I feel like the only person on earth that actually loves the idea of Pattinson’s Batman in the DCU. I feel like his moody, goth Batman would be a good dynamic with a goofy, hopeful Superman.
The Batman was a Year Two story, by the time of Part 2, Pattinson will only be three years younger than Ben Affleck when he was the old, seen and done everything Batman in BvS.
The world of Gotham and Metropolis are as chalk and cheese in the comics as shown in the Reeves movie & Superman teaser trailer. Batman could be grounded while dealing with crime mobsters & Arkham Asylum psychos, and level up his game in a team-up with Superman and other DC heroes. He's a billionaire Bruce Wayne with access to world's best techology & science tools. The Penguin didn't even namedropped Batman yet it was so fulfilling. Similarly, The Batman not mentioning Superman ain't problem.
7:18 BD to be fair, James Gunn did comment saying a 5 year gap or more is fairly common in sequels. 7 years between Alien and Aliens. 14 years between Incredibles. 7 years between the first two terminators. 13 years between Avatars. 36 years between Top Guns. 5 years between Mission Impossible 6 and 7. 5 years between Thor 3 and 4, 6 years between Doctor Strange 1 and 2. And of course, 6 years between Guardians Vol 2 and Vol 3 (granted these characters have made appearances throughout eg Avengers). Lastly, it will be 5 years since we last saw Holland’s Spidey between Spider-Man No Way Home and Spidey 4 by the time that comes out (unless he makes an appearance in Born Again). We all just have to be patient and let Matt Reeves and co cook
I saw that - but nostalgia sequels seem irrelevant to this conversation and Guardians wasn’t supposed to be so long, plus there were in 2 Avengers films & a Thor movie in the mean time, Doctor Strange was the same. MI 6 & 7 had the pandemic between them, no? Avatar is an exception and the only comparison I see as kinda fair is Alien, but even Alien probably wasn’t planning a sequel back then, while The Batman was

The reality is that certain time HAS passed by between sequels and in the scheme of things we all got what we wanted, we just had to wait a lil. Also in time won’t The Batman movies (hopefully a trilogy) BE nostalgic aha - that’s the very nature of the word. In time we won’t even be worrying about how long it took between sequels we’ll just be glad we got them. Again, it’ll be 5 years between Spidey 3 and 4 when that comes out…
i'm starting to believe that the reason for the delay is that the batman universe will join the dcu after all and that matt reeves is trying to rework the script to fit within the dcu as opposed to being an elseworld's project
-if there were no other Batman or DC or superhero content coming out in the meantime, then the five and a half year wait might feel worse, but as it is, I don't mind so much as long as it's in service to Reeves making the movie he wants to make. It strikes me as a sign of our fandom hypocrisy that we call for studios to slow down on churning out content and focus on producing the best possible movie or show, then get impatient and demand they produce them quicker when they do just that. -if Reeves wanted to incorporate his Batman into the DCU and saw cool storytelling potential there, then I'd be down for it and you can always find ways to massage the canon to make it work. But if it's not inspiring to him and his crew, then by all means keep it separate Elseworlds goodness! -It's very funny to me that people will decry the notion of two separate live action Batmen, then in the same breath turn around and talk about how much they want Tobey or Andrew back in their own Spidey films while Tom's still active in the MCU. 😂 -Sony CEO is full of sour grapes and wanting to kick rocks on his way out the door. The movies weren't good is what it comes down to. I think it's always reductive to say "just make good movies" because very few people set out to make bad ones, but when the critics, large swaths of the fandom and general audiences all collectively bemoan your franchise (even those who maybe had fun with one or two, which is definitely NOT me. 😜), then the fault might not lie in the stars but in your horrible movies, my dude! -Black Adam was atrocious. WW84 at least had a few moments of gorgeous cinematography. BA was just horrid from top to bottom. And I LOVE the Rock! -Gunn has done no wrong by me. Love all his movies and shows that I've seen, can't wait to see how he steers a ship that's been rudderless for so long now.

Not a lot of people remember that Matt Reeves was involved with The Batman since Affleck "stepped down" in Jan 2017. He took a long time to make The Batman but I'm getting a bad fealing about this.

Personally I don’t want to see the DCU merge with Reeves’ Batman universe. It seems clear that what Gunn and his team want to do with Batman is so drastically different than what Reeves is doing, and I envy that more than anything else. I think the only way they would seriously consider merging is if Superman bombs, which feels unlikely.
I doubt that Batman 2 will ever happen. If Reeves's Batman is better than DCU's batman then it's a very awkward situation for gunn and wb. They may not want to take that risk and we know gunn already lied about stuff couple of times so he might lie about batman 2 happening.
I dont want batman trying to keep up with the rest of the justice league. that's not his character. It's so easy to make him. Just give us arkham batman or the Justice League unlimited batman.
It’s not Sony hate. It’s clear knowledge that Sony doesn’t know how to make a good Spider-Man/related movie. To make movies without Spider-Man is ridiculous. So lucky that we didn’t get Silver Sable/Black Cat.

I'm perfectly fine if Pattinson merges or doesn't merge with the DCU. I'm more interested in Superman and Supergirl at this moment in time.
I mean seeing how Matt Reeves is taking too long with the script might as well make Battinson the DCU's Batman.
