If you like Aoki's, Gotta try Kaimana's, close to Jenny's Shrimp/Surf & Salsa. ALL of Kaimana's syrups are in-house concoction's!

You should have gone to Paalaa Kai bakery/market while on the north shore side; snow puffies and the fried chicken. Liliha bakery has a great loco moco, get it with the garlic fried rice.

Good Choices -- Iʻm assuming Amanda & Felix suggested most of them. I live in Kaimuiki near St. Louis Drive In, so I go there two or three times a month. I usually have the (Super) Japanese Plate Deluxe you had or the Seafood Bento, or the Mahimahi Plate as Amanda mentioned. Like everywhere else, the prices have gone up and the quantity has gone a little down since two years ago, but itʻs still a great bargain, especially for the seafood and meat. They also have great Student Specials (for all the nearby schools) with a burger or two, or tuna sandwich, and fries and drink for under $8! (Used to be under $6.) I hardly go to Leonardʻs now because itʻs always too crowded with mostly visitors, but I grew up getting malasadas from there -- My favorite is still the original or cinnamon-sugar. All the other places you visited are favorites of mine, too (Thatʻs why I think their Amanda & Felixʻs suggestions) except I havenʻt been to Paia Fish Market because I rarely go to Waikiki and I have been to Maui for many years. Iʻm glad you got to most of these places with your family, and I hope you all come back again -- Thereʻs always more ʻono food and drinks to try in Hawaiʻi!

I left Hawaii in 1953. I am Chinese, Japanese and Hawaiian. This is what I miss. (I do not eat poultry or raw fish.) Poi, lau lau, pipikaula, kulolo, char siu, pan fried noodles, won ton mein, kau yuk, pineapple shrimp, sweet and sour pork, teriyaki, yakisoba, takuan (brown color, not yellow), shrimp tempura, sweet potato tempura, fried fishcake.....there are a lot more, but don't know the name. All the old time Chinese and Japanese all died off and never pass their art to the next generation To be fair, the next generation didn't want to carry on.
