THIS EPISODE WAS A LOT TO DIGEST! GRISHA LOVED HIS FAMILY AND KIDS AT THE END OF THE DAY. We got a couple of private messages regarding that scene of Eren kissing Historia's hand, so did Eren time traveled and get his memories from the future? This is the true power of the Attack titan!
NOT SPOILER** grisha cant see adult eren ... grisha can see himself and zeke as eren learns that he can share his memories(his own point of view) to grisha... thts the power of attack titan. so grisha saw zeke in his mind from eren's point of view and grisha hugging air irl. eren only show his memories that will help eren to achieve what he wants thts y he didnt show mom's death to grisha cuz that would made grisha to do something else which ruins eren's plan. eren only shows specific memories that will motivate grisha to do what eren wants.

Grisha's VA Hiroshi Tsuchida is a legend for delivering those lines with so much emotion, what an breathtaking performance just like in sole salvation, couldn't appreciate him more.

Perfectly animated by Takahashi Shinya as well. I loved Mappas take on Grishas "breaking" scene. It was a lot better in my opinion, wasn't as dramatic in the manga.

So in order to avoid any confusion regarding the time travel mechanics, I will break down what type of Time travel we're dealing with here. AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. This calls into the question of the existence of free will in the world of Attack of Titan. The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past? Well, he had 3 perfect conditions: 1. He had the ability of the Attack Titan 2. The ability of the Founding Titan 3. He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke. After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. They were freely able to view the past as if it were through a one way mirror. Now if Eren had any other Titan other than the Attack Titan, he would only be able to look. But since Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that he's currently experiencing in real time. So this mean that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually recieving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time. Also Note that everytime, Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always standing behind his dad. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, it is from actually due to the memories from Eren's POV - not my original comment

Sr can anyone explain if attack titan can see the memories of its future holder then why eren saw grisha (previous holder) memories in ss3 (when he was send to paradis and talk to kruger)?
NOT SPOILER.
Every memory Grisha sees is from Eren's PoV and sent back to the past to him. For example, in the underground cave, he's seeing Eren's PoV of himself having a panic attack while Eren's manipulating him. Also when Grisha sees Zeke in the beginning, it's because Eren is standing behind him and sent the memory of that exact moment back to him. If you go back, you'll notice how everything Grisha sees is also in Eren's line of sight.
Also in case the scene where they show past Eren kissing Historia's hand is a bit confusing, that's the exact moment when current Eren sends his memories to past Eren.
Eren did not send his memory to his past self, when he kissed Historia he saw Griesha’s memory of that time he slaughtered the reiss which also means.... he saw the memory future eren sends to griesha as well
Eren is unable to send memories to himself... however by sending his father the memories of the future, when Eren kissed Historia's hand, he saw through his father's memories of his future self doing all those things.
NOT A SPOILER. I suggest taking sometime to remember the past events that may have or could be a part of this newest season because its gonna play as a somewhat crucial part for the info and stuff
Eren saw his future memories through Grisha's memories when he kissed Historia's hand and that's why he's been depressed and dead inside eversince because he already knows what is about to happen and what he must do to protect his people on Paradis from the enemies.

Remember in S3 I think? When Eren touch Historia's hand, he saw memory of Grisha where he killed Frieda and the kids, then the reaction on Eren's face is kinda messed up. He's probably seeing himself talking to Grisha to kill Frieda and the kids.
Grisha can 'hear' Eren because he has the attack titan that can view future memories, and Eren is now creating a memory of being in that place at that time because Zeke has taken him there in the future (by going into a past memory as an observer using the paths), so Grisha at that exact moment is seeing that future memory of Eren looking at him and goading him to take the founder.
Side note: Grisha can only view these memories from first-person, so in that memory that he was receiving, he was looking at himself through Eren's eyes and hearing him speak, this also means that Grisha can only see Zeke while Eren is looking at Zeke; you also can feel the persons emotions through these memories (which is why Armin has become infatuated with Annie from Berthold's memories), so in the moment where Frieda said only Eldians should die, all Grisha knew was that there was someone standing behind him, watching them and absolutely SEETHING with anger
It’s crazy cause Grisha is actually hugging the air he see’s zeke through Erens memories so he knows where zeke is standing
For those were confused: when Grisha said "Why don't you show me everything?" it meant Eren was sending future memories to Grisha but not everything. Meaning there is only 1 set timeline. So what Eren sent to Grisha were certain future memories. So when Grisha gave Eren the Founding + Attack Titan, Eren gained Grisha memories which also contained Future Eren's memories. But he only unlocked it when he kissed Historia's hand. Someone confirm this. I'm trying to say it in a way where I'm only going with what's in the anime and not the manga.
I guess I'll also explain why Grisha can see (Eren) and Zeke. It's pretty simple. One of the certain memories Eren showed Grisha was the one happening right now. So Grisha see's what our Eren (which is considered the future one) sees. And what Future Eren sees, is everything happening around him, including Zeke. So, when Grisha noticed Zeke when he was sitting by the desk, that was because in Eren's memories, Eren was standing behind him looking at Zeke. So those 2 scenes clashed... in a way
Some persons might comment how is he seeing Eren if he view's from Eren POV... so I'll explain what I mean by that... he knows Eren is talking to him because in future Eren's memories, this is one of the scenes he showed Grisha. Meaning Grisha knows Eren is watching his memory in Paths, meaning he is, in a way, virtually seeing Eren because of his memories.
Zeke walks through Grisha’s memories with Eren -> Eren sends his “memories from the future” in this moment to Grisha -> Grisha simultaneously lives the moment and also sees it through Eren’s POV because of the memories -> years later, Eren kisses Historia’s hand and sees Grisha’s memories that includes the memories of his future self -> Eren realizes exactly what he has to do to keep moving forward

Founding titan shifter are led by former king’s idealis (karl fritz), while attack titan shifter are led by the last inheritor (eren yeager). zeke said to eren “so grisha didnt brainwashed u but u always move like he wanted to” actually eren influenced grisha to do that through future memories
It was always supposed to happen and if Grisha hadn't done that and given Eren the power then everyone on Paradis would've been slaughtered way back in S1 because the pacifist king would'nt have fought and would've let the Marleyns and the rest of the world slaughter all his people. We also never would've gotten S2,3,4
the attack titan can interact with the past and future inheritors of the titan, blending all time, thats why zeke and grisha talk, eren talks to grisha. they are all connected. founding titans power helps also
Bruh attack on titan is on another level, the music. The twists, the voice acting. As a manga reader I can't wait for the next episode. Eren chooses what he sends down to his father and Grisha saw zeke through eren in a third person perspective as well which is crazy
so all the scenes of Grisha talking to zeke and eren are because he is seeing the future through erens eyes. if you notice when he talks to zeke eren is standing behind him watching. So its weird but all the stuff is him seeing through someone elses eyes while being there
I must say it was very satisfying to watch Zeke's illusions crumble before his eyes.
He always put himself above others, like he knows what's really happening, what is best for everyone and how to save people from themselves. And Eren just shattered his delusions : he didn't know anything about Eren and Grisha's life inside the walls. He just envisioned what he wanted to justify his own actions. While Eren doesn't need great ideologies to explain his actions ; he just acts according to what he wants for himself (to be free and protect what/who he loves), so he doesn't need any excuse to justify himself.
And Zeke unknowingly allowed Eren to destroy his all plan, because had Zeke not taken him into Grisha's memories to prove his point, Eren would not have been able to influence the past the way he did. Eren motivated Grisha with his memories through the Attack Titan, but it's because he was right beside Grisha that he was able to give him the final push. Zeke's self-righteousness will be his downfall because Eren used him from the beginning. Eren knows everything about Zeke while Zeke knew nothing.
I really don't like Zeke's savior complex, so I enjoyed watching him fall from his pedestal : "You won't get what you wanted. Eren will. I saw what happens next."
Almost as satisfying as the multiple times Levi utterly destroyed Zeke, while he was throwing tantrums because things didn't happen the way he wanted and he couldn't do anything about it.
At 1:26 i think u guys misheard it.....coz Eren wants the rumbling to happen but zeke wants to neutralize all eldians, so that they can't reproduce hence will be no Titan Shifters in future

This episode is crazy
One of the moments I thought was insane was the fact that eren made grisha keep rod reis alive so he could raise historia so that one moment could happen when eren kissed her hand and tapped into all the memories
Also grisha was only seeing zeke thru erens memories cause of the attack Titans ability to see the future of the inheritors
So he could see zeke thru erens point of view and hugged infront of him
I’d like to bring some informations (No spoilers no worries) that many in the fandom also failed to understand by bringing some time loop theories and stuff like that.
While the subject of time is involved, there is NO TIME TRAVELLING. Eren and Zeke are in their father’s memories, so it’s like a dream. Time traveling would imply physical appearance where everyone could see them and where they could actually directly affect it. Everything happens and is influenced by a single timeline. Eren did NOT change the past but rather he wrote from the future thanks to the AT’s powers. The past was already set in stone by Eren.
As for Grisha, he did not see Eren. But he did see Zeke. I think some understood that complexe part but basically Grisha saw Zeke through Eren’s perspective which are the fragments of the future Eren sent to Grisha to manipulate him to fulfill his plan.
So basically Grisha had two perspectives. Eren’s from the future where he could see himself in third person (Hence the stare when showing the key. He is actually directly looking at himself through Eren) and finally his own where he couldn’t see see Eren and Zeke since it was from the past.
That’s why he could hear Eren’s speech to remind his father of his goal and what he came to do. It was a fragment of the future, looking at himself from EREH’s perspective.
Notice how Grisha only sees Zeke when Eren is behind them, looking at BOTH. Thus, why he was able to hug Zeke knowing where he was (From his own perspective he was just hugging the air lmao).
I could have worded all this better but it’s really hard to explain this complex stuff. I am willing to try to answer to some questions for anime onlys if there are stuff you didn’t understand (With no spoilers of course).
What eren and zeke are seeing arent just grishas memories ,, i mean those are memories but theyre connected with the founding titan ( all the previous shifters including eren ) and also zeke thats why eren can touch and talk to his dad

It's not time travel. The Attack Titan is a being whose consciousness lives temporally non-linear relative to other people. He wasn't physically traveling back and forward in time, it's the memories of different time periods being available at certain points in the Attack Titan's timeline to the holder of the Attack Titan, and it looks like Eren can gatekeep the information that past Attack Titans receive. This leads me to believe that Eren will be the last Attack Titan.

When you realize that just like the king Fritz manipulated future owner of the founding titan, Eren manipulated previous owners of the attack titan and that include himself.
Eren set all things because he has the power to go back and also he can see the future thats why he said to stop Eren. And if you could remember the previous attack titan told his dad to protect Armin and Mikasa because they are the only one who can stop Eren from his plan.
Guys, Eren manipulated both Krueger and Grisha in order to steal the founder. When he kissed Historias hand he saw the future himself destroying the world and also manipulating his father but he also saw a frame of what he believed was freedom (but wasnt lol) that I wont put into detail here cuz will be animated soon. Eren had never been brainwashed, rather it's the father who got manipulated by eren to kill the reiss family. Eren maybe the main character of AOT but he's no more the hero of AOT.
Nahh dude, in his position, he got to do what needed to do even if it means losing everything as long as Eldia will be free on the future. I think people misunderstood how much Eren is willing to sacrifice,..his willing to sacrifice the world or even himself or anyone as long as it's not his friends nor Armin or Mikasa.
He hate himself at first, just like at the flashback when he kissed Historia's hand, he saw himself convincing his father to kill the Reiss family. He's still a good guy nonetheless, just like Grisha, he's a soft hearted person but he had to convinced himself to fight.. saying "tatake" on the mirror because he know he's trying to push himself to be the bad guy because that's the only way.
