    I wanted to leave a pinned comment to make a few things clear. First off my intention is to not bash this product because it is not a bad product. My intention is to showcase my experience with the product. I I appreciate cerakote for sending this out to me and letting me try it out. I find it to be a good first version of their coating and I know they will take any feedback to improve it.
    My testing did have me think that maybe the coating did not get the proper cure time as it was applied outside in mid 60 degree weather with no morning dew. But at the same time I don't believe this to be the case as it was applied to the glass the paint and it is performing beautifully on the glass. So for me this does not seem like a variable to consider. I will be applying it to another panel and letting it cure indoors and report any findings if the performance is different.
    Things I did like about the coating is the ease of application and the slickness. The slickness of any coating will not last forever as it is an attribute that will fade away rather quickly just like Gyeon Mohs Evo or Cquartz SiC. I can still feel it under the mitt to a degree but bare handed it is not as noticeable. When it comes to gloss well that is subjective as a majority of the gloss comes from polishing and with the paint being silver it is hard to gauge that.
    I have made it clear on many occasions that I prefer a hydrophobic coating with tight water beading rather than sheeting. Sheeting is not for me based on my experience. Like beading, sheeting has pros and cons that I will not get into at the moment. Cerakote gives me Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light vibes where it is not the most hydrophobic coating and tends to sheet more than bead. I would like to see Cerakote improve the water beading aspect if they are claiming this to be a beading type coating.
    Overall I think it is a good first start to a coating but with a few tweaks it can be better in my experience using it. At the moment this is not the first coating I would reach for. But I would not discourage anyone from trying it as maybe someone likes this type of coating.
    If you made it to the end of this comment. Thank you and I appreciate all of you. Take care and happy hlidays.

    If they got 500 washes and still beading , then there must have been an error in their formulation when they mass produced all the kits they sent out. There's no way they would have gone to all this trouble of marketing this as a pro coating without thorough testing. I can get getter durability out of TW Ice Seal n Shine.

    This is so disappointing…ordered mine a couple months back and haven’t installed it yet. Now I don’t even want to. A $10 bottle of Seal and Shine has 100 times more durability than this garbage.
    If you apply CQuartz you can drive through the car wash every day and you wouldn’t lose your beading. This stuff sucks! They knew it sucked and that’s why they’re giving it away! They are probably going to release a product next year that’s going to be what we really want but they had to get rid of this crap first. It’s like they say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

    We applied 1 coat to a Honda HRV 3 weeks ago that sits outside 24/7 driven, on a 1/2 mile long gravel road multiple times a day. I just checked today with a quick hose down with water only and surprisingly it is holding up well with tight beading, no sheeting in any areas yet and no dead spots at all. This car probably only gets abused and washed only about 6 times a year.. We used 3D One with a Urofiber pad and CarPro Eraser. Located in NorCal. I'm invested in seeing how far this will stretch out as well due to all the videos on it.

      This is the perfect abusive use case. I might suggest using a shampoo for ceramic coated paint. Everything I’ve read is these special shampoos “unclog” the ceramic coating. Not that a PH Neutral shampoo is bad, Mr. Pink is my go to, but now using Griot’s ceramic coating shampoo as suggested. Who knows. Like to hear how your HRV is holding up after a year. So car Cerakote has been good for me too, only been a month and only washed the car once.

    • @MikeGDetailing
      @MikeGDetailing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I saw that video. The gloss is not going anywhere as the coating has not failed. The initial slickness is nice but it not as prevalent after the first contact with soap.
      Again I am not saying it is a bad coating. Just don't expect it to be super hydrophobic and bead just as the Cerakote CEO stated in imhoshv's video that this is a beading coating. Even the beading on the hood took a hit from Pan's video.

    If you’re getting two different behaviors wouldn’t it be the application or surface? The only consistent is the product.

    • @MikeGDetailing
      @MikeGDetailing  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The application is part of the video. It was left to sit for 5 minutes per the directions. Im not the only to have a similar experience. Pan also has a similar experience on his 1 month update video.
      As stated in the video and in the pinned comment I’m not saying it’s a bad product. But if the CEO is saying it is designed to be a beader and all of the sudden after one wash it becomes a sheeter then the definition of beading is different from the manufacturer. I suspect they will reformulate fast and fix it.
      Cerakote is giving me GTechniq CSL vibes with its hydrophobic behavior.
      Again not a bad product and I’m not discouraging people from buying it. I’m leaving it up to each person to make that decision on their own. I’m not done testing just yet.

    Wow a clear coat failure after 6 years of painting...I think you are based in California? Is this because of the strong UV sun? I was on holiday in Fuerteventura the other week, and the cars there were destroyed by the sunshine. Lacquer peeling off on a large number of cars based out there. I'm sure your dads car has had lots of coatings applied with UV protection?
    Also I thinking about NSP 45 to prime DQ Go. I think you mentioned before that it should be ok. Is this a good idea for Go and all other coatings in your opinion. I've not really had anything to do with cericoat. It's either hit or miss by the sounds of it. I think once you've spent hours of decontamination and prep for a coating, you just want something reliable, so for me, I tend to stick with the tried and tested market leaders.
    I'm very much like you, Mike. Beading is something I would choose over sheeting. I look for maximum protection for the longest time with the biggest beads, and now, pensil hardness that higher as possible on the Mohs scale. I hope this is where the market will move towards. What are your thoughts to?

      UV and water based paint. My dad’s car currently has the professional 5+ year coating form armour detail supply. It’s a great coating as is their 3 year one.
      For the NSP you will be fine. I’ve used many coatings with the NSP’s and have not had any issues with premature failure.
      I will be doing a DQ Go topped with SiC as well on one area of my Camaro. Waiting on my bottle of SiC.

      @MikeGDetailing I've seen a number of your videos using NSP. You've never encountered any issues, so it might be a good idea.
      SIC is very good, it's still beading and protecting one of my cars like day one. I cannot say a bad thing about it, other then the smell and the fact the glass bottle is highly pressurised so be careful when opening 😆.
      With regards to UV, I'm using a Classic Additions Ultimate Outdoor Car Cover. It's thee very best cover you can buy, super soft non scratch microfiber inner layer and a neoprene outer layer. 18 months on through nearly 2 British winters and a very hot intense but brief summer and there's no signs of UV damage or scratches or marring 🙌 highly recommend if you've ran out of garage space. It will definitely protect from the sun and the worst storms

    Good video Mike. I appreciate your straightforward style of just showcasing your specific experiences.
    I'm not a fan of jumping on the bandwagon and knocking products just because a few videos might say they aren't any good. I prefer to only speak to products that I've had specific experience with before making any final judgments or just spreading my opinion around.
    Early adopters to any new product are taking a chance on it, that's just the way it goes. Anything short of long term real world tests in a wide variety of installation and usage environments is not going to reveal all potential pitfalls of a particular coating (or any other protective product) formulation. Scrub tests, wash tests, torture tests etc can only tell you so much. Until it's out there for the long term in a wide variety of conditions, it's kind of a crapshoot.

      You’re exactly right. It’s not bad for their first version. Gives me GTechniq CSL vibes with how it performs.

    U didn’t seem to apply it correctly. Need to follow the directions. Shaking it for less than 30sec, big mistake. Stopping and starting again, not good either.
