You are an excellent ambassador for exploring the simming envelope Mark; every time I watch one of your videos a new perspective opens and I can feel my brain plasicity being exercised just that bit more (which is a bit essential looking from this end of life's 'telescope'. When I clicked fly I had no magenta line but a white one. Why is this so I ha r to have the Flight director and GPS on first before making the route plan. Thanks for explaining the flight planning...But How we calculate the right altitude for each flight ?
    MSFS gives very high altitude even for Short flights

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, MSFS reports ridiculous altitudes most the time. Altitude is determined by aircraft type. Small GA usually 5000-9000’ turbo 13000-21000. Small airliner 18000-24000 large airliner 23000-39000. These are a rough guide only.

      @abduyaqubi9822 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SimHangerFS I appreciate your useful information...Now I just found how we calculate the right altitude for each Flight ✈️
      First take the distance from departure to arrival and multiply by 30 then the score multiply by 2 let’s say your distance 200 NM multiply by 30 it’s 6000 and multiply by 2 the score is 12000 so the right altitude for this flight is FL120✔️... and so on for all Flights it worked for me and I wish this help you and others.

    Is it possible to make more than one flight plan so you won’t have to leave the flight to create a new flight plan every single time after you finish one flight

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but you would need to use the in-cockpit flight planning via the fmc or Garmin devices installed in some of the aircraft.

  • @nitramluap
    @nitramluap 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    They're only flight levels above 10,000ft and when you're above that all aircraft altimeter pressures are set to 29.92. Below that you set the barometric pressure based on forecasts (area, terminal, etc) and they're not called 'flight levels' - you simply refer to the altitude in feet. So 'Flight Level 75' (or Flight Level 60, etc.) isn't a thing technically and you'd never call it that regardless.

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I beg to differ, any altitude below transition level is in feet. Above that it is FL.

    Hi Mark, a couple of “howlers” here I’m afraid.
    We never say “feet” and “Flight Level” together.
    An IFR Flight Level is an altitude in multiples of 1000 ft based on the Standard Pressure Setting (SPS) of 1013.2 Hps, or Millibars. It is set as you pass through the Transition Altitude in the climb. It’s use is to reduce the chance of you hitting other aircraft.
    An altitude in feet is based on the QNH (or the QFE at UK Mil airfields) and is all about you not hitting the ground, it is set when flying below Transition Altitude, or when passing Transition Level in the descent (or as directed by ATC).
    So, if you hear “Flight Level” you must be on the SPS, and if you hear “feet” you must be on QNH or QFE, and never should the twain be mixed !
    En-route charts are used world-wide and produced by any number of organisations, both commercial and military, and come in two flavours: Low and High depending on the national division of airspace.
    Rgds
    Chris

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Chris, appreciate the response and detail. You are correct in your statements. My only comment would be this is aimed at first time simmers. The key aim here is simplicity.

      @@NickMarlin1234 manually. You will have to type in every point yourself by searching for it after you have made the plan in a web browser on SimBrief or an application of some kind. No disrespect to Mark, but is anyone really using MSFS 2020 for any type of instrument practice? I have MSFS and xplane. MSFS has great visuals, but I have not found aircraft systems conducive to instrument practice. Xplane visuals aren’t nearly on the level of MSFS but the accuracy of instruments and aircraft systems are sooo much better. MSFS is fun as a game.

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fair comment, however, MSFS is doing something the other sims have not excelled at, bringing younger, new simmers into the genre. This tutorial is aimed at that audience and to create interest in the IFR and planning area. MSFS will expand and develop over time, so hopefully provide a platform to generate interest in what will become tomorrow’s pilots.
