What about Trevor Bauer, he seems to put a lot of effort into researching pitching mechanics yet he still long tosses

In order to throw farther you need efficient mechanics...
The farther you go out your gonna need more velocity behind it and how do you increase velocity? With efficient mechanics.
Are you supposed to throw through the pain in long toss? NO
The farther you throw the harder you throw. No shit stride length is gonna change you have to angle your self up. But what doesn’t change? The need to be able to sequence on time. Also teaches athleticism like a pull down where you learn to actually use momentum. It’s a tool

I’ve been to multiple mlb games and have noticed that most pitchers will warm up with the long toss. Long toss will loosen up your arm and maybe help a little with throwing faster.

Junior and yet we still see pitchers getting injured left and right. Big league pitchers don’t always know everything. Science and biomechanics is the best way to learn about injury, not looking on the field.

@@legendary350z7 why does my arm feel better when I long toss then? and when I don't I feel out of sync and use too much arm

Law of simplicity. If you want to pitch better, then pitch. If you want to become a better long tosser then long toss. There’s no reason to over complicate the game of baseball with severe long toss and running weighted ball throws. Develop muscle, strength, and power. Develop a PROPER throwing delivery with the athleticism you’ve already developed. And pitch, pitch, and pitch. We’re humans, we adapt, so just do it.

Just for better understanding when long tossing do not throw the ball in the air keep in on a line out and in?

Can you still do weighted ball training without throwing for awhile?

Throwing a baseball 132 feet in 1 second equals 90 mph throw supposably without wind. At release though so you have to be standing about 138 feet and releasing at 132 feet. So I would focus a little on accomplishing this.

I agree to disagree. Every pitcher is different. Example... I had a guy pitching 80 mph and his arm path was way over the top. So I had him walk it out to 300 feet and he couldn’t do it. I said just let your arm drop down and fall into a natural arm path. Boom 320-330’ later that week on the mound 90-92mph... so throwing longer & harder made his arm fAll into a natural arm path

daddy0575 I will have to agree to disagree because there are tons of people who can throw 320-330+ feet who can’t throw 90 on the mound. Your example is something that may happen once every 1000 cases mainly because it is a player who already had the ability and it sparked a change but I would bet this is a rarity.

@@brentpourciau tons of kids that can throw 320+ and not throw 90?? Yea ok. Your example is something that may happen once every thousand cases. You literally have to throw about low to mid 90s to even throw that far.

That distance to mph is literally perfect on long toss to pitching translations. I agree trying to throw farther forces the body to try to create efficient movement patterns
