  • 11 months at Cerro Gordo! How crazy is that? This month had a lot of building restoration, some side trips to Darwin and Panamint Springs to source equipment, knowledge, and supplies, and much more!
I really appreciate the support for the town and the channel! If you haven't already, I hope you'll subscribe to see more as I try to bring this abandoned 'ghost town' back to life.
You can see more photos from around town on my Instagram: / brentwunderwood
Cerro Gordo T-Shirts and more: store.cerrogor...
Mailing address: PO Box 490, Lone Pine, CA 93545
    THANK YOU!

My Grandfather was an Italian immigrant that brought boatloads of settlers from Italy to the Brier Hill area of Youngstown during the turn of the century. The Immigrants got jobs at the steel mill and my Grandma taught them English and taught them what they needed to know to obtain their citizenship. There is a Facebook group for the community....still lots of Italians there and they have a pizza fest every year. That was very cool to see that!

Bravo Brent . I'm 78 years old and have torn a muscle in my right arm. My doctor said why do I do some of the things I do. Woodworking,. Weed pulling, etc. He said get somebody else to o do it. I said why. That would be no fun. It's fun to take a scrap piece of wood and make something beautiful out of it. I love the desert. When we would go out my husband would say how do you find these places. We would go and not see anybody for 2 or three days. One time we stayed near Baker Ca. In the morning my daughter's and I rebuilt up the fire pit and put a sheet metal that had been shot full of holes across the top and used it to cook bacon and eggs for breakfast. After I got out a watering can and we used it to take a shower. I've had people ask me what do you see about the desert there's nothing there. The desert gives you a sense of peace you can't find anywhere else. That old wood is a gem don't let it go to waste.

To lift ones head after walking for mikes in circles searching the ground for Indian artifacts in stone, andvthe you see what was always befor you but this time it’s awe. Sage brush flush with spring growth as far as the eye can see with no trees, posts or roads just sage covered mountains and a valley a carpet of sage brush. It was the most beautiful and awe inspiring moment I’ve had in 11 years. You see, I grew up in all that and took it for granted. Then you moved to a California city and began my adult life among the hustle and traffic. I’d forgotten wide open spaces and being but a spec on the landscape. It was an amazing feeling.

We were wonder who was going to buy it. We both expressed concern that it would be turned into a Corporate Disney Tourist nightmare. I can safely say that I am tremendously relieved that you are preserving such a unique and beautiful place. I love your passion for the place.

Love the name of darwin's saloon. "Black metal saloon" must have been a lot of norwegian settelers there, and a lack of churches..

Be careful young man. Mines are extremely dangerous. You should always have someone with you when you go.

As Brent always states, you must make sure you’re careful first, you ask and go with an adult if you ever want to do it cause the buddy system and ample research. People only go in after years of training on the outside first...remember that and be smart

    • @GhostTownLiving
      @GhostTownLiving  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Amazing! That is great to hear. Hope you get out there and adventure. Be very careful with the mines however. There is a lot of prep not show in the videos that is done before hand.

Name the three miners’ cabins after the three mining towns and use material and artifacts to finish each cabin (ex. Darwin cabin).

Or at least it should be. Thank you for inviting the whole world to a place of solitude and isolation, using a medium that keeps the precious peace in tact.
As the world discovers you, may you discover the world.
    Stay safe, Brent.

I used to drive from Phoenix to San Diego every 2 weeks. The desert would just take you in. I'd have the windows down, music up and it was therapeutic.
I also had to laugh the the drone attacked the truck lol

This is some of the best content I've seen on YT, hands down. The editing is great, the photography is amazing, and Brent is nuts, but I admire him and his massive balls XD I mean, courage. I think it takes so much of oneself to sever all of the day-to-day urban life and settle on that remote location, learning to do so much stuff and exploring those mines like you do. I really enjoy it. Greetings from Argentina.

I would highly suggest always wearing a helmet when on your bike. Weird things can happen alone in the middle of nowhere.
