Like the 50's look. And the best part is no tubes. I bought a 50's radio that size about a year ago at a yard sale and when I plugged it in it worked for about 15 seconds and started smoking. Transformer or tube. Solar activity or not the overcomer is always on the shortwave. Like that new radio, Thanks !
Good vid. The Choyong R1 is a nice looking radio and it sounds good. I feel the price tag to get it to Canada is a little steep. Slightly under $300 CAD. A great review though.
Professor CB, I just picked up an old General Electric radio with 7 bands: AM, FM, TV (upper UHF and lower VHF}, PS\AIR (not sure if that's police) weather and CB. Pretty much a scanner. I get signals on everything I've tried so far, but the TV UHF. I haven't messed with the PS\AIR yet. Payed $5 in antique shop in Wilksboro. I really like this radio you are showcasing, but AM is vital for me.
Looks great! Too bad it's not made here in the U.S. which would be a reason for me not to purchase it. I already have a vintage shortwave, so I have no need anyway. Thanks for the video Erik.

I call that magic smoke- Never a good sign when it happens.
That radio would look great anywhere in the house.. classic styling!
I agree, it has a nice classic style to it
No AM. You almost had me.
Sorry- I did not make it
Does have that 1930's look ...nice
The look is fantastic
Nice radio radio love it
Thanks
That is indeed a thing of beauty. Why midwave won't work but shortwave will, I don't get.
I guess it depends on the areas they are selling to- Not all countries use the same things would be my best guess
That would look nice on my fireplace.
It is a beautiful radio

The exchange rate to Canada can be steep.
40’s music is the best!
I am an old soul, I love 40's music

Sounds like a cool setup! I remember those radios as well. Radio shack sold them as the "Patrolman" series. Good stuff!
Awesome radio. Sad that there us no AM. But still a beautiful radio.
True
When you click the amazon link it saids AM FM Shortwave obviously that is a mistake being FM and shortwave only, Thank for the review Eric
I am sure you are right on the type o, thanks
No AM ?
No deal
Can't please they all

You're welcome, it is hard to find things still made in the USA.
Great video! Out of all the radios you have reviewed if you had to purchase and have just one which would it be? ( reception and feature wise)
Thanks
There is not one that has it all, they get close, but seem to be missing just one thing. There are many that are great, but maybe not 100% perfect.
It would be better with AM, still a great radio
I agree
No AM? Most conservative talk shows are on AM…I’ll leave it as that 🤨
AM would be a good one with this.
You said 5th channel, but I only see three (including this one) connected to this one? Have you set up the "Channels" tab here on TH-cam?
The other 2 are on another account and are older channels from the start of TH-cam.
I hear Brother Stair.
Yup!
needs a usb stick port
It would be nice for sure.
No AM is a deal breaker. Major bummer. Nice try Choyong. Beautiful radio though.
AM is a big deal for many, I still do love the look of it
@@FarpointFarms Yes, absolutely! They are definitely spot on in the styling dept.
Junk. Sounds like a 1920’s radio.
I was going to. buy one but your well reasoned and articulate review changed my mind.
It sounds like whatever you're using to watch and listen to this video with. You understand that...right?
Now be nice you two..... If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all
I like it 👍
@@FarpointFarms if you point out what I said that wasn’t nice, I’ll delete it.
