I'm so excited to make elderberry jam! I love these tips, I especially like how you freeze the elderberries. I wish I would've watched this before, it would've made it easier to pick the berries off of the stems, but no worries I'm still harvesting! I can't wait to try this. I also do no water bath canning method. Thanks again for another great video ❤️😊
Thanks Anja....this was fun to watch even though nobody in my household actually LIKES elderberry products. There is a somehow off-putting undertone to them for us.
I am so glad you enjoyed this video EVEN THOUGH you don't like elderberries that much. Maybe you would like to try my recipe with my "secret ingredient"? If you do, let me know how you liked it 😊 ~ Anja
I am so glad that you're enjoying my videos!!! And that is a great video idea about how to use carbon knives (they're still my favorite!). Stay tuned 😊 ~ Anja
That makes me so happy to hear!! I have a elderberry juice video. You can just boil the juice down to make syrup th-cam.com/video/37Bk36dug5w/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps 😊 ~ Anja
We have made lots and lots of types of jams and jellies over the many years. Have never made elderberry Jam. I don't have fresh elderberry can you use the dehydrated and hydrated and use the juice out of that to make some kind of jam or jelly?
Have you made elderberry jam before? Do you have any tips and tricks? Let me know in the comments 👍!
I am growing elderberries! This will be my first harvest and I can't wait to make this recipe!
Wonderful!

@@OurGabledHome So I'm making my jam and noticed that some green berries slipped through, will this hurt anyone or will it be fine?

Good morning, enjoying the video very much. I do have a question though. Can i use dried elderberries to make jam, juice, etc.?
Yes, you can use dried elderberries but you would have to soak them overnight. I am glad you enjoyed this video 💛 ~ Anja
We have made lots and lots of types of jams and jellies over the many years. Have never made elderberry Jam. I don't have fresh elderberry can you use the dehydrated and hydrated and use the juice out of that to make some kind of jam or jelly?
I think that that would work 👍 ~ Anja
Hello, where did you get the fresh fruit?
I pick them in the wild but also have one bush that I planted in my garden 😊 ~ Anja
Does the jam have a smell after opening? Mine is a bit musky but I’m not sure if that’s normal
Interesting! Elderberry jam does have a distinct smell and taste but maybe not musty. If in doubt, throw it out ...
We just got a bunch of frozen elderberries from a friend, Going to try this, one question, there are no seeds or they are small and edible? Thanks.
I don't mind the seeds and you can eat them. If you don't like the crunch, you can strain the juice after boiling and before adding sugar.
Seen it before!
Can 'dried elderberries' be used ? A couple years ago I checked out growing one but never followed through due to HOA rules ;(
I think you can use dried elderberries but you would want to rehydrate them. Hope this helps 😊 ~ Anja
@@OurGabledHome Thank You Anja!
You are gorgeous for your age. You just don't look as old as you are. I hope you don't take that wrong.😊
Aww ... thank you, that is so sweet of you to say 😍 ~ Anja

Any concerns with leaving the seeds and skin in the jam bc of the higher content of cyanide in the seeds/skin?
Can you substitute honey for the sugar?
Very confusing. More instruction less talk. Grams?
