I've got three of these - a black dial/silver body, a white dial/gold body, and a rare rose dial/silver body. Two were Made in USA, one in Switzerland. They get all kinds of compliments! These are the only watches I wear. I paid about $350 each in the 1990s for the gold and rose/silver watches, both American. I bought the Swiss watch new for $495 in the early 2000s. If you want someone to actually remark on your watch, the Ventura gets attention! And, it has a cool history. Just a cool, retro, but also modern-looking timepiece.
I've got the original Ventura's little brother. The 1957 Pacer. Basically the same case design, but gold-filled, with different lugs that are white gold-filled, and a different dial. I removed the 500 movement and replaced it with the more reliable 505, but in railroad grade with a swan neck regulator.
Can't say that isn't a fun watch. I'd love to have one just for the hell of it. Great history...had no idea of that electric movement story. Always learning something new here. great episode..
I have the hamilton ventura Elvis 80,mine has lume, sapphire crystal, and is Swiss made and stamped in the inside of case and has a beautiful brushed steel case
Cool watch & interesting video! Seiko had a similar movement in the early 1970s in their Elnix series of watches. These were known as Electronic Balance watches & the balance wheel was driven by an electric motor which then drove the chain of gears to move the hands, so the opposite way round to a Mechanical watch. Pretty good movements though, had 16 jewels & beat at 28,800 vph!
With No Lume, No Sapphire Crystal, No “ Swiss Made " Inscription and a Quartz Movement?? $700. USD is a bit much realistically speaking. Cool piece tho 👌🏽
That's the best looking watch face I've ever seen. However, I can't stand the gaudy silver wings that extend out from it. It ruins it for me. Everytime I see it, I want to slice off those wings. 😊
Ideal for someone who owns a black suit. Massively overpriced considering it's a quartz movement, it's not got a sapphire crystal, no date, and no lume. Without the history and the Elvis & MIB connections, it's a $50 watch.
I bought one about 10 years ago. I wear it on special occasions. It’s very comfortable but those outer wings have very sharp points.

WOW! VERY VERY NICE! Awesome timepiece you got there! Well done Sir!

Yes I find the transition period from mechanical to quartz an interesting tale and transitional pieces like this with history are just awesome!

Really awesome video! Been learning about electric watches and your description a lot easier to follow than most!
Thanks for watching 👍

Thanks for sharing and value add. Very Interesting!
@@EscapementWatch You're welcome!
i m always waiting for a new electric movement like the original 500/505
I have 2 Ventura watches Xxl and Skeleton .... great design and very recognizable.
When you wear that Watch , is says you are a member of MIB. Men In Black . Just like Will Smith hehehe
Pretty cool, I was eyeing that too
I feel it is better suited towards the left wrist. It looks a little awkward on the right.
I was going to say, you need to show us how it looks on the left wrist
I bought this and I love it to death but all my friends and family hate it 😢😢
haha forget them! only thing that matters is if you like your watch!
@@EscapementWatch Best looking watch ever! Except for one thing... The guady wings. It just ruins it for me. I want one with no wings so badly. 😊
@@oldiesgeek454 they blend in more on the one with the metal flexible band.
then the watch serves its purpose!! wear it with pride.
Not necessarily flamboyant Or you could just wear a black suit and tie and white shirt . Looks awesome 👽
This is a fun looking watch. What's the ref no.?
H24411732 I believe! but there are sooo many different ventura's many sizes.
@@EscapementWatch ya, those that l have seen before were big. I didn't see this size before. I like it. Very cool.
is that the H24411732, there are two versions
yes thats the one
@@EscapementWatch cool , thanks
Some may know of Elvis Presley!
Can't believe these don't have sapphire
True
They do make one it’s 2007 50th anniversary. Model # H244510
I think the first one is bulova
No. 1957 vs 1960
I purchased mine in 97 just after the first mib. Mine is gold with brown band. Love it.

that's fair.
Where’s it made?
These are weirdly expensive- definitely a better buy on the second hand market.

The Pacer is basically the same watch face, without the wings.

Where is it made?
No pallet fork or escapement?
Nice watch, but not worth of 700$ for sure!
