This time on Dirtnation we head out to Bald Mountain for the Hardline Heat Tour. Out there we hit a trail called Swamp Lake and Swamp Lake kicked our butts! Plain and Simple

Dustin, for me this was probably my most favorite trail video yet. I've been on runs like that when your wondering "shit, am i going to make it off this trail?' Then its the "Fuck that I'm not sleeping on the trail" attitude that gets you home.
Bro that’s exactly the mentality! Was so damn exhausted by the end but even when things kept breaking I stayed on top of it cuz there’s no way I’m not gonna finish 😂💪🏻

In all my years of offroad and watching offroad videos, I've never seen anyone lose a couple lugs off each wheel? Strange? TG you guys made it! I gotta get out there! At the end of the video , your taco 🌮 took a freaking beating but in typical Toyota Fashion, it still made it! She so deserves Tons!

Wow! Murphy’s Law (what can go wrong, did go wrong) at its fullest with the Dirt Nation Tacoma. I don’t think I ever had 4 issues (as you did, 2 axles, steering, and a dead battery) on a single trip to one vehicle. I’ve had a few breakdowns and on trail repairs. We’ve had a couple of proud moment repairs too! Kudos to all of you people for sticking/banding together and getting the trucks through the tough spots. It was a fun and intertaining video nonetheless. I originally started out watching and thinking about wanting to go and do that trail, but as I saw the trail getting longer, I am not so sure my older body can endure such a beating. The rock gardens towards the back end seemed to make it a long section to go through. Congrats to all of you guys especially the closer to stock trucks that conquered this trail because I’m kind of a kitty when it comes to putting unwanted dents and/or deformation on either one of the 4Runners. Thanks for sharing and continue the fun!

Some say Swamp Lake is also known as the shorter twin of Dusy😬31miles for Dusy, but definitely a mini Rubicon huh 😅 awesome video🤟
Swamp lake is probably one of the hardest trails in California. It's better than the Rubicon and dusy. Thank you for the great video of the trial, most people will never know just how hard it is until you actually try it. I know because I took a stock 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited edition across it and it's never been the same since. Great video guys

Stock 2004 jeep grand Cherokee limited edition wheeling swamp lake jeep trail on TH-cam did it a few years ago. That's one of the baddest trails in California hand's down. That trail is not for the rookies, takes a lot of experience to do. Great video guys, keep up the awesome videos your doing. We were up there the week before the fork fires burned everything down. We're lucky to get out alive, all of us that weekend

I had the same trouble with throttle response when I took my Cherokee through some deep mud. I managed to restart the engine and the problem went away. That's how I learned to keep momentum in the mud, lol.

swamp is no joke! Did it with friends in the early 2000s with our 76 CJ and open diffs and it was a ton of work! Need to get back there soon!

listen u kinda help save my ass last night. took my wife to buttermilk and along the beginning of the decent with the water pipeline I hit something that blew out my steering. with the steering out I recalled watching your video and realized I could possibly make it down along the spine of the mountain. my wife and I were freaking out bc I could barely control the tundra with 35s from falling off the cliff. Toyota says the steering is under a recall warranty. so hopefully I can have it fixed on them!

@@66Duffman I should know, I've had a few, 04 Rubicon, 97 WranglerBluebicon , 2001 Almost Rubicon TJ , 97 Wrangler , 87 YJ , But nothing beat my Rubicon 4.0 , 3" lift and 35s it could drive up walls! But daily driving a Wrangler is a living hell! Especially parking it on the street with the soft top and looking out the window and seeing a crackhead 🤪 sitting on my spare tire and trying to steal my BMX bike! You end up having to leave the hard top on or not going anywhere, honestly my favorite vehicle after owning probably 30-40 vehicles since 1993 my favorite vehicle is my Tacoma S.A.Swap, I just love its all around Awesomeness! Just wish it had the motor from 1 of the 10 5.0 Mustangs, the 4.1 T-case from my Rubicon, that just gave me an idea 💡 😆

The Dusy Ershim is a real gem. Possibly one of the toughest trails in Cali. You guys need to add this to your bucket list. Another one is Barrett lake. Watch Adventure 4WD Crews latest vid on Barrett lake if you hate IFS....Hahaha!!!!
Dusy is definitely on the list! I’ll be bringing one of the crawlers there for sure! No more if this IfS nonsense 😂

lol we do that trail in the snow , it’s not that bad . I’ve yet to taken any damage on that trail . Picking the correct lines is the key and I have All terrain tires .

There’s a difference between denial and understanding your vehicle did good considering it’s a less capable machine think a little before you get all negative 💭👍🏻
@@66Duffman I do give you props for knowing what will break, having the parts and being able to fix it. On a Jeep TJ that's the front U-joint/axle. I carry spares for friends since I run RCV's.
I have a different definition of 'did great' I prefer to go on a trail and not break. Your stories are more interesting than mine because of that. You had an adventure you and your buddies will be talking about for years and it made a better video than my trip would have. 👍

Throw in a Marlin Crawler RCLT kit with the LC200 steering rack and call it a day. Buy once cry once, breaks like that won't be a common occurrence anymore.
I understand the logic but realistically if ima drop 15-20k on anything it’ll be Tons and a cage for my crawler so I can hit the really hard trails 🤌🏻
@@66Duffman Camburg also has their Trail Series long travel which even retains stock coilovers or stock replacements. +2”, fully fabbed arms, add in their fabbed spindles and it’s a tank. I believe it’s around 7k or a bit less out the door for their LT + Spindles, plus they offer the option to add those slapper arm style air bumps. Tons are dope, but I’d get annoyed with losing my speedometer and having a bunch of dashboard Christmas lights constantly on.
The marlin kits are killing racks. So not worth the investment for hard wheeling.

Definitely harder to steer a vehicle with broken power steering than a vehicle not originally equipped with power steering. That must have been super stressful and exhausting!

Glad I didn't go. I would have got some major body damage with the Power Wagon. 37s and White Knuckle Sliders are mandatory for a trail like that.
There’s parts of that trail we didn’t even show that idk if a power wagon would even fit…you spend a good amount of time navigating thru heavy tree coverage 😂
My zr2 was hitting both mirrors on trees at the same time from how narrow some sections were. Definitely not big girl friendly.
There was a group of about 7 or 8 rigs that passed us and one of them was K5 blazer. As we went further and further down the trail, over and over I kept thinking, "how the hell did that K5 fit through here."
The Bronco Sasquatch would absolutely make it through. It's nearly as capable as a Wrangler.
Idk the ground clearance is still shit on them…would be interesting so see them perform here

I agree, should always bring a chainsaw. But that tree, was well over 3 feet in diameter. The log that Dustin was turtled on was one of it's limbs.
