I have had the pleasure of meeting Ernie Ladd at DFW waiting on a flight back to Lafayette. He was one of the kindest and very gracious people to talk with.
Ernie was on the sidelines for the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl win over the Minnesota Vikings in January of 1970. He played for the Chiefs earlier that season and injured his knee to the point where he couldn't perform. But he was given a Super Bowl ring when it was all over.
Ernie Ladd was one of greatest heels of all time. He could do it all in the business. Ernie Ladd had a very unique understanding of professional wrestling. He was way ahead of his time.
Big Cat was a big tough guy in the ring...but a really nice guy out of the ring. Met him about a year before he passed away outside of a Circle K gas station in south Louisiana. Spoke with him for a few minutes He was extremely gracious and didn't seem bothered by me walking up and talking to him. I made sure to tell him that watching him perform every Saturday on Mid-South Wrestling helped get me through the grieving process from the death of my father. He smiled, shook my hand and said "Thank you!" I believe that he felt a sense of gratitude. Great athlete and kind man.
Wow another amazing video from the best channel on TH-cam. Ernie Ladd was one of the best of all time. The greatest match everyone must see in Ladd vs chick donavan. He also took chick's head off . You will watch at least 10 and laugh to your a s off. He was amazing in and out of the ring. Thank you and keep up the good work
I grew Up in St Louis and My Dad used to go to the matches at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel back then. He said Ernie the Cat Ladd was on eof the Best wrestlers that wrestled at the chase. he sued to talk about Fritz von erich and Bulldog Bob brown mixing it up. We stil have a poster from a match where Jonny Valiant I think Dad said had His eye popped out from a match there.
Ernie was an incredible heel. He had charisma, he was a tremendous athlete and influence on wrestling. Most importantly he was a very strong Christian man. He's with the ultimate ring master in Jesus.
With this being Black History Month there should be a Black History Month on professional African-American wrestlers. 1 Ernie the cat lad 2. Bobo Brazil 3. Rocky the soulman Johnson 4 Hacksaw butch reed 5. Ron Simmons 6. Tony Atlas 7. Coco beware 8. Booker T 9. The rock 10. The Godfather

Big fan of Mark Henry. Class act & knows what he's talking about 👍
I'm old enough to have seen Ernie play football in the late 60s.
Number 99 was a beast for the Chargers and Chiefs. 💯
Me too, next to Buck Buchanan. Huge men
He was No. 77 for the Chargers and an All-Pro in the AFL. Also had a championship ring with the 1963 Chargers.

@@Chiefsfansince-qb1ktno offense but that's the only era I followed the Chiefs. Otis Taylor & Buck were my guys
It’s strange seeing Kevin Sullivan in this light. He was such a great heel!
Ernie was a great football player. He really played his roll well in pro wrestling because in reality , he was a gentle giant.

Ernie was the king of all wrestling and on my Mount Rushmore of professional wrestlers.

Ernie "The Cat" Ladd was always a favourite when he would come to Big Time Wrestling at Cobo Hall in Detroit when I was a kid. He had the "it" factor.
I Remember those days at Cobo with the Sheik and Ernie and the Olympia with Dick the Bruiser and Bobo, What WARS they had!

I have some much respect for ALL these guys. Thank you for all the feedback .
Ernie Ladd on the mic was ahead of his time. I love WWE has him in the intro. I call him the black Ric Flair.
Ernie Ladd was one off they best trash talkers in his day, Andre the dummy he would call Andre the Giant. Lol classic shit lol.

Ernie Ladd used to wrestle here in ohio in the mid 70s for studio matches he was impressive even in studio matches
Ladd was completely awesome
The Big Cat was my favorite
My favorite Ernie Ladd moment was (watch the Ernie Ladd - Jay Strongbow incident)
It was incredible. That head dress of the chief did not fair so good.
Stink Bow was a Whisky drinker ... Italian fraudster
If I could bring back five or ten dead wrestlers, Ernie Ladd and Ox Baker would definitely be in the group.
I was in the stands with Mark in Lafayette .
Let me tell you something MR TV ANNOUNCER lol ernie ladd great heel

That girl standing in the back should be filling Kevin Sullivan’s drink
Let me holla at you playa💪🏾
Man! Ernie would be cancelled today if he gave his type of promos in 2024. He did not give a shit what he said for the heat.
Mark and Jim Cornette could do Ernie Ladd impersonations all day long!
The natives are getting restless!
Is that Teddy Long?
No that's Token. Lol
YES
Good olde Peanut Head 😋
No. It's Becky Lynch.

Orange Texas royalty = Ernie Ladd

Babe Parilli at QB.
Ernie was so " smart " .
Kevin Sullivan just recently pessed
Look at the smokin hott chic in the back.
Smokin hott....? Seriously?
To quote the late, great Gorilla Monsoon, "you better see your occulist".
I remember the name Ernie Ladd, but not the face.
