Do you think it's ok for Monique to make accusations about Tyler Perry and Oprah based on what she thinks but not have actual evidence that supports the fact that they black balled her? She didn't offer up any evidence that they did anything wrong, and there are other people who have come out and said in public that they had no interest in working with her. Why didn't she go after them? Monique has been in the business for a really long time. I just think that she made her own bed when it comes to her reputation. As for the situation with her brother - Monique herself said that she and Oprah had spoken about having her brother on the show, and Monique was in agreement with that. What she disagreed with was the fact that Oprah invited her mother on the show when she didn't know about that. In my opinion, I always felt that if I was Oprah and I asked if it was ok to have your brother on the show and you said. Yes, I probably would never have thought that you would have had an issue with having your mother on. I just think that, like with everything else, Monique made a bigger issue out of something that she could have resolved and then moved on from. To me, it just speaks to who she is and her character.
Oprah wants to receive credit and praise for anything positive associated with the film, but wants absolutely no association with any negativity or criticism of it
@javiruiz8365 she so difficult that they couldn't tell why she was difficult that was lie and lee daniels said that he let Hollywood come between him and his friend instead of having her back they good now Mo didn't do anything wrong she stood up for herself if being call difficult for standing up for yourself than call her that.
She destroyed her own career when she didn't get what she assumed she should get.. She thought after winning the Oscar that her career and asking price would soar and when that didn't happen she started blaming others and acting out like a child.. Winning an Oscar only proves that you did an amazing acting job for that year, it doesn't make you a box office success nor does it automatically mean you will be paid millions for future projects.. So many White actors/actresses have won Oscars and these people just vanished after winning.. The struggle is real even with White talent.. You honestly think that every White actress gets equal pay and that their careers are equal? So many people are working for pennies on the dollars and the public just assumes these people are being paid millions..
I love the grace Mo'nique shows to Taraji during her time of need even though nobody reached out or was on her side when she brought this to everyone's attention years ago..she could've been on some "I told you so" type shit, but she handled this so professionally and empathetically, shout out to her 💜💜💜
When she was talking about being blackballed, I thought she was just mad about the situation with Oprah and Tyler and it would blow over. Haven’t heard from Monique in years. They did her wrong. Katt Williams exposing everybody. Every one is circling back now.
Monique accepted that amount of money and never complained about it. Versus Taraji who accepted her money then complained which was the wrong thing to do. I don't care for Monique but she handled that perfectly.
This is the year of Monique and Kat Williams getting JUSTICE! 2024 needs to be the year where good people win. I’m tired of society uplifting and giving a pass to shitty people in the industry. Support and uplift DECENT people!
Growing up I used to think Oprah was such a philanthropist and role model. But, as I learned more and saw the shady and outright horrible things that she has said/done/been apart of; I question everything about her highly curated image. The abuse going on in her all girls school in Africa she founded, the offensive/invasive questions she asked people in her interviews, the amount of "private land" she owns in Hawaii, Harvey Weinstein, gatekeeping in Hollywood, and sadly the list goes on. Monique, Viola Davis, and so many others continue to speak out against the disparity and pay inequity for black actress and I stand with them.
Most of us knew in the 90s just based off watching the Oprah show. We could tell the difference between how she treated her black guests vs her white guests. None of this surprises me.

I don’t understand why you have all this smoke for Orprah and not the other directors, film studios, or Warner Bros. I do agree, she like most people have done shady things, but in this regard she shouldn’t be the only one getting flack; especially since the actresses in TCP mentioned Oprah fixed their problems once she was aware of them
If you believe Oprah didn’t know about the conditions the actors were in, stop it, just stop it. This is a woman that is so involved in her productions that she said She personally signs all checks herself. She knew how many trailers, the type, and the costs along with all other budgetary concerns. She has to because what is left after all of those expenses is profit and she has her eye on profit.
Do you really believe that Oprah if this were a Harpo Studios production wouldn't roll out the red carpet for these folks? Come on let's be realistic Oprah is there for her name and promotion. She is not pouring over every detail. That is why she told Taraji and others if they needed anything to let her know. It seems like everyone is scared to address the powerful white men who are at fault and attacking the one black woman because they can get away with it. Oprah isn’t a victim, but in THIS particular case the reaction towards her is underserved. There are 3 other rich producers that are a part of production that should be called out if everyone is going to harass her, not to mention the studio that is actually to blame.

So proud of Mo'nique. It's not easy to stand up for what's right when everyone is telling you you're wrong, and she did it well. Get this woman her royalties she deserves
What gave u this impression? The fact that she was besties with Harvey Weinstein for 25 years, or the fact she publicly endorsed the healing powers of John of God, the serial pedophile and sex trafficker?
1 RESPECTFUL correction: Mo’Nique in fact did promotion for the movie Precious. However when TP and OW came on as producers the film blew up and they then needed promotion overseas bc it now had that reach. Mo’Nique did fulfill her contractual obligations. The role of the producer in film, is literally to make sure things like casting, directing, finances, and marketing are all taken care of. I agree with Monique: how could you not have known about the conditions of your set?
@@marshmallowproject-s1k even so, I find it hard to believe that she would not have known before hand, how the set of the film was. I just don’t believe that she wouldn’t have known, and nobody would have touched base with her. Oprah Winfrey, one of the most powerful women in the world and the entertainment industry, somehow would know nothing as one of the producers of a film that she helped create? On what day?
I think all the producers should be called out equally. Oprah was one of the producers but not the only producer. Black hound fellow black, but give white a free pass. There is no way that could be all Oprah’s fault
This shows Monique’s heart because when she was hurting not one of them came to her defense. Now look at her defending them without holding a grudge. Thats the true definition of a woman that supports woman 👏🏽

Mo was 1000% correct!! Everything she said was ACTUALLY ADVOCATING for black women in the industry! Why is it that we have to call and make arrangements for the bare minimum & being treated with respect in the workspace when they already know how much of an asset these workers are to the production? If you know you can’t produce great work WITHOUT YOUR WORKERS, why not treat them as gold??? I resonate even in my 9-5 so as actors on million dollar sets getting paid scrap change i completely understand🤷🏾♀️ Oprah you have billions. Billionaires also feed communities McDonalds, so what are you saying? Billionaires care about income. They will forecast the projected revenue and decide how much to spend. This is about how people view white Americans and the racial bias we face even when we are super talented.
I've always stood with Mo'nique. Her story has been consistent since and not one person has challenged it. I feel terrible that the actors and actresses were treated that way, and yes a part of that is on the studio. But as a Black woman, Oprah should have made sure certain things were up to par. We know that other groups don't think twice about us, but we expect others who look like us to!
I will respect Monique when she calls out a white man. No one cares when we attack each other. There are powerful people in the studios that Monique have not named.
Oprah didn’t become a billionaire businesswoman by being naive and disinterested. Oprah is shrewd, calculating and hands on. There’s no way she didn’t know every detail and every move during the making of this movie.

I do kinda agree with Monique, Oprah is worth nearly 3 billion dollars. She has great wealth and power and the least she can so is make sure the black actors and actresses are taken cared of on the movie that she’s producing… from the start. You know what the point of having black billionaire and multimillionaires like Beyonce, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Oprah, Tyler Perry and Kayne if their black employess arent being treated fairley and still struggling out here. 😏

Why you didn't lead with Oprah really helped us and advocated for us. Why you overshadowing the star Fantasia. This her time to shine and you got everybody crying for you. But I digress
Honestly..they should've left this classic in the archives! This movie didn't need to be remade, there's an energy & aura that comes along with movies created during certain Era's. They could've done an Anniversary event, however I wish they'd leave the classics alone. We don't need to highlight the struggles & trauma's of Bw, because we're not experiencing what our female Ancestors have experienced. And it's becoming offensive imo, trying to replicate/walk in the shoes of those female Ancestors. We can HONOR them, yet walk in their shoes? Never!
As an ED, one of the first things asked is who is attached to the project. Who's above the line...therefore, to say you do not know how much one is being paid especially headliners is not being honest. People above the line has a strong influence in this regards. O could have easily said I'm not doing if a,b & c is not attached to this project or if said actress is not getting paid said amount....fill in the blank she has pull. In addition, Steven and Quincy has pull as well "IF" they chose to speak out.
Producers in music is not the same concept. The music producers are only in charge of the production of the music. Managers/labels have more power in this regard as they oversee payments to producers /composers/writers/ the musicians teams/distributor etc. In film and TV the producer is the manager. The financer is the boss. The producer in this regard over sees all positions, from hiring crew for preproduction (writers, researchers) to production (actors, camera and sound crew, catering) all the way through post production (editors to distributors). So they hire everyone and have the final say over finances with the financers(investors).
@@TheLastDrinkZA I think you’re thinking more of a record-producer. In music, Executive producers oversee all of those same things. They set up studio time/spaces, oversee production budgets, set-up writing sessions/camps, facilitate collaborations with other artists, writers, record-producers etc., and source funding to make it all happen. Many labels have artists music creating processes overseen by an executive producer, which is different from a record-producer who solely does audio production.

Why hasn’t Warner Brothers and the other producers stepped up and said WE made a mistake. Oprah shouldn’t be the only one held accountable for the mistreatment of the actors on this film
Because Black ppl only yelling at Oprah so why should they take the heat when the Black woman is taking it? The sad part movie studios and producers are going to use Taraji unprofessionalism to not invest in black movies

If you’re considered a producer and/if you’re a person of prestige who agreed to even be associated with a project, it is your responsibility to make sure anything attached to your name is about quality all throughout. I honestly believe once Oprah got to a certain level in her career, she stopped giving a damn about her own people. If you remember when she had her talk show back in the day she was giving away all these cars to her audience & all kinds of gifts helping out, but nobody paid attention that her audience was predominantly "white", which that's fine, but people are so use to doing things for so long that they miss the point on the actual problem of what's going on, so she feels she don't need to use her power to advocate for her own people, which I think it's sad because that's how most changes can get done when you protect & advocate for the people who are less fortunate that you. You are our voice when you are a person of color with alot of money! They know they can move mountains & choose not to!
I am proud of both Monique and Taraji for being brave enough to speak out against the mistreatment and downright racism concerning our Black Queens. I believe Monique hasn't said what many are saying about her being one of the only ones to speak out prior to now because she has ALWAYS seen the bigger picture. Which is when we all start to get it, then we ALL can get our things. So yall stop causing division, especially when some of yall have all kinds of mess and chaos going on against our Queens in your own jobs and aint parted not one lip to speak about anything, but have so much to say about the timing of someone else doing so. Please stop. Just cheer these ladies and anyone else brave enough to do so, on!
This!!! I want to underscore that many people in the comments don’t have the guts to do what Monique or Taraji have done- yet they are flapping their gums to sow the seed of division. It’s because they couldn’t hack it In their personal lives, they think they can tell someone how to discuss their grievances… I have had this experience, being the only BW on a team with others who just sit and accept abu$e, but when I spoke up- they tried to tell me I was rocking the boat! After I left for another opportunity, things got WORSE and they started calling me to talk about how hard it was on the job! It is a cycle, and the inaction /silence of your friends/associates will show you that you must advocate for yourself always. Even in the face of fear
People are asking “where was everyone when Monique spoke before”. I noticed 2 issues: 1st issue is when Monique spoke, people were not looking at the “overall” issue that “all black women are being underpaid”. They were soooo focused on just Monique. Her individual worth, her resume, “When’s the last time you seen Monique in a movie”. The message was completely missed. The 2nd issue was just as Monique said before, the world & other black actresses were too scared and not ready to stand up against major producers and production companies. Looking back, Oprah, T. Perry, and Lee D. were ON TOP back then. Majority of these actors get their money from them. You don’t make a change until you are sick and tired, and now the industry is catching up because they are just now getting sick and tired. Monique has been in the game longer than a lot of them, so it does make sense that she was sick and tired much earlier on. I’m not mad no one spoke up with Monique, because now the issue is being addressed again. The black community has another chance to fight and make it right. I really hope this time we do it right. Stand TOGETHER and fight. Just like Gabrielle Union tweeted. “Help us or get out of the way!!”.
Let's be honest, Monique made the issue a HER issue, Taraji makes the issues an INDUSTRY issue they both will get more support if they made this an American issue. All black women in all industries face this.
I feel some type of way about the fact that most people are focusing on Oprah and what black women werent there for who more than they're focusing on the studio executives that know better. They need to be called out the most. This issue goes beyond Oprah.
FYI, Producers of a project means, they had input on the movie. Certain lines or scenes were added or taken out the movie. Executive Producers are the people that fund the project.
Not always Sometimes certain people are credited as producers for contractual reasons on projects The producers of the first Buffy the vampire slayer movie were credited on the tv series but had no involvement at all on it A producer might also just mean providing funding The executive producer is however the person who runs the actual tv show or movie And most of the time for films that power can be with the director too The comparison with 50 cent might be off because 50 cent owns the Power franchise as both creator and producer ( he has the same pull as Tyler Perry to actually intervene ) Oprah didn't create the Color Purple neither does she own the IP Warner bros does , so her power would be limited in this particular case She has some power but not the power people think she has
@@shippendales8543that’s what people seem to don’t understand. People just want the drama and they want to blame Oprah. I don’t like Oprah, but come on.
@shippendales8543 True not always, but in most cases, they do. Especially a person with such "pull" as O. That's why I mentioned pull. She might not have the power to get things done, but if she says I want things to go this way or that way, folks will listen. That's why TP went to O. She has the "pull" to make it happen regardless of her power. Like having drivers, food in trailers, better trailers, security, etc.
I mean to be fair any producer wouldn’t like how she handled this. I wouldn’t hire Taraji after this. If you think other producers aren’t watching how she is handling herself yall crazy. And I’m sure Tyler Perry done with her too.
Oprah got tired of Taraji putting this grievance out during the promotion. I see how she went from putting her arms all around Taraji to putting her arms all around Fantasia and the other lady all chummy chummy.
Tired of this story. Can Taraji take accountability too, that her management sucked? Why are you setting foot on a set before all your demands are met, signed and sealed in ink? Makes no sense. Oprah is not an angel, but this sounds like an opportunity to hate her has arrived.why isn't the studio being held accountable? Sounds like a witch hunt until the next one.
And it is taking shine from the other actors. Love Taraji. Should have waited until after awards season is anybody mentioning Fantasia was nominated for Golden Globe? Not many because all we can talk about is this.
She did that's why she fired her hold team stop being simple minded and hearing only bits and pieces just to comment I hate when people do that she did take accountability still doesn't change when they trying to low ball you by not paying you your worth
@@wandaerving3065 you're the simple minded one, personally attacking me on behalf of someone who doesn't pay you. Following her story, her old team was fired a while ago, so before getting onto this new project her new team should have looked out for her. Next time get your point across without being crass.
I grewup watching Oprah with my mom in Uganda and i used to point out to my mom how she was continuously rude to her guests. She never seemed as a warm person to me and honestly i was shocked ho many times shes been called out but the very same black community covered her
Glad you mentioned this. Did you also noticed how in the later years of the show, when Oprah would talk to guests about their s3xual abu$e, that she would try to convince them that it must have been confusing because “it felt good”. She kept pushing this narrative , that children get confused because of the feeling- I can remember being so disgusted and flabbergasted. Given that she herself had an awful childhood, why would she say something like that! If you watch some of her older episodes you can see exactly what I mean. She would be debating with guests about their abu$e! My goodness I stopped watching her in that time because it spooked me out
@@Luver4lyfeWell..the truth is some sexually abused children, whom began being violated at very young ages actually do go through stages of "enjoying", not the abuse per se.. But the sex, ik it's a difficult concept to grasp yet it a factual one. I took interest in Early Childhood Development, and there I learned many things about the Psychology of Humans starting from birth. What you're speaking of is the grooming process! Predators are conscious enough to know that, if you start grooming the child before the ages of 3 there's a chance that child, will become attached to their abuser. It's ALOT to take in, and it's an EXTREMELY uncomfortable yet REAL issue/topic. Once the sexual chakra is activated, even prematurely you're risking creating a very promiscuous/sexually charged child. Oprah should've had a Psychiatrist explain this, as oppose to making such broad general statements that could be misconstrued.
When I was young, I use to view Oprah in a positive light. She was presented as always doing good & helping ppl. Over the years, more & more shady information has come out about her and it’s adding up. I believe Taraji & Monique. I have heard several times that women are on the bottom in Hollywood. Our women are treated like nothing. It’s terrible. I am glad they are speaking up.

The definition of a producer : 1. A person, company, or country that makes, grows, or supplies goods or commodities for sale. 2. A person responsible for the financial and managerial aspects of the making of a film or broadcast or for staging a play, opera, etc.
Oprah knows exactly what’s going on , she likes to say “I heard” so if you did hear something why not intervene before this get out of hand then you’re “fixing it” to save face. I have been team Mo’Nique since the day she called those individuals out smh it’s sad
Huh? Taraji called Oprah everytime there was a problem and Oprah fixed it. It seems like y’all mad Oprah regardless. The sad part about all of this cuz Taraji handled this wrong nobody will probably hire her.
For a producer who earns a nice cut of the box office, Oprah has lots of incentive 💰 to keep costs down. Add to that is the coldness of it all. She handpicked these legends … but never cared to ask about their work conditions. Damn damn damn.
Oprah knew dam well. She dropped the ball as a producer. Where was her checklist to ensure that the actors had trailers, food and drivers to get to work. She NEVER expected to be exposed because of who she is. Sis got caught. Case closed.
There are a total of 18 producers on this project, 12 of whom are executive producers(Alice Walker included) Oprah is not one of them. She is a producer along with Spielberg, Quincy Jones and a few others, yet the black woman and not the studio is catching all the smoke. Just admit that y’all have had an ax to grind with her for years now and are jumping on this hate train because it’s easy. This is bizarre.

When she was talking about being blackballed, I thought she was just mad about the situation with Oprah and Tyler and it would blow over. Haven’t heard from Monique in years. They did her wrong. Katt Williams exposing everybody. Every one is circling back now.
It is hard to fathom that Monique was only paid $50,000 for her role in the movie Precious. She was phenomenal in that movie.
Well she was

And that movie went on to make over 100 million

This is a woman that is so involved in her productions that she said She personally signs all checks herself. Do you really believe that Oprah if this were a Harpo Studios production wouldn't roll out the red carpet for these folks? Come on let's be realistic Oprah is there for her name and promotion. It's how one shuts someone DOWN, say they are "difficult to work with" or "crazy." It's dismissive and it is highly effective. I'm glad all of this is coming to light, so those that orchestrated those manipulative tactics into play, can suffer the consequences of the truth coming into the narrative.
But the way Taraji handled all of this was problematic and unprofessional. She could have waited till after the movie premiere. Margot Robbie didn’t join the writers strike until after the Barbie box office numbers came in. Why she didn’t want the negativity affecting the movie and afterwards she did all her interviews about the strike and even joined the march
@@AppleBloom21 Margot Robbie is a WHITE female actress, so it's not really "apples to apples", if one can say so. It is NOT.
Yes, SAG is the Actors Union, yes they handle issues, and YES, they were dealing with all sorts of levels of what will inevitably, if not now, be the future, ex. Generative AI doing some things to CUT INTO and impact PAY, BUT and HOWEVER, this has been an ONGOING issue- BLACKNESS in HOLLYWOOD and HOW it is HANDLED, and what was "going on" behind the scenes ON SET of Color Purple, must've been happening one right after each other, IN A WAY, that the question TARAJI was ASKED, triggered. That's what YOUR COMMENT and SEVERAL are MISSING the component OF.
You don't have to be filled with EMPATHY, for Taraji or anybody of COLOR, let alone Blackness to really SEE why this wasn't about "being a SHIDSTARTER." Black women or even men, have been CAGED into all kinds of "can't win" situations, where the conditions are damn near SABOTAGEY in the FIRST PLACE, and then if YOU complain or have your agent complain, you are "being difficult."
What THIS WOMAN SAID and SHE SAID what she SAID is, basically, she has "paid HER DUES", literally (Screen Actors Guild ahem SAG union dues) and LITERAL CRAFT as in HUMANITIES dues, as an actress to not BY THIS year- of ALL the years, ADDED up that she has BEEN and REMAINED an actress, be STILL "struggling" to be HANDLED the way EVEN J LO more than likely would not have had been treated LIKE THIS.
The presumption by Warner Brothers TOBI EMERICK (the name that Oprah named on the Red Carpet dropped the ball essentially) would NOT have come at J LO with this BS about rental cars, change naked in front of each other for "dressing rooms", oh well to no food, etc. THIS was NEGLECTFUL to the cast- an ALL BLACK one, where there were NO RUMBLINGS of this BS on the THE BLACK PANTHER production, so this ISHis Tobi Emerick's BIASED ass's FAULT. If OPRAH has to CALL YOU, because someone from set- had to CALL her, then YOU DROPPED the BALL, or FUMBLED the ball. Periodt.
Taraji was caught off guard and WAS CRYING- the whole word SAW that ISH. That was VULNERABILITY in play, witnessed by everyone, that wasn't an UNAWARENESS that there was a CONTRACTURAL obligation to fulfill for PRESS, PROMOTION of a movie that everyone did WRAP UP and DID. This was what EVERYONE saw, so your point has SEVERAL blindspots TO THAT MAIN POINT, let alone the REST. AHEM- MARGOT ROBBIE literally PLAYED the APEX of EUROPEAN BEAUTY STANDARDS lmaoooooooooo, LIKE MAKE MY POINT without "making MY Point!"
MARGOT ROBBIE has white privileges, as a WHITE, ALABASTER complexion FEMALE actress playing a standard, that you REFERENCED for an EXAMPLE rather. IRONICALLY, of BEAUTY that in REAL LIFE, MATTEL didn't even MAKE black Barbie dolls at first!!!
Margot was actually a type of producer in that movie, so it really and definitely is NOT comparable, playing a role of a White doll that was the EPITOME of how beauty is regarded and perceived in American politics.
Even the ICONIC Josephine Baker couldn't "stay here" (in America) because of how "UNPRETTY" and UNDESERVING they wanted her Black ass to FEEL LIKE and STAY mentally OPPRESSED UNDER.
If you wanna be myopic, with your viewpoint, go ahead, BUT DON'T DRAG ANYBODY ELSE with you into POPPYCOCK. Your view point is OVERSIMPLISTIC ABOUT THIS MATTER and YOU KNOW IT.

You literally standing on business, WHERE the "BUSINESS" has BEEN and arguably REMAINS SUPPRESSING, ALIENATING, MARGINALIZING, GASLIGHTING, INFERIORIZING Black TALENT in HOLLYWOOD. If that's not a psychological attack to SYSTEMATICALLY mistreat or mishandle Blackness on set, NO LESS an ALL BLACK CAST for a production called COLOR PURPLE, THEN no one KNOWS wtf IS. The crying was a release, it wasn't planned, that YOU KNOW or COULD PROVE so folks gotta take THAT, what happened, at face value. Period.
Love HOW you or ANYONE may have the nerve to point at Taraji but YOU haven't FOUND or HELD Tobi Emerick of Warner Brothers EXECUTIVE status, to even HALF the ACCOUNTABILITY, for the F SHOW this turned INTO.
Some of y'all wanna find Oprah's face to PIN it ON, when she done already messed around on a WHOLE RED CARPET and told y'all a man (he's probably NOT Black) named Tobi Emerick, SAID to her "then we would have to get everyone drivers" like AS IF, for a $100+ Million production, and ALL EYES ON THEM, that should be an issue. THAT'S WHO you should name as the ONE that F UP the commas and the press release, TOBI EMERICK.
It's attitudes LIKE YOURS, this comment YOU MADE that Taraji did this, did that to the production press release, that KEEPS the STATUS QUO, PERPETUATES ILL ISH, and REINFORCES DOUBLE STANDARDS. Get over it, the ISH couldn't have "waited" until AFTER the press release, BECAUSE the TEARS Taraji CRIED on LIVE TV couldn't wait UNTIL AFTER ANYTHING!!!
YOU would do WELL to REMEMBER THAT, and anybody ELSE that has this same MYOPIC and willfully ignorant comment towards what was so OBVIOUS of an issue that "brimmed to the top."
UM, it's been OVERDUE to be addressed and SOLVED, and NEXT TIME, Hollywood shouldn't continue to be comfortable making Blacks inferior!
Next time Hollywood shouldn't try to gather together an ALL BLACK CAST that behind the scenes they are negatively impacting, psychologically messing with DISPARATE treatment, and disrespecting ALL the years they poured into acting.
Who's EXACTLY gonna " miss" this mistreatment and then "not supposed to say something" until this and that time??? You got Taraji F UP and you got the "year of our Lord: 2024" F up! Lmao enough is enough. That's what P Diddy said to the women, that's what this ignorant comment, comparing "righteous movements" that a whole Barbie (Margot Robbie) made, to a BLACK FEMALE ACTRESS's PLIGHT on the set of a REMAKE NOBODY asked FOR anyway, meaning TREATMENT should've been EVEN more under pressure to be STELLAR, being ATTACHED to names like STEVEN SPIELBERG and OPRAH.
Warner Brothers STUDIO SHOULD BE getting ALL that ENERGY YOU or not others GOT FOR TARAJI! These bogs, content creators need to go ROOT out where TOBI EMERICK is, and PIN HIM to ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS!!! TOBI EMERICK. He's YOUR MAN, YOUR NAME, to "BLAME."
He's somewhere hiding, probably on his NEXT production, while you here "blaming" Taraji! STOP the BS.

Monique said that she could not do promotions outside of the country because she couldn't afford that because she wasn't compensated for promoting outside of the country she did however did promote within the states.
Exactly this TH-camr is Messy & shady. Mo didn't destroy box office sales like Tarji just did. Which is why it did so well she won an Oscar + swept all those awards during that season.
None of those people pay bLK people what they deserve! They want YT people to pay them. Them want to be the only ones with money
By doing what you're saying they will go from billionaires to millionaires to broke. Nobody becomes rich to help other in fact many people don't get rich because they help others.
I knew this was coming! All of this drama has really overshadowed what I thought would be such a cultural moment.
🤭🤭🤭
My thoughts exactly. Now if I were negative like a lot of these folks I would drag Taraji. Girl why you saying all this now when everything was fixed for you?
Never!
I agree
As an ED, one of the first things asked is who is attached to the project. Who's above the line...therefore, to say you do not know how much one is being paid especially headliners is not being honest. People above the line has a strong influence in this regards. O could have easily said I'm not doing if a,b & c is not attached to this project or if said actress is not getting paid said amount....fill in the blank she has pull. In addition, Steven and Quincy has pull as well "IF" they chose to speak out.
Love Monique for standing up for what’s right
Yes, producers have the power over actors finances. They are basically the overseers. Same thing with the music industry.
@@TheLastDrinkZAthats not what an Executive producer does. That's a line producer.
I appreciate the points of clarity and correction. ❤️🤗
Monique always kept it real for years
Yup. Monique is going to be just fine. 🙏
She's aware she's an actress herself. She was hoping they would just be humble and not say anything, because us black folks should be happy to get any opportunity without question.
It's easier to do the black on black crime than figure out the real truth
The same reason why Taraji has been mistreated so long but she waits until it’s a black produced film to complain. It’s like our people keep it cute for the whites because they don’t want to step on any toes.

Hearing what Gabrielle said about how Hollywood's work, remained me of Sofia Vergara. A couple days ago she was doing an interview in Spain and she stated that studios are only interested in when they pitch ideas related to drug dealers and stuff, which is why she was able to bring her last project to the public, otherwise, their not interested on other problematic stuff happening in LatinAmerica.
I already knew Mo’Nique was going to speak out eventually regarding Taraji. Mo’Nique has been telling us for years and I believed her then and now.
I think Oprah, and others knew full well what was happening. Oprah had to act because they were "called out" on things. People need to be thanking Mo'Nique for talking about this many years ago. Mo'Nique is right about the women being treated very well if they were "hand-picked".
If you’re considered a producer and/if you’re a person of prestige who agreed to even be associated with a project, it is your responsibility to make sure anything attached to your name is about quality all throughout. What we have to look at is Warner Bros trying to put pressure on Oprah to use her own money but this is why negotiations are a must
Don't executive producers just provide the money.
@@beyourself2444They provide the money and work on the financial parts like talent, marketing, things needed for the film and talent. Now, the DIRECTOR, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, and LINE PRODUCERS should've been notified of the issues first and THEY should've handled everything. I completely agree with Monique. All that stuff should have been taken care of before they got to the set. Why is the ball always dropped when it comes to us! Unacceptable
There is NO WAY this abuse and lack-of-support happened without Oprah knowing in my opinion.
Just NO WAY! If you ask me, Oprah agreed to low balling them every which way, because she was going to try to use her aging cache to make these women fill “honored” to be working with her.

Oprah is a media mogul who has been in this industry for decades. She knows about the inequities as well. For this project and all the artists associated with it, the buck stops with her. Period
Thats not true. Oprah is older than all of them, as a woman who was often overweight Im sure her success was not easy. Usually the older generation thinks that young generation is soft. Do you think Gladys knight would sympathize with someone like Chloe Bailey about how hard the music industry is? No, Gladys would be like girl please, have you ever sung in front of segregated audience? I am not saying that invalidating someone's experience is right, just highlighting what normally takes place.
Although Oprah partly responsible I don't think its solely her fault, the WB studio needs to be held accountable too. And these are examples that things like this will continue to happen when we dont build our own enterprises and constantly putting ourselves in a industry that never cared for Black people.
Oh Oprah gets most of the blame, she is the producer she is the one who runs shit, she didn't get to where she is not being so hands on with everything.

I pray whoever eyes see this comment God gives you the strength to over come every battle you're facing.♥️✨️

Is Tyler Perry and lee daniels and Oprah racist?
💯
This!!! I want to underscore that many people in the comments don’t have the guts to do what Monique or Taraji have done- yet they are flapping their gums to sow the seed of division. It’s because they couldn’t hack it In their personal lives, they think they can tell someone how to discuss their grievances…
I have had this experience, being the only BW on a team with others who just sit and accept abu$e, but when I spoke up- they tried to tell me I was rocking the boat!
Thank you so much for this ❤
THIS!!!
The black community need to fund their own movies.
The producer is the boss. How do you not know that they got the power & pull
Not always
Sometimes certain people are credited as producers for contractual reasons on projects
The producers of the first Buffy the vampire slayer movie were credited on the tv series but had no involvement at all on it
A producer might also just mean providing funding
The executive producer is however the person who runs the actual tv show or movie
And most of the time for films that power can be with the director too
The comparison with 50 cent might be off because 50 cent owns the Power franchise as both creator and producer ( he has the same pull as Tyler Perry to actually intervene )
Oprah didn't create the Color Purple neither does she own the IP Warner bros does , so her power would be limited in this particular case

Oprah should've had a Psychiatrist explain this, as oppose to making such broad general statements that could be misconstrued.

girl omg you took the words out my mouth this why i love scrolling through the comments!
I feel the same exact way😭 I love this channel so much she really does a great job at putting everything together and giving us receipts. She’s also very honest and doesn’t really do too much. I always look forward to her videos and I’m so glad that she brings us quality entertainment ❤️ and same I never really comment but after seeing this I had to let you know that you’re not the only one who feels this way 🥰
The problem is that, all this is gossip, so we are never too sure, whether to believe what she is saying.
FYI: Warner Brothers and Oprah should have secured production before the cast signed on; however, Oprah's influence might have had limitations during that critical moment. It seems like this was a well off unorganized production coming from a multi billion dollar company.🤔😑
I’ve never heard of people complaining about not having food and trailers on other movie sets. 🤔 I wonder why it happened on Color Purple?
This kinda reminds me of the Michael Jordan/Scottie Pippen fiasco.
