The second one used to be the worst one, until MiB International came out. Now there's a forgettable MiB movie. This one is still the second best in the franchise, though. Might not have gotten the recognition of the others, but it stands up there with them easily.

I personally love MiB 3 because it provides a really emotional and cathartic closure to J’s story by showing him why K is the way he is-which happens to be part of J’s formation as well.
the thing that always gets me is that IMMEDIATE response by K when he hears little James calling out. Split second reaction of immediately knowing what he was gonna have to do.
Moments like this in movies makes you appreciate the acting, storytelling, director's vision about the film... this was the best Revelation in MIB trilogy..😭
The reason being b/c we had so many years since the first movie to let the attachment we had w/ the characters sink in. In contrast, when Agent J was revealed to be the father of the girl Agent J fell in love w/ in MIB II, it didn't hit as hard since we only knew the girl for like an hour before the revelation.
J never knew the truth about what happened to his dad until going back to the past to which he witnessed unexpectedly before going back to the present.
I was so dead set in not watching this movie because I believed all the critics saying it was terrible. But when I watched it with my husband a few weeks ago I realized how much of an knumbskull I was. Seeing this part made me cry and I didn't catch that it was Jay's dad until I remembered that Jay's last name was Edwards. But then he lost his dad, and he never knew about it because it would be hard for Jay to be the man he became in the first film. I bawled like a baby at this part when I watched it. It even made my husband cry and it's hard to make that man cry at anything.
at 4:45 when K asks the colonel "If you ever want to see more, I know a top secret organization that could use a man like you" and the Colonel said "I wish I could" with a smile, that's when it hits me that he knew he couldn't because he accepted his fate to die when Griffin showed him his future seeing that J is his son and what he does.
@@M0butu no, it's because Griffin literary showed him the future, he saw and knew what would happen to him as well with who is J to him. That line at the end with him "I wish I could" was him admitting he saw his own death. It was later confirmed by Barry Sonnenfeld himself
@@saiostory1090 That is an interesting take on the scene but I don't see why his knowledge of the future couldn't help him avoid his death. I got all teary-eyed watching this the first time. Something like that would alter anybody. Led me to believe that every time K put his feelings into something he had them scarred. Focusing on the job to cope as well as to keep his feelings out of it.
This scene brought all the feels and tears. How he calls James back when he wanders even a 2ft away basically telling the audience that he will always be only a few feet away.
This ending brings me to tears every time it's pretty much brings the whole three movies full circle and knowing that K been watching over Jay his whole life and him picking him wasn't random.
And it also shows that the reason he was blunt throughout the series compared to his youth was the responsibility and guilt of Jay's father's death. This is also a sad tragedy, but K's line "it's been my privilege" at the end of the movie shows that the two main characters were eventually saved, overcame tragedy, and ended with a beautiful ending with a noble spirit for each other.
An unexpected come-full-circle moment that explain why J is so good at what he does, having experience alien since being a child. Also, love how the astronauts chose to turn a blind eye
This really hints to k basically always looking after j right up until him inviting him to MiB even if just for the sake of of j father... best story of all MiB movies
I recall watching this at my GFs place back then, with her father, stepmother and her cousin, the moment he realized he just said "oh no..." before starting to cry... it really hits hard as you dont see it coming...
You know watching Men in black 1-2, K would've fired J at some point, but this scene made so much more sense now as to why K kept J around all this time. Bcus he was about the only thing thats closest to a son that K will ever have. I just really appreciate the heart that K has to take J in as his son that lost his biological father.
The regret in K's eyes when he realized of young J's presence and the kindness shown through them when he was talking to the boy almost made me cry. A small scene that so meaningfully sums up their life-long relationship. Well done ❤
The thing about this movie is that it exactly justifies its existance and adds much needed context for the first film of the series. We always wondered why J got picked to be in the Men in Black. But just had to assume he got noticed for his personality and abilities as an officer.
I don't see why that still wouldn't be the case. J got noticed for his skill and abilities as an agent in the past and when they followed up on him they also noted his current personality and abilities when they picked him.
The saddest part knowing J knew K all along but spared him as a child so he didn't see the alien killed him . 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭Your father is a hero 😭😭😭😭😭😭So sad but encouraging in the best way ever.
I went to watch this movie in the theatre and this scene still makes me emotional knowing the bond Agent K and Agent J has. A fan since the first MiB. It's uncanny how Josh Brolin emulates Tommy Lee Jones's iconic character.

And he wanted me, to stay here, and take care of his *best pal.* ” The way this line is delivered just hits me in my stomach every single time i hear it. The little voice crack K makes on best pal sells it for me.
Now I understand why J became police because K told him that his father was Hero and lead him become MIP. Make sense that K want to J to be his partner immediately and protect him from Zed.
This scene speaks a lot about K's character. Seems very cold and austere, but he has a very warm heart. He's really an excellent example of what tends to happen to a man as they get older, and have to deal with all the disappointment that life can and does bring.
Ain’t even going to lie I cried a little I don’t know if it’s me having my own son that’s made me sensitive to seeing dad son situation like this. Eh, many people, including myself, consider it to be better than the second movie. And it is. The first is still the best, but the third is still pretty good. The second one used to be the worst one, until MiB International came out. Now there's a forgettable MiB movie.
This one is still the second best in the franchise, though. Might not have gotten the recognition of the others, but it stands up there with them easily.
I remember everyone saying this was a pretty good movie. It's my favorite from the MIB franchise.
@@Geral454 I remember it got pretty good reception at the time too. It came out a few weeks after the first Avengers film though, which at the time was a box office phenomenon. Probably explains why not a lot of people talked about this one.
I agree.
Agent K's face shows Agent K's heart was breaking at that moment.
Moments like this in movies makes you appreciate the acting, storytelling, director's vision about the film... this was the best Revelation in MIB trilogy..😭

The reason being b/c we had so many years since the first movie to let the attachment we had w/ the characters sink in.
It was just good. I think no one expected this ending.

at 4:45 when K asks the colonel
"If you ever want to see more, I know a top secret organization that could use a man like you"
and the Colonel said "I wish I could" with a smile, that's when it hits me that he knew he couldn't because he accepted his fate to die when Griffin showed him his future seeing that J is his son and what he does.
Meh. More likely he couldn't because he had a son.
@@M0butu no, it's because Griffin literary showed him the future, he saw and knew what would happen to him as well with who is J to him. That line at the end with him "I wish I could" was him admitting he saw his own death. It was later confirmed by Barry Sonnenfeld himself
@@M0butu you have a very big lack of imagination
@@DaviliaXO I wouldn't say lack of imagination. That's why I always assumed he said he couldn't. Because he had a son to take care of.
@@saiostory1090 That is an interesting take on the scene but I don't see why his knowledge of the future couldn't help him avoid his death. Earlier in this scene we see James use his knowledge of the future to predict and avoid Boris's projectiles.
Further, the alien that showed J's father his future said he showed him only what he needed to see. I don't see why showing him his death would have been necessary.
This movie was a really fantastic ending to all the questions we had over all three films. Josh Brolin was amazing and so was Jermaine Clement as Boris. I genuinely loved the trilogy and I still remember being a young kid in the 90s going to see MiB in the theatre with my parents. Time sure does fly.

@@benjamim8046 Return of the Jedi didn't really do that. Empire made it quite clear that ObiWan snd Yoda were lying to the boy and setting him up as an assassin to his perverted father. It was consistent with 2. Empire was the shocker, with Return as let's do one again and resolve the tragedy.
Jedi's original ending was to have Luke just walk away, realizing he was a tool of heartless fate (like Kirk in City in the Edge of Forever). However having him walk back to the Teddy Bear party and see the ghosts was the happy ribbon, not unlike A New Hope.

This scene brought all the feels and tears. How he calls James back when he wanders even a 2ft away basically telling the audience that he will always be only a few feet away.
This scene is absolutely amazing it completes the whole trilogy.
@Tyler Ton Dang... LOL
@Tyler Ton How so?
Gives a whole new meaning to the first movie when J asks K how many times he's used flashy thingy on him and K says "A few".lol
No he was saying he flashy tho he’s elle a few times he lied & said no to j
“Agent J, if you see Chris tomorrow, Slap him! Don't arrest him, just Slap him !”
😂😂😂😂
Really
This ending brings me to tears every time it's pretty much brings the whole three movies full circle and knowing that K been watching over Jay his whole life and him picking him wasn't random.
And it also shows that the reason he was blunt throughout the series compared to his youth was the responsibility and guilt of Jay's father's death. This is also a sad tragedy, but K's line "it's been my privilege" at the end of the movie shows that the two main characters were eventually saved, overcame tragedy, and ended with a beautiful ending with a noble spirit for each other.
He also has seen others die like his lover in MIB 2
What’s great about this film is that the franchise comes full circle, so it is not just a cash grabbing sequel
6:36 when K grunts I think that was Josh Brolin improving trying not to cry.

I recall watching this at my GFs place back then, with her father, stepmother and her cousin, the moment he realized he just said "oh no..." before starting to cry... it really hits hard as you dont see it coming...
I was emotional and speechless after I saw this scene. I shed tears because my favorite movie trilogy ended the best way possible
Well done ❤
After all these years this scene still gives me the chills
For a movie that was an action comedy, I cried so hard at the part. It was so sad, but such a touching moment between K and little J.

Josh Brolin was magnificent in this role. This MIB3 had a solid screenplay and the chemistry between Will and Josh was as good as it gets.

This was a great scene. Many people panned this movie but I enjoyed it. Brolin's performance as a young Agent K was excellent.
