    Courtney and I set out to have as much fun as possible on Thursday- Day 5 of RAGBRAI! It was the day after our century day and we needed to let our bodies recover. We also had a mental list of all the places we passed all week and didn't stop. Today was the day!
    For the best of Ragbrai, we started out with matching shirts- Team Tuscan! We took advantage of our time stopping for treats before hitting up Nosh for breakfast. It is a popular food truck that followed the route each day. We had Mr. Pork Chop for lunch, a RAGBRAI classic and one of our favorite treats- Thelma's Ice Cream Sandwiches in the afternoon!
    Of course we hit up Tellurain Brewing in town. Courtney had it picked out weeks in advance and it was worth all of the anticipation. Hopefully this video gives you a better idea of what to expect on an average day of RAGBRAI!

    I started my full time travel journey at the start of 2020 when I quit my job. My plan was to travel the world, but my timing was horrible. I decided to stay closer to home and explore the US. That decision promoted me to build out my Ford Transit van and travel to every National Park! I've currently been to 52. Along the way I made it to all 50 states IN ONE YEAR! I can't believe it actually happened but from April of 2021 to April of 2022. Now its on to new crazy adventures!

      It was amazing to see more of Iowa! I loved looking at the rolling hills and would recommend people get of the interstate and explore more of the state! They were tough on the bike though 😂

    Next year should be epic you guys should check out Pork belly ventures and not deal with the ragbria truck/tent city or try to find a team, which is different from what you guys are doing.

    • @LauraOnTheMove
      @LauraOnTheMove  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We used Pork Belly to charter from Lansing to Sargeant bluff. They were great! I think their week long service would be a great way to do it especially when you count in dinner being provided each night!

    This is a great beginning to leading a healthy lifestyle. Use this as an inspiration to make better life choices including food choices. A myth about cycling is you need to eat every half hour. As you loose weight you will be more insulin sensitive and will have a less need/desire to eat when you exercise. Losing as little as 5%of your body weight will help you in tremendous ways and will help you go up the hills much easier on a bike. Most often you see overweight cyclists unlike runners who seem to be more health conscience. It seems that many cyclists love to eat and drink alcohol which explains their body structure. Remember even cyclists can become diabetic and have cholesterol induced Heart Attacks. Exercise with healthy diet goes along way to living a good and well balanced and healthy life. Cheers!

      This was all about the adventure. No goals of losing weight here! And zero needs to change any life style. Enjoy your journey!✌🏻

    Watching you videos from England here but really want to try RAGBRAI for 2023. What are your thoughts for next year ? Thought that far ahead, will it be RAGBRAI L or a new venture for next year ?

    • @LauraOnTheMove
      @LauraOnTheMove  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Next year is supposed to be a big party because it's the 50th! All of the regulars were already talking about it. It would be fun to go back, but there was something about going into the unknown each day that would be hard to duplicate doing it again! They have charters that will help pick you up from different locations or airports around the state plus help with shipping your bike if you fly in!!

  • @opheliamorrison7675
    @opheliamorrison7675 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    so much fun! Do they close down the roads so you guys can bike on them?

    • @LauraOnTheMove
      @LauraOnTheMove  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unofficially closed down. They are open to local traffic so there were some cars, but every intersection was staffed by state patrol or locals.

      If I remember correctly it was $175 per person to register for the full week. You could also choose to do just some of the days and pay per day!
