Thanks for the review. Specifications for this deck indicate that it is "App Compatible". What does that mean and what scenarios would I want a Digital receiver to include this feature? I'm putting this deck in a 1997 4 Runner
I have not interacted with any radios in cars without a volume knob, is it common for them to be so slow to adjust the volume with a press and hold on the button?
This Operating System is the same used on the JVC MB950BT... I have a MB590... I was super annoyed by the manual toggling/pressing of the volume touch... Then I figured out that you can touch the screen and swipe in a clockwise motion to increase the volume. Swipe in counter clockwise to decrease the volume. Love my deck now!
@@geyang1979 You can do that with radio stations and even tracks off your phone crazy tho I have Jvc kw-750 and it has more features then this one for sounds iam keeping my 750 now 🤣
And you seriously love this interface and the all interfaces that Sony, Alpine, Kenwood, etc. provides? It looks like a peace of... There are a lot of Android-based devices nowadays, can you tell us why do you prefer these instead of them?
Quality and reliability. The no name "white box" Android radios are total junk. Once configured, I spend 99% of my time in the vehicle with Android Auto running, so I don't care what the base interface looks like.
Honestly if you're just interested in having a radio with apps on it the android radios are great. The issue is if you're interested in having any kind of decent audio setup they are complete junk. Most of them are missing things like time alignment and 5v pre out. Not to mention very bad built in DACs. I have seen a joying unit that has a digital optical audio out which you could hookup to a good quality DSP but those are very rare and don't last that long. It sucks too because I agree with you the interface and the speed on these units are HORRENDOUS for 2024. Unfortunately there's just no incentive for them to do anything better.
My old radio would let me connect wireless through BT so I could play music. But I could turn off BT to my phone calls only. That way my wireless headset could be worn and not auto connect through the radio when I got in my car. Does this stereo have that feature? Sometimes I don't want ppl to hear a call through the radio and just play music
Can you do a front camera install along with the rear when you go to do so if it's different. We can't get the factory front camera to display on my DNX996XR even using the Rr2.
What car is it. Factory cameras typically use a controller and only have one output to the screen. Idata usually allows you to control it from the steering wheel when the camera is engaged.
@FiveStarCarStereoInc 12 Raptor. I was told is in the idata setup. I've been through the setup multiple times and can't find where that's an option. Don't want to splice into the factory plug if I don't have to. Everything is plugged in, so it's not like the plug to the camera isn't connected.
Hey guys I’d like to upgrade my radio in my 2010 Chrysler 300 would the Kenwood Excelon DNX697S be a good choice or is there a larger screen option? Thanks
Is there a reason why in the year of our lord 2024 touchscreen head units [other than Sony] *still* look like they were built by the people that used to make winamp skins and forum signatures? I realise the focus is on the actual audio, but I 100% believe that the UI was made by an audio engineer.

@@chrisviera2660 I have their DMX706s and I love it. Thank you for for answering my question.

Is there a Rough Ryder edition?

Yes it is. At that price no. You could go up to the Sony 8500 floating screen
is it preferable to adjust the radio crossovers, the amps crossovers or both?
I would pick one or the other, your choice
