Something to note…The Keller Magnum shell is a softer maple. I remember having a snare built out the magnum series and I was so let down. Lol It was a 7 ply magnum shell and it was so soft feeling. Later on I had a Keller vss 6 ply built and the density/feel was night and day. The sound was also very different as you might imagine. I
Very fun video! I took today off from work, so I’m not driving and trying to watch and listen. I was able to pay close attention. The guessing, the chat and the reveal, hopefully y’all do more similar videos. I have 17 snare drums (none with re-rings, 6 lug or wood hoops), now they’re on the list!! While watching I just ordered a Nordic maple 14 ply! Mike, do you still work at DFD? I’ve ordered lots from DFD! I’ll be ordering the hardware for the Nordic. I started playing on my dads kits, and I still have my first kit which is a Stainless Steel Ludwig w/ 26” bass drums! 12, 13, 14, (16 concert) & 18” floor. It came with a 8X14”, 12 lug Coliseum!! Cheers!!!
Already liked and just started listening. Two other snare drums with "sound design only" re-rings everyone should check out are the original Mapex Russ Miller designed Versatus snare (not the newer one... the first iteration) and the newest Tama Peter Erskine Jazz snare drum. Both drums just... well listen to the videos here on YT. Thank you for the Kenny W. tip and the drum head tips. Had no idea what drum was what throughout, but damn they sounded great. P.S. My comments about the two drums above are no reflection on Bucks County snare drums. My next snare is going to be one of BC's snares... just trying to decide between the wood species.
Love the one with wood hoops

This is a long one...I'll have to grab some snacks and come back 😂👍🍌🍉🍇

14:20. You're welcome.
Carter is so right about keeping your first kit. I regret selling mine even if it was cheap from Taiwan.
Totally agree!
Yeah, I would love to hear about the Lion King long gig psychology.

I have all my snare drums for every kit I’ve owned. I had to go back and buy my first one by buying them a brand new Supraphonic.
Good choice!
HA I literally just followed this guy on instagram. Small world.
No.5💥
I prefer maple drums over all others! Second is mahogany. I can,t live with birch and exotics is a waste of money.
One and two I didn,t like at all. Overtones were distracting. Three is better.
