The Kid flies himself to most races and back and forth from Dawsonville to Charlotte a few times a week. Snowboarding isn't the most risky thing he does. Haven't heard anybody mention this. As a fan I'm glad he lives his life.

Except flying is way less dangerous than snowboarding. The severity of the consequence of something going wrong is less of a factor than the likelihood of something going wrong is.

@joshuapowers4623 everything is reative. Snowboarding, race car driving, flying, ect. Something is gonna get ya eventually. I shoot a lot. chances are I stand a bigger chance of a receiver blowing up in my face than your average person . The only thing you can do is use proper skill/knowledge and safety equipment and live your life. Just saying I don't think Chase did anything out of his character.

I don’t like Denny Hamlin on track, but off track, he the voice for the drivers, he brings up so many good points he’s so genuine, and he seems like a very nice honest family man, I don’t like Chase Elliott either, but racing is very mentally challenging so it is nice to catch a break from your line of work, so I don’t really blame Chase for wanting to have fun and relax. Does it suck for Rick Hendrick and Hendrick motorsports, yes, but you never expect for you to get injured most of the time, including racing which is also extremely dangerous, also Rick still has 3 talented drivers driving for him so I think he will be fine, and eventually so will Chase, it will all work itself out.

Most everyone I know, who is a successful, high achieving professional, engages in other activities, some of which would be considered as “high risk”, activities. But isn’t part of what has contributed to their success in the first place? That’s what makes them who and what they are. They take risks everyday, and they are high achievers as a result of it. Thank you Denny for your commentary and for pointing out that we all have a life besides our jobs.

Man, really like Denny Hamlin as a high IQ, NASCAR guy. Would be a great guy to drive for. I hate owners who wont let drivers live their lives. Sure, it MIGHT prevent an accident. But what's the purpose of life if you can't enjoy it? If you let your guys live, they probably perform better. I think that's the big thing Denny is saying here. The mental aspect of letting a guy do what he wants, is going to keep him happier and motivate him. Look at Denny's teammate at JGR in C. Bell. He can't run dirt races anymore and you can see it on his face. It just kills him. On another note, Damn Denny. Get that should bone fixed. LOL

If he has screws in there you CANNOT put ANY weight on it. Golf and Basketball ore one thing. Action sports are completely different. There are snowboarders with way more talent on the mountain than Chase who ended their careers in a millisecond with a serious injury. Chase has a job. He works for Rick Hendrick. Chase owes him as an employee of that company to stay in shape and healthy for racing. There are tons of things you can do to relieve stress that don't include dangerous sports. It's just not right.

He's called a veteran, who's on the safety board, and has a lot of respect in the garage from the drivers. Look at what Kevin Harvick tweeted last year when all the safety issues and Crappy A$$ Parts came to a head. Denny and Chase did some of the first testing with the new Gen car. Denny told them the back isn't soft enough and wont work. It's going to cause issues. NASCAR said the data doesn't back him up and said the car is going out as is. Kevin not only tweeted that but said Denny got all the drivers together and showed them the risk and concerns with it at Daytona. NASCAR didn't listen. Kurt Busch is still out. Alex Bowman missed many races. Many guys got the worst headaches they ever had. The point being all these guys respect Denny in the garage. He had 18 years of cup experience. I would listen to what he has to say. He's had some great podcast and a lot of people are learning from his high IQ on the track.

I actually think he shouldn't get a waiver. If you do something that could result in you winding up out of the car & that happens, you took the risk and it cost you a shot at the championship. In Busch's case, he broke his legs crashing in Daytona, the car tokk him out of the car. What's the point of having the eligibility requirements if the conditions for a waiver are, as they seem to be, being a driver with a reasonable chance of winning the championship. Is Ty dillion in the 77 getting a waiver if he breaks a leg snowboarding on the off chance he wins at a speedway? I doubt it. Either have the requirements or don't.
