My mother was his nurse and took care of him in his final days. He is an incredible inspiration to me as a Lakota souix myself and hoping to one day be an operatic singer myself, no words can express how much White eagle means to me. R.I.P 🌹
White Eagle and I went to school together in Compton, California. I met him, in music class, when he walked into the room and asked if the try outs were still open for the top singing group which was a madrigal group, very small and very elite at Dominguez High School. The teacher, Mr. Larry Steele said they had just finished but invited him to try out. Wow! Our mouths dropped open as he sang "Mariah" from the musical Paint Your Wagon. Needless to say he was accepted. His anglo name was Mervyn Moore, but when he became famous he used his Native name. We had a lot in common and we were both Native Americans. We were paired together in duets for many recitals and also extracurricular performances off campus. We became very close friends and I went to his house often. I kept up our friendship through the years, but then I lost track of him. I found his family at the Lakota Souix Rosebud Reservation, in South Dakota, when visiting the University, and the White Eagle Academy. Unfortunately by the time I found the Moore family, White Eagle had passed onto his maker. I have remained close to family ever since.
So glad we finally can hear him again .... after his apperences stopped at the Crystal Cathedral we never heard from him again or how to find his songs.
White Eagle (I knew him from the 70's as Merv Moore when he sang for Derric Johnson's Re'Generation) was a dear friend of many years and I kept up with him until he died. His spectacular voice stands out, and always will, as one of the finest tenors I've ever heard. He was just as wonderful in person - and was a magnificent person and child of God - who touched countless lives with his amazing voice and testimony. I miss him, as his life was cut so tragically short, but his voice lives on and continues to reach out to all who love our Savior! This hour with him is incredible, and I'm sure your life will be touched by these magnificent songs! Rest in God's peace, my friend! You are terribly missed - and thanks beyond measure for your presence in my life! I shall always treasure our wonderful friendship!
We were at the Church of Today in Warren, Michigan at the book store and saw a sign White Eagle would be performing that night. We waited and it was a night of an experience that I can't tell you how much we enjoyed. He was amazing and such magnetism in person!
I never had the pleasure of meeting White Eagle. He went to heaven before I met and became very close friends with his younger brother. Robert (who has joined his brother in heaven), was also blessed with an incredible voice. I had the honor and pleasure of singing with him on many occasions. And he supplied me with videos of White Eagle, that I have enjoyed over and over again.
I met White Eagle in the Spring of 1994 when he appeared as the Guest Artist with the Omaha Symphony. I was President of The Board of Directors of The Omaha Symphonic Chorus at the time, and our chorus was performing with the Omaha Symphony for a Patriotic Concert featuring White Eagle. It was lovely to meet this brilliantly talented man, let alone perform with him. That concert is so memorable for me, and I have nothing but gratitude for the opportunity to have been part of the Chorus that sang with White Eagle when he was a guest artist with the Omaha Symphony.
I Got the privilege of working with White Eagle in 1984 on some recording sessions. He was a good friend who had a great sense of humor and I had a blast making him laugh before each take. So sorry to learn of his passing so early, but this is a wonderful tribute to his character. One of my favorite hymns at 45:24 & it's wonderful to hear him sing it!
one of the greatest voices ever created by GOD. We were fortunate to have been able to watch him in person on several occasions. greatly miss his stage presence. RIP, White Eagle!!!
I was fortunate to have met white eagle in South Dakota at his latest father's church hearing him sing again makes anything you really remember going through bearable fly high white eagle.
I feel so incredibly blessed to be watching and listening to White Eagle. The sheer joy and love he emits while singing is awesomely powerful! I am thrilled we are still blessed with it by this video. I think White Eagle is greatly awed and humbled that he is still touching so many lives through this video. Thank you so very much for sharing this incredible blessing of God's servant!
Thanks for sharing this so we can continue to be blessed by the artistry of White Eagle. His interpretations were so worshipful and added so much to the Crystal Cathedral services! Thank God for his inspiring talent!
Thanks for posting this. He sang at Church of Today years ago and I have been looking for his songs for a while here on TH-cam. I have a few of him singing on VHS from when he was at Church of Today in Warren, MI. I saw him a few weeks before his passed and I let him know how much I appreciated him and his voice.
I saw him several times at the church while I was 17-18. Jack Boland is even referenced in this video. I got to meet White Eagle ("You can call me 'White Eagle' or just 'Eagle' but never call me 'White' ") once. I had long black hair then and his father came up to me and said he liked it a lot. He then introduced me to his son. My mom was a huge fan so she fangirled at the time. He was truly very nice.
I too enjoyed White Eagle at the Crystal Cathedral and on Hour of Power and he was always soul touching. This video made me cry to think he left us far too soon. I too would like to know if there are any recordings other than VHS available. Thank you Gregg for sharing this wonderful talent again with us. Claudia in Jacksonville, Fl

What a voice.
I met White Eagle on the Rosebud Rez. His dad was my Pastor in Mission. I was there when he went home to be with Jesus. I miss him and Pastor Moore.

Awesome thank you
17:37 Amazing Grace White Eagle’s version was my mom’s favorite.
Where can more videos be found? Or even just recordings of his singing?
