Also the little black triangle piece that swaps out on his abdomen. That is the Black Hole weapon. The black part shows the roll up garage door open. The normal default part is the door closed.

This Ideon has just 1 major problem for me: it's way too loose. The heaviest SOC can't support itself on plastic ratchets, like you said, the arms don't want to stay up, the upper body section tends to bend forward, hell even in vehicle mode some parts don't stay in place!
The only good joints I found were the knees ones, those are nice and sturdy. But all the others, not so much...

I noticed another goof in your review; the actual stand that comes with Ideon also doubles as a stand for the Ideon gun when held by Ideon; one of the rods plugs into the big hole on top and it's a lot more stable than one of the small bases.

Having said that, it's a wonderful display-piece and I wish this series got more recognition and a more affordable, non-transformable SRC edition. I would surely get it.
The size weight and looseness make me think of both my 30th anniversary GoLion (Voltron) and my Miracle Metals Dairuger XV. (vehicle Voltron).
Thank you so much for your honest review. I was considering getting this guy after watching some other reviews recommending it so much. But with your video, I can see the problems with this figure. Too me that loose hips is definitely a deal breaker. I'm gonna skip on this one and get the FA version for now. Hopefully, they'll do a re-issue on this guy with better rachets and more sturdy.
The Mecha A (Ideo-Buster) can possibly launch a weaker version of Ideon Sword. I mean that I remember that in the show, the it could become Ideon's arms an head outside of a combination. Maybe it has access to some other abilities?

Nice set, but too much plastic! Could be better with a lot of panel lines work!
Awesome review, very detailed. I think this SoC is impressive and I doubt its transformation can be topped in faithfulness and complexity. Sadly, the inexplicable lack of diecast joints on key spots hurt the overall quality because it's very noticeable how flimsy it is. I can excuse that (and even I don't like it) flimsy gunplas, but for a diecast figure of this price, not so much.
It's just top heavy, there's way too much diecast on the upper body and that affects the weight distribution in a negative way, its' center of gravity is shifted way too high.. The arms joints could use some work though.
I think you made an assumption about folding both legs up to a "sitting" pose. You're not supposed to put both up at the same time, only one at a time. He often kicks other vehicles in the show.
Ideon does tend to sit up on the Solo ship's deck...
When they going to do Bio Robo from bioman? I would like to see a remake version and buy one for my collection.

This is the most gundam like non gundam thing I have ever seen.

Yeah the head is VERY similar to GM from Gundam. Aside from Ideon, the alien mech is really different from Gundam.
It appeared in the main timeline During ZZ with Judau, Amuro and Char team up to stop Ideon from destroying the Universe.
