    I carry the HLX on duty, its an awesome light! I carry it with a 18650 and then I have a back up in my lunch box...havent needed the back up yet! I take the 18650 out every couple shifts and top it off just to be sure since I primarily work night shifts lol

    It's not that I like flashlights, I just really hate darkness. And darkness hates flashlights. It's an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" kinda thing.

    I own Maglights, both LED and incandescent bulbs, and I love them, but I have to keep adding and adding stuff to my duty belt so my 2-4 D cell Maglights have become a bit of a bother to carry. I bought the Streamlight HL-X because I needed something with high lumens, but small enough to save space on my duty belt or by having it in a pocket, since I work a lot at night and usually deep in the mountains and I absolutely love it. It's well constructed, the clip is so handy, I like the programmable modes, and the best part is that I always have an 18650 battery laying around since I have lots of vapes. I also use the HL-X as an edc light since it's actually not that big and when you clip it in your pocket you forgot it's even there. I highly recommend the HL-X. I'm definitely going to check out the TN36 because that thing is a beast!
    Flashlights get me excited too...

    I love my Streamlight protac HLX rifle light. Been running a lot of different olight products without any issues but people are always griping about my olights lol. The streamlight seems to be a great light as well. Mounted on a KP15 with Arisaka mlok scout mount

    I have carried the Protac HL for 1.5 years and the HL-X for the last 2 months (EVERYDAY). Only reason I upgraded was for the 18650 compatibility. Plus higher lumens from the X and deeper pocket clip. Its really hard to beat this light. I just ordered a Thyrm for mine.

    Great video dude. I love my Streamlight HL-X with the Panasonice ncr18650b batteries. I cannot find a light that can replace it. I buy and sell a lot of lights and always go back to Streamlight as they have a real lifetime warranty.

    Love your flashlight videos (and your videos in general). I EDC the thrunite C2 with a little USB cable in the sheath that comes with it and I love it. Its nice to charge my phone when I don't have a place to charge it and with my BLF A6 ($25, 18650, 1400-1600 lumen, unknown candela and lux). I've been wanting to pick up the HL-X Railmount for a while for my SBR as-well as the standard HL-X, but I'm not sure how that and my BLF A6 would compare (different reflector and larger head on the HL-X). My BLF A6 I use pretty much every day during my work and when my old black dog decides not to come in at night (13 acres in the middle of nowhere). I'd love to rock the TN36 though, but I can't see myself dropping that much cash on it.

    Great vid, I’ve had the the baton S1R as a primary for about a year or so. Reliability and efficiency is across the board in everything I’ve put it through. The only love/hate factor has been the length. Great at getting lost in the pocket and reducing bulk, but lacking in a full grip. Had a chance to check out the Olight M2R yet? I’ll be swapping over soon, but I’m think the addition of length and tail switch may satisfy my edc for a while. Keep up the awesome feed bud, and loving all the vehicle/truck carry/camping gear and reviews.

    One thing missing on both is being able to charge the batteries without having to remove them, find the charger, bla bla bla.

      It doesn't have as much utility as I'd want out of an EDC torch, but I'll probably pick one up at some point.

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know a ton about it, but isn't it only momentary - like you can't even turn it constant on?

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gotcha - okay so a little more 'everyday function' than I had thought. I'll give it some time on the market before dropping the coin. Basically every single one of the specs is below other comparable lights on the market, with fewer features, less candela, and higher price... If it has legendary Surefire reliability though, it could still be a contender - and obviously being made in the US is a huge plus as well.

    • @slumberpass
      @slumberpass 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Last Line Of Defense Surefire will be releasing the EDCL-2T (1200 lumens) and EDCL-1T (500 lumens) very soon as well. I think they will interest you more than the Tactician unless you prefer the pure flood beam of your XC1.

    Really like the HLX. I’m curious why you’d prefer it to let’s say a 1L-1AA for edc? I have the 1L and it’s such an easy carry light. The HLX seems better for hiking etc. Too big for ball cap application.
    I really love the multi power source. Lots of peace of mind.
    Peculiar question: if you happen to have a Protac 1L-1AA have you noticed if the HLX at 400 lumens setting is brighter than the 1L 350 lumens?

    @bernhard8540 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You actually get way more lumens out of the 18650 compared to the lithium 123 the only downside to 18650 batteries is there's no real drop off to let you know they are dying but that's not a big deal :)

  • @honda116969
    @honda116969 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a few different brands of lights from klarus, streamlight & thrunite. Thrunite seems to have the best price for a good quality streamlight their little bigger than the competition around the thousand lumens & seem to be more expensive, streamlight quality is good but so is the other light is it worth the extra money & bigger size? The thrunite tn12 1100 lumens 50 bucks take a look at that.

  • @LogicBob
    @LogicBob 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Next time you talk to Thrunite, please tell them they should make a new C2 (C3?) with a USB Type C port. Also supporting USB PD would be even better! I would love to see a version that takes two 18650s even.

    Some of these new 18650 FL require to use their own battery that offer High Discharge rate.
    I have a bunch of 3000mAh 18650 batteries that came with my other average lights, which I'm sure they're not high discharge battery.
    My question is, does this FL require Streamlight's own 18650 battery to reach to 1000 Lumens or can I use my own and still get to 1000 Lm?
    Thanks!

    When rechargable batteries die, do they die all at once, or do they get dim before dying?

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends more on the light than the battery - whether it is regulated or not. Some will fade off as the battery starts to drain, most will fade off of their brightest setting due to heat (unrelated to battery drain), and some will maintain a consistent output throughout the life of the battery until it is depleted too much.

    aside from the skeletool, what is a good budget knife for EDC? (id prefer open assist tanto style with a serrated blade and it has to have a pocket clip)

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm REALLY liking the Leek - amzn.to/2h4a0aV - not a tanto, but I really love the blade shape, it's made an america, and comes in tons of different colors/styles, serrated and not. It's extremely thin and great to carry. I think they range in price from around $35 up to almost $100, depending on the style - but $35 for a US made awesome knife is pretty incredible.
