Houses don’t have to be grand to be gorgeous. This one is beautiful Kappy. These older homes were built sooooo much better than the homes of today. Most newer homes start falling apart after 20yrs and then there’s the homes you bring us, that’s been standing for hundreds of years. We wouldn’t have these beauties of the past if it wasn’t for your dedication and hard work. Thanks so much Kappy! 😊
I agree with you ,unique they are ,I'm glad to be able to reply because I can't put a comment for some reason, first time it's done it on my explorers, but must be messed up
This is one of those cases of, "LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING!" From outside I was expecting pretty much a simple 2- or 3-room cottage, but it's much larger inside than appears. What a surprise! And such a grand entrance, too! WOW!
@@anncarlin8767what makes you think slaves built it? Just because it’s in the south?? Not everyone in the south had slaves!! My husbands family is from the south and didn’t own one slave!! They done all the hard work themselves!!
Wonder does anyone owns it because the property is clean and the house is beautiful ans and nice and and quiet also no neighbors either great house and video kappy.
I absolutely love the first house and wish I had money to renovate it. I’m not crazy about it being near a busy road but the house is a perfect fixer upper in my opinion.
Now this would be a place, if I could win the lottery, I would buy and fix to live in. It is my type of place! The sun hitting the windows to each side of the front door was awesome! The inside under the stairs I'd almost bet was what the original wood looked like. Great find! The second place reminded me of a friends place when I was a kid. You knocked another video out of the park Mr Kappy! Thanks for taking me along! 😊
I liked seeing the original wood under the staircase. I imagine it would have been very dark in there and people wanted something brighter so they painted it.
I believe tgats called a dogtrot, originally, tgere wouldve been an open breezeway between the downstairs rooms. A shotgun house is when all the rooms are on one side, so if you fired a shotgun, the pellets would go through all the rooms. Thanks for all your great videos!
Someone place save this beautiful piece of history. Must have a metal roof. This house looks like it would last another 100 years. Thanks Kappy. This one is incredible
KAPPY a simple thank you for bringing us these videos. I look forward to every one. You have a great voice and personality. Your love of these homes shows in every description..
This home is beautiful. In the days it was built wallpaper was big, so the board walls above the wainscoting could have had wallpaper on them. You can see how they covered the fireplaces and had wood stove heat after they became available. There is also a stovepipe hole upstairs too. I didn't see one in the kitchen, but there must have been. The roofline is still as straight as a die. I would love to live in this house and restore it!
I really wonder why this house was vacated. I have seen people in the area live in much worse houses. It could be a case of a farmer buying the land and really not wanting to fool with the house except to keep it looking neat.
Beautiful home! This would be Greek Revival architecture, popular when this house was built. The center hallway, with doors at both ends, allowed breezes to flow through. A shotgun house is a narrow house, common in the south, where you could shoot a gun from front to back. These homes were quite small and are still common in the deep south.
Kappy I like it when you explore houses down south those are some of my favorites. Hearing that rain fall brings back memories when I stayed at my grandma's house in the summer and she had a tin roof and it was so loud when the rain fell
Small, but very sturdy. I noticed that the design on one of the fireplaces was an echo of the wainscoting throughout. I've often wondered why that wasn't done more. Usually the fireplaces might be lovely, but they really don't look anything like the rest of the house.
My favorite abandoned explorer! I binge watch every day trying to catch up ☺ What I love about your explores, is the love you have for the houses. Pointing out the character and the pure respect you have. I appreciate you and your videos. I look forward to viewing more!
Great video! That book was the first chapter book I ever read and I loved it! I got it from the Weekly Reader book club newsletter that we got in school every week.
Cute little place, innit? I liked the second house a lot, that could be easily spruced up and the upgrades it already had look nice, maintained the character while updating. ✌
This first house was just beautiful and I hope someone can restore !!! The shiplap and wainscoting was so much to be preserved!!!! I loved how the hung the curtains !!! Thanks Kappy !!!
A shotgun house is one room wide and 2-4 rooms long, with no hallways. They got the name because you could fire a shotgun through the front door, and it would pass through the whole house and out the back door!
I love all the natural wood in this house, so beautiful. This house has really stood the test of time and still savable too. Thanks for sharing and have a great day and safe travels
The first old home was wonderful I would clean it up fix the bath room and what ever else needed fixing and move in . Just have to wonder why she was left like this such a wonderful old home with a lot of life left in her .The second looked like a big home ....pretty fireplaces great video as always Kappy!!
Dieses Haus ist zauberhaft 😊von außen denkt man nicht das es doch im inneren so viel Platz gibt auch der Zustand wie früher gebaut wurde ist nicht zerstört 👍
Great to see you on a Wednesday Kappy! Just what I needed. The mini mansion was really beautiful & still looked like it was in good shape. Loved all the beautiful carved wood. The next place had an amazing porch. Take care
Love it. absolutely stunning indeed man look at that beauty and nice land as well ....They don't make them like it used to be that's for sure.... Much love from NC my home state all my family from here 💪🏻👍🏻🤍...But Imagine the life those walls have seen in its years a bet the walls in these places could tell you some history stories
I am so very happy that the interstate didn't take this little jewel. I would love to have this little place to redo, but in another location. I am really amazed at how old it is. I really appreciate you going there and capturing it. Anytime, I see a staircase done that style I know the house is old. I certainly didn't realize that house was that old! This area was not one of the more affluent places and there is still a great deal of poverty.
Hi Kappy!! A surprise video!! Thank you so much! I love the old antebellum homes. So much character and history. I love these homes you've shared with us today. Simple and elegant. I could move right in the first one most definitely!! Thank you for sharing these amazing homes with us. Happy Wednesday to you! ✌️❤️
What a cool old house. Love the tongue and groove finish inside, the wainscoting, the woodwork. Shotgun houses were in southern Louisiana. The name came from front and back doors in house lining up so you could fire shotgun and not hit anything inside. They allowed breezes to move thru house, cooling them
I would move into that second home in a heart beat. It's beautiful - full of character and there's a homely warmth to it even though it's abandoned. Thank you.
The first house could be amazing but the second house has me puzzled. It didn't look to have any damage. It looks like it has been empty for too long, basing that on paint colors. I'd take that house in a heartbeat.
The first house had such beautiful windows that let in so much light and the wainscotting and shiplap were gorgeous. I loved the big front porch on the second one.
What a true time capsule! All of the architecture is beautiful! A true testament to how well these old places were made that it’s still standing! Thank you for sharing this old place!
A shotgun house is one room wide with every doorway aligned so the entire house becomes a breezeway. That is an interesting building with identical front and back door including transoms. Strange how the second floor ceiling could have been higher with a pitched section as many older houses are built. The roof is solid so it seems someone not too long ago felt this place was worth preserving.
Nah my camera was acting up got soaked in the rain! Most of my footage was lost so I clipped all the rooms and showed a brief view of it! Was the most I could do sadly! Really bummed me out! Thanks for watching
In 100 years the houses built today will be quick rubble if not maintained…but hopefully some of the older well built homes of yesteryear will likely still be around( provide the roof is good)
Oh my you’re in SC !! This was a very sweet home. The wood looked like what we call lighter knot!! Very good shape. I like the strings for curtain rods 😊. We had them long ago too. You made do with whatever you had on hand. Think it would still make a good home with a whole lot of cleaning. Old houses just have an unique smell to the wood. Looks almost like my Aunts house, it sat on old wooden pillars. Thanks for the video and the last house was pretty too, but I think the first was my favorite.
When my mother was born in 1926, the house she was born in was built in 1910.The house is still standing in 2024!

Newer homes start coming apart immediately
I agree
Thank you for sharing our history to me as I’m not physically able to get around and explore!❤
Well said always!! So true about newer homes! Just not built the same! Thank you very much for the kind words and watching!! :)
This is one of those cases of, "LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING!" From outside I was expecting pretty much a simple 2- or 3-room cottage, but it's much larger inside than appears. What a surprise! And such a grand entrance, too! WOW!
Right!! So nice and spacious inside! I really liked the huge upstairs as well! Thank you for watching!! :)
Reminds me of my grandmas house
If these old places could talk. What marvelous stories they could tell ❤ us.
what makes you think they are marvelous - I get bad vibes from this house and the fact slaves built it ~~~~
@@anncarlin8767what makes you think slaves built it? Just because it’s in the south?? Not everyone in the south had slaves!! My husbands family is from the south and didn’t own one slave!! They done all the hard work themselves!!
@@anncarlin8767while yes, some houses were built by slaves, but to assume it was without all of the facts is kinda ignorant ✌️
My family is from Alabama; they were share croppers so they didn’t own slavers.
@anncarlin8767 not all homes were built by slaves 😂😂 not everyone had slaves
This is charming! I loved seeing this little gem. Thank you, Kappy !
Close to freeway for easy shopping and going to work...
Wow
This doesn't look like an antebellum plantation home. This house is nice and belt very good, I like it.
I'm sure that whoever built that, was very proud.
Really 😎😎🏠 🏠 Kappy!! 🎉🎉

This house seems like it held up very well, and I am happy to see they didn't leave alot of junk in it. Small, but beautiful house, you are right.
I believe tgats called a dogtrot, originally, tgere wouldve been an open breezeway between the downstairs rooms. A shotgun house is when all the rooms are on one side, so if you fired a shotgun, the pellets would go through all the rooms. Thanks for all your great videos!

First house, the upstairs was larger than expected.
KAPPY a simple thank you for bringing us these videos. I look forward to every one. You have a great voice and personality. Your love of these homes shows in every description..
The outside appearance belies the spacious interior. 👍👍 Kappy
Well said! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
The first house, OMG, so worth restoring! Just so beautiful! Second house was stunning! So sad to see it empty! ❤
Absolutely Gorgeous
Very nice kappy. Nice surprise on a hot Wednesday. 😃👍❤
It is a hot one!! Thank you for watching!! :)

A house that was built well, built solid, and built to last. As they say; they don't make them like they used to. 🏠
Neat'n tidy, almost as if the occupants left not that long ago.
Great wood work, must be well built, still looks habitable. Larger home and land are really nice. Thanks Kap
Almost livable!

How simply incredible! It’s homes like this I wish I was skilled at remolding; and wealthy enough to do that! Just beautiful.
Good shape for so old amazing
A shotgun house is one room wide and 2-4 rooms long, with no hallways. They got the name because you could fire a shotgun through the front door, and it would pass through the whole house and out the back door!
It looks more like an enlarged old dog-trot style.

I love these old homes! I wish I could buy it & restore it back to her magnificent glory! Very awesome video bro! ❤️👍🤘
The second one absolutely beautiful also ❤
How quaint
Hi Kappy, what a wonderful surprise in the middle of the week😅
That sunlit breezeway is stunning! Lovely house. Thanks, Kappy…
Once upon a time!

That is the warmest entry way! It glowed the hallway so beautifully.
Lovely house.❤😊❤
Beautiful

I love this. I could live in it as is lol. It seems structurally sound. Thanks for the video on this hump day
Great to see you on a Wednesday Kappy! Just what I needed. The mini mansion was really beautiful & still looked like it was in good shape. Loved all the beautiful carved wood. The next place had an amazing porch. Take care

Glad you enjoy! Thank you for watching!! :)
First house is an ideal candidate for do-it-yourself Fixer to take on. Well preserved and beautifully crafted.
Beautiful home in good shape too! Great video 👍
❤
Very neat old house! A fixer upper indeed! Would love to live there. Thanks for showing us!☺️
Found way to comment beautiful home love it
Thank you very much! Don’t know why TH-cam bugs out sometimes! Thank you for watching!! :)
I would move into that second home in a heart beat. It's beautiful - full of character and there's a homely warmth to it even though it's abandoned. Thank you.
Love these old houses Kappy. All the big windows, wainscoting, old furniture and staircases. Just beautiful. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a beauties. Nothing like what is built today. These were built to last.
Amen to that! Thank you for watching!! :)
Amazing and more amazing is... NO GRAFFITI OR VANDILISM.
Great house
That second place was awesome 😎👍 looks like someone restored there dream house then left it behind
These gems you find are always on a busy road . I was surprised how muffled the traffic is on the inside!
🎉
Thank you Kappy. The first house is on the top of my favorite list. I'd move right in.

If I was a little girl,I'd be playing house here. ❤
Two beautiful houses and makes me sad to see that they aren't loved any more. Stay safe Kappy. 🙏💙
Are you serious?🤔NO plantation home is beautiful.
The first home was beautiful. I wish I could fix it up. Would be the perfect size.
Thank you Kappy for the midweek pick up 😊
Much appreciated for watching!! :)
The first house could be amazing but the second house has me puzzled. It didn't look to have any damage. It looks like it has been empty for too long, basing that on paint colors. I'd take that house in a heartbeat.
ah the classic Wednesday release!
I wonder why the second house was abandoned! Both houses were really nice and had such a good feeling about them.
That first house was really something and done with such taste. The craftsmanship was beautiful. Always happy to see a new video from you - thank you.
The first house had such beautiful windows that let in so much light and the wainscotting and shiplap were gorgeous. I loved the big front porch on the second one.
Charm personality,

That is so beautiful!
Loved it !
I want it. It is so adorable.
Nice
5:56 the little things make me sad - like these socks that were carefully folded one last time, though they probably didn’t know it’d be the last
