This is a great addition and marketing tool from Starlink, but I totally agree with you that the data isn't near specific enough. Being Canadian, the fact that each Province is just one data point is hilarious. The majority of the population is along the southern border and it quickly drops off as you go north. The difference is massive in Provinces like Ontario, and we know here that those in more northern locations are getting way better speeds, though their latency can suffer a little due to being further away from ground stations or POP's, however, V2 sats should help mitigate that over time with laser links. Like you said, additional data like per County would be an obvious next step. It still wouldn't be as specific as some would like but it would be far more accurate and informative than what's being shown now.
I just received my new replacement router after a month of waiting. Replaced the router and cable that starlink sent me still no internet. I believe the issue is the dish. I have asked them to send me a complete new kit this time and to equip it with the gen 3 router hopefully
Good explanation, however, aren't the satellites in geosynchronous orbit meaning they are not moving relative to earth so they are travelling over 17,000 mph to keep up with the earths rotation and stay in orbit but they are not moving by our homes. So no hand-shake from one to another. Correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks J. I think I figured out why I'm not just paying more for my Starlink $198 amonth because I had to get my Starlink from and internet provide. Why I'm paying more than $120 amonth I am not sure. I still had to spend the money for the equipment. Because I wasn't able to get Starlink if I didn't go through this internet provider. I have no control over a lot of things on my app. There are somethings you can do that I can not. Wish I had a better way to provide you with more information. I will be calling them and asking then to change my location for Starlink to a Florida POP location and not Georgia.

They sell more equipment and start more contracts by keeping the data limited. If they showed the actual speeds by county they would lose sales in the slower areas. The more vague, the more hope people have that they will actually attain those higher speeds. That’s why you’ll find TONS of “used” starlink equipment for sale everywhere
