After you've poured the molten metal into the mold, don't put it in water. That makes it more brittle, easy to break, and corrodes easier, and doesn't last as long. Let it cool down very very slowly. The slower it cools the better the metal will be when it finally sets and is totally cools. The molecules set much better, and much stronger, when its the slowest possible time to cool.

@@ifyouseekay594 yes. You quench steel in between heating and shaping. But that’s the point. With steel, you are intentionally trying to harden it, which does make it more brittle. But once you have it shaped, you put it in the oven or anneal it in order to cool it down slower. It’s a balance of hardness and softness with steel, because it’s a tool. With decorative metals, slower is better.

There are people on Etsy who will do this and they’re very good too. Some already do Chronicles of Narnia now without having to ask for it custom made. I think the custom book rebinding people must have gotten requests like this several times because originally when my parents requested it there weren’t any. But now I’ve seen several sellers who feature a book in their shop for Narnia series. I think the design my dad custom requested is one of them they sell in one of the stores now. 😆 But yeah, I’m a big fan of Narnia.

What a way to celebrate 1Mil subscribers, with a tribute to the grandaddy of modern fantasy. Absolutely gorgeous tribute to The Lord of the Rings. You two are the coolest.

You've inspired me to made my own sketchbook from scratch. I've spent several weeks gathering all the supplies. Can't wait to get started! OK, now I must have a smelter.

That's one hell of a project! The integration of light in the book is genius (maybe you two will find some even techier things to do with books). And the metal casting came out of nowhere! I'm really looking forward to more metal casting projects!
Btw congrats on the 1 million subs count. I remember as if it was yesterday you two were under 20k. Keep on making!

Sauron convinced the elves to create the rings of power and you've convinced your patreon supporters to provide you with a forge...I'm not sure I like where this is going.
