume most of the Fabric stuff will be out of our reach without spending on the new licence SKUs. What I am confused about is the new file type. Will this replace the pbix or will it run along side and only be available for those with Fabric capacity? Thanks

    I’ll just wait till July 1st- our admins don’t seem to understand any of this stuff, if I asked them to switch it on I’d run the risk of losing access to what I already have.

  •  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It doesn't work. I can start the trial. I get the diamond on the workspace, but I don't get the switch icon. But the count down is Goin on.
    For testing I used a private Microsoft account. No issues there it works fine. But it doesn't work on the required company account and I have no idea where to ask for support.
    BTW, as a developer I have my code under source control. This works fine in a "normal" Lakehouse. But how to put fabric content under source control? It works only for Power BI reports.

    Is there any information on when Fabric will be available to GCC users? This usually isn't known and the general answer is once it leaves "Preview" but I was just looking to see if there was any official details.

      One of my team members asked during a round table at Build and they said it would be a matter if days to a couple weeks and not the usual months it takes for us to get new features. Hopefully this will be the case.

    • @GuyInACube
      @GuyInACube  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was told it would be sometime after general availability. Typically preview items aren’t released in GCC.

      You have to create them within Azure AD or the M365 admin portal. You need admin rights to do that as well.

    Why no one talks about Fabric price? Will only be available by paying the extremely costly Power BI Premium license? Or just with my Power BI Pro license I would be able to use Fabric (for example create a lakehouse and connect to it)?
    Please MS don’t forget about small companies as you did with Power BI Premium Capacity 🙏🏼🙏🏼

      We started off very small w/ 10 Pro licenses at first, growing to ~100, then ~300, then moved to Premium Capacity. Obviously, some features were not available (like ML) until Premium was subscribed too, but it scaled with us very well.

    Microsoft User Experience is getting as bad as it can get. Coming from AWS just to get an understanding of fabric I need to have a custom domain/ set up global admin permissions then this . I guess I should stick to AWS

  • @DanielWillen
    @DanielWillen ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason you can't use Microsoft Fabric is because of Microsoft. They only pretend they do, so when they launch something in "GA" it's typically an alpha test at best which doesn't do the bare minimum. It's like the devs don't even test their own stuff before releasing it , it's really bad.

    TBH if someone had claimed a few months ago that whole Synapse ecosystem management would shift from Synapse Studio (remember the claims Swiss knife animated gif) to land at the very bottom left of Power BI Online service - hidden right under a small Power BI icon, I would have probably reacted giggling ... yeah sure...
    Microsoft Fabric is still in Preview. Transition started smoothly so far and I'm fully aware its impossible to swallow everything in 1st week. One question (or potential issue) prevails however who will be given admins control?. The main reason is I had to deal with Off8ce365 administrators who inherited Power BI Tenants Admins roles & privileges "per interim" having no more background formation than a Power In a Day session. As a result instead of requesting true expertise assistance, they took the easy shortcut pulling the main switch to OFF literally blocking to whole Data Analytics teams who needed access to those. Time wasted sending series of redundant rejected and ignored requests is not an option in our favour. Now imagine if those same Office365 admins people inherit full Microsoft Fabric access monopoly. What can we do?
