right on. I have the 29" six string baritone from SOLAR. I also use a 80 for my low string, F# standard, but can drop to E for a song here and there perhaps.
Maybe it was a slip of the tongue, but Jazzmasters don't have P-90s, they have Jazzmaster pickups which are a different design (wider, shorter bobbins) from P-90s. Also, Jazzmasters (even the vintage ones) had 1MOhm pots. Nice find and awesome tone.
Got mine new for 500 actually 250 with a trade in. No issues with strings bottoming out so im guessing the bridge issue was your problem. Could have maybe adjusted the string height? Anyways cool find. Going to be putting mine on the bench soon too. Mine has the standard crappy intonation issue and its muddy when tuned to E with 80 gauges.
Ive asked this question on other channels without an answer..can anyone help? So I inherited my dad's Jazzmaster and started to try learning how to play. I also got his Strat. Im getting an odd stereo effect in my headphones from the Jazzmaster on a clean channel(run through a Scarlett solo into my PC). It seems to be separating the higher strings notes from the lower ones. and there seems to be a tremolo effect as well on one side..is that normal? its not happening with the strat under the exact same settings(just switching out the cable from one guitar to the other).
I don't have a lot of experience with jazz master pickups, but that doesn't sound normal. Without stereo pickups and a stereo cable, there's no physical way to get stereo. A normal guitar cable is mono. As for the tremolo, there's nothing under the hood that would be causing that, and it's all passive, so no battery issue. Maybe it's just something with the bridge setup?
You could use it to track "bass", but it still has a different tone and thinner strings. I did record bass for the demo too, even though it's the same notes
That isn't a double drop, it's just drop E1. Drop shape, low E, 1st octave. Double drop would be EAeac#f# with the two lowest strings detuned a whole step. Mostly, you'd double drop an 8 for the AAL tuning EAEAdgbe.
