I think I'd take the s1000db in this shootout. The s2000 sounds too colored in the low-mid for rock. But I don't think I'm in love with either one. The swans are probably better. These aren't bad, they just sound boxy to my ears. Both sound to be lacking upper mid and lower mid. It doesn't help Sennheiser headphones (using hd600) also tend to lack in those areas if anywhere they are lacking as well.
I'm wondering which of the two to purchase for 1) producing/listening to rap music, 2) watching movies and 3) making symphonies and film scores? Am currently working with a Bose SLIII bluetooth speaker so an upgrade may be needed lol

So, I never thought it would sound so different, like the other models that look so similar (r1700, r1800 - r1900, r2000) and sound similar too, but this one took me by surprise, I think the S1000DB was better in this test and it is cheaper

Agreed, Amazon has is just 50.00 more currently. But specifications is much better than the 1000. The only way is test it at home to get the real sense of how they sound.
what would i do without you digital stereophony... Anyway, its a weird call for me... I often enjoy a pronounced treble, but the s2000pro seems so much richer... Bottom line is that i dont know if the price difference is worth it. I wish i had the money though :)
I think with bass and treble control adjustments you could make them sound exactly alike. The s2000 has a darker, bassier sound, could be good or bad depending who you ask.
Quick listened and noticed that s2000 though it's kind of recess in the mid, but sounds deeper than s1000. To me s2000 sound signature is more engaging , while s1000 sounds like average .
Thanks for this comparison. I've almost blindly bought s1000, but from this comparison I can hear at least that all songs are just falling apart on these. S2000 sound like they worth a try in shop.
Does the S2000pro have round bass or hard and tight / sharp bass? I don't care about sub-bass but I want the bass from 50 - 130 Hz to hit very hard but sharp & tight not round.

I have listened through my edifier pc boxes and to me the sound of the s1000 is more balanced than the s2000 which is more coloured and more (too much) on the foreground.

I bought the speakers (S2000) a few days ago. They sound really great, but I have problem with digital input - I cannot use sampling rate above 48 kHz. The sound is distorted with statics. I tried a different cable with the same result. According to the manual it should work up to 192 kHz. Could you check to set sampling rate above 48 kHz on digital optical input, please?

MattZildjian they’re worth it. Very good, clean, balanced sound. They have a surprising amount of bass when you’re sitting in its direction, really good bass, but when you get up and walk across the room, the bass is basically gone. I wanted something like this because I live in an apartment so it helps to not disturb my neighbors with the wall shaking bass. Being a bass head, I naturally turned the bass all the way up on the back, turned it up on my Spotify EQ, and set the speakers on dynamic; this turned out to be too much bass and it actually distorts, crackles and pops. But I took it too far. I turned the back knob down a 1/4 turn and I’ve had no distortion since then. Besides that, they are great for all kinds of music, I’ve found, and great for TV and movies too. My buddies that have $1k+ sound systems were really impressed. I’d say they’re worth it for the convenience aspect of not having to have an amp and receiver. Besides, they look great and are reasonably priced.

i would really like to know your opinion. Can you provide a brief analysis of this two speakers and tell us how do they sound in person ? Judging by videos, i prefer the s1000db because of similar low freq response but a much more open sound from the twitter. The s2000s sound very dark and chocked, more directional and with less sound stage. Among all the videos on your channel i think these edifiers have the most enjoyable bass, very punchy and tight. Unfortunately, on the bass test i can hear a clear ringing issue on the s1000db, that's disappointing :( . It seems like the woofer is loose or there are vibrations in the case, probably because of inferior build quality
I would very much like to know the answer to Kaede's question myself. I can't decide between these two (primarily for Netflix and gaming in medium sized living room) but I can't find good comparisons between the two. Also the S2000 Pro has been pull out of the market and they are fixing a design/manufacturing issue that's why it's out of stock everywhere. Should we wait for the S2000 Pro to come back or get the S1000DB?
I have the S1000Db and to be honest almost every track played here sounds better in real world than what i can hear via hifi headphones here. So I guess this is not really a good example. I guess room composition , amp/dac and many more matter. Most important thing before buying speakers is to listen in your own room and with your hardware. Sorry but tests like these don't matter too much.

S2000pro is very dark, i only use s2000pro with treble at maximum. With that equalize tweeter is very sweat. By the way, i miss your reviews. I am very excited for the news you have for us :)
Dear DS, you are doing a freaking good job. After spending a few hours in your channel I ordered my pair of S1000DB yesterday, hopefully will receive them by friday to blow my wife's mind with the audio quality of these beauties. The only question from me is why did you drop the retrowave track? You are/were the only one who played it in tests and it gave you a gazillion points in my books, but without it I am still watching. Is it just me or the S2000 PRO is superior in every way, except maybe it needs the tweeter to be +1dB louder? I seem to hear better bass repsonse(control, transients and weight), cleaner midrange and clearer highes(just maybe -1dB under neutral/linear). Where i live S1000DB are 257euro and S2000 PRO 343 euro, while JSB LSR305 cost 214euro. I just can't decide between them from your recordings. If the LSR305 had bluetooth and remote controlled volume, i'd buy them on the spot even if they costed as much as S1000DB. I don't know if to buy S1000/S2000 for the bluetooth/optical/remote features, the S2000 insted of the S1000db for the better midrange and EQ feature, or LSR305 for the SQ and cheaper price. I've listened to your tests through Sennheiser HD600 headphones and a good dac/amp. I'm used to really high quality speakers, but i'm not expecting to be blown by 200-350E ones, just a balanced sound with no significant issues. I'll be using them on stands, for music, movies, i don't care about bass extension from a 5,5" driver, i care more about speed/transient attack/control.
I think that S2000pro in my opinion is a total packadge, great build quality, solid sound and almost all the features one needs. One big advantage S2000pro have over JBL is that it has almost no hiss, unlike JBL. I would go for S2000pro ;) S1000DB is more of a party speaker in comparison to both, less neutral but also quite fun at the same time
Digital Stereophony I'm not into coloration that much. I noticed the S1000db has a little buzz coming from the enclosure(br port maybe) that i hear while playing music, the upper midrange seems a little bit recessed and the highs are a little tizzy/splashy in the 3-8khz region compaired to S2000 that seem to have just a smidge to little higs but better quality and more linear midrane. As i've said, i'm used to high end floorstander speakers, these will be just some toys. I'm just affraid that they'll have noticable problems, sounding too muffled/shouty or too slow bass response. Of course the comparisons are made based on a youtube recording, i can't A/B them in the store unfortunately.
Yes, the EQ is subtle yet effective. Together with tone controls for treble and bass, there is quite a big room for shaping of the sound to Your liking
Finally! As I hear/read all the time the S2000Pro are too dark sounding, a good frequency response analysis of both is really necessary becasueat least one is really improper.
Fergutor so many factors can alter the sound, the room, the mic, TH-cam compresion etc, for me the difference is 50 dollars so I’ll go for the s2 the difference is in the crossover which is very good in those ones but in the case that the price difference is bigger I will go for the s1
Seems to me that the other speaker exaggerates the treble, which is common to think that it sounds better but then you hear the extra treble in all songs and listening fatigue sets in. Neutrality should be the goal, always.
I cant tell much improvement from the pro, if any, so the DB should win on the price. Maybe the pro sounds slightly warmer and with more character but that is too close to justify the price difference, the 24bits chip are only alluring to the music producer, to the listener it really doesnt matter.
they say the planar tweeter in the 2000 pro is a better faster driver with more definition and resolving power more transient attack blah blah...not noticeably here in youtube..have you heard it in person? is it any better ? have you reproduced some hi res audio some 24 bit flac etc etc?? cos these free samples from youtube DONT sound any good. at least not enough to show any difference.
Just one of the samples is free from TH-cam, Heart Afire to be exact, still high quality file though. The rest is mostly lossless PMC codec WAV files, so if there is very little difference than You would not hear much difference in real life as well

So.. the S2000Pro has medium more present and is more balanced, but with values of 300.00 EUR vs 430.00 EUR, I think if it is not for monitoring, just to listen to music, it is not worth the difference of 43% of cost.

I would choose S2000Pro from the speakers you mentioned. Also consider studio monitors like Mackie MR524 and KRK RP5 G4 with proper interface. How youu will use the speakers? On desk nearfield or more like a TV speakers on stands midfield?
I think that on stands midfield. In my flat is only 2,5-3m from sofa to tv so. About stands, do You think its rly imoortant? Or speakers can stay Just on cupbourd which is under tv? What about r2730db, can they be set to lower bass? On your videos bass of those speakers is too deep and loud and sound isn't enough clear. :D I have the biggest life dilemma :p
R2730DB has bass that can not be tamed IMO, so if You room is not huge than stay away from them. S2000Pro still gets my recommendation for the condistions you describe. They will work just fine next to a TV, below the ear level ,as they have angled front panel that radiates the sound slightly upwards

Your hearing will get more nuanced if you listened longer and focus on an singular aspect (mids, his, lows). The separation is way clearer on the S2000pros. If you just need some good speakes the S1000DBs are good. My s2000Pros are coming soon.
The thing is, the S2000pro can sound better than the S1000DB but that is circumstantial AND you still get that feeling the sound coming off it is somehow altered subtly so you're not getting what is actually there. I hate the S2000Pro for trying to beautify sounds. It's quite perceptible to me. The S1000DB IS VERY VERY GOOD THOUGH. It still has some lack but it's not trying to beautify what you're hearing.
Can't live with the 1000. The 2000 sound good though. 1000 has too much disconnect between mids and uppers and then it's too much sparkle. 2000 tames the sparkle and adds the missing upper mid / lower high.

А мне 2000 показались более детальными и чистыми, но бас как-то перевешивает. А вот на вокзале однозначно заметно. Даже с закрытыми глазами угадывала, когда 2000 включалась.

Hi I can buy LSR305 for 210€, S1000DB 230€ or S2000 Pro 480€ :) Everything is to PC with near/close listening, audio out is chromecast audio, I dont need bluetooth. What do you think is best option?
JBL than. Just remember that JBL has a bit of hiss from the tweeter, nothing outragous but it is audible when the music is not playing. If You are sensitive to that than S1000DB do not have this problem and will be better choice
to me the s2000 sounds like someone threw a blanket over them, clouded , grey, ugly. the S1000 is crisp, clear and lively -- and costs a 1/3rd less than the S2000. The S2000 was alos a failure according to internal soources at Edifier. They tried much harder with the S3000 whch is excellent but very expensive.

s1000 is linear to me. I think so, s2000 doesn't have a good combination of high and mid-bass speakers. The level of high speaker is too low.

Nice. The 2000 has a warmer, smoother sound with a wider sound stage. It also had a much beefier bottom end.

I have the S1000Db and to be honest almost every track played here sounds better in real world than what i can hear via hifi headphones here. So I guess this is not really a good example. I guess room composition , amp/dac and many more matter. Most important thing before buying speakers is to listen in your own room and with your hardware. Sorry but tests like these don't matter too much.

S2000pro is very dark, i only use s2000pro with treble at maximum. With that equalize tweeter is very sweat.

S1000DB yesterday, hopefully will receive them by friday to blow my wife's mind with the audio quality of these beauties. The only question from me is why did you drop the retrowave track? You are/were the only one who played it in tests and it gave you a gazillion points in my books, but without it I am still watching.

Is it just me or the S2000 PRO is superior in every way, except maybe it needs the tweeter to be +1dB louder? I seem to hear better bass repsonse(control, transients and weight), cleaner midrange and clearer highes(just maybe -1dB under neutral/linear). Where i live S1000DB are 257euro and S2000 PRO 343 euro, while JSB LSR305 cost 214euro. I just can't decide between them from your recordings. If the LSR305 had bluetooth and remote controlled volume, i'd buy them on the spot even if they costed as much as S1000DB. I don't know if to buy S1000/S2000 for the bluetooth/optical/remote features, the S2000 insted of the S1000db for the better midrange and EQ feature, or LSR305 for the SQ and cheaper price. I've listened to your tests through Sennheiser HD600 headphones and a good dac/amp. I'm used to really high quality speakers, but i'm not expecting to be blown by 200-350E ones, just a balanced sound with no significant issues. I'll be using them on stands, for music, movies, i don't care about bass extension from a 5,5" driver, i care more about speed/transient attack/control.
I think that S2000pro in my opinion is a total packadge, great build quality, solid sound and almost all the features one needs. One big advantage S2000pro have over JBL is that it has almost no hiss, unlike JBL. I would go for S2000pro ;)
S1000DB is more of a party speaker in comparison to both, less neutral but also quite fun at the same time
Digital Stereophony I'm not into coloration that much. I noticed the S1000db has a little buzz coming from the enclosure(br port maybe) that i hear while playing music, the upper midrange seems a little bit recessed and the highs are a little tizzy/splashy in the 3-8khz region compaired to S2000 that seem to have just a smidge to little higs but better quality and more linear midrane. As i've said, i'm used to high end floorstander speakers, these will be just some toys. I'm just affraid that they'll have noticable problems, sounding too muffled/shouty or too slow bass response. Of course the comparisons are made based on a youtube recording, i can't A/B them in the store unfortunately.
S2000pro may suprise You, it is not a toy. It has some port chuffing audible on high levels with bass heavy content though, same as S1000DB.

Yes, the EQ is subtle yet effective. Together with tone controls for treble and bass, there is quite a big room for shaping of the sound to Your liking

Finally! As I hear/read all the time the S2000Pro are too dark sounding, a good frequency response analysis of both is really necessary becasueat least one is really improper.
Fergutor so many factors can alter the sound, the room, the mic, TH-cam compresion etc, for me the difference is 50 dollars so I’ll go for the s2 the difference is in the crossover which is very good in those ones but in the case that the price difference is bigger I will go for the s1
Seems to me that the other speaker exaggerates the treble, which is common to think that it sounds better but then you hear the extra treble in all songs and listening fatigue sets in.
Neutrality should be the goal, always.
I cant tell much improvement from the pro, if any, so the DB should win on the price. Maybe the pro sounds slightly warmer and with more character but that is too close to justify the price difference, the 24bits chip are only alluring to the music producer, to the listener it really doesnt matter.
they say the planar tweeter in the 2000 pro is a better faster driver with more definition and resolving power more transient attack blah blah...not noticeably here in youtube..have you heard it in person? is it any better ? have you reproduced some hi res audio some 24 bit flac etc etc?? cos these free samples from youtube DONT sound any good. at least not enough to show any difference.
Just one of the samples is free from TH-cam, Heart Afire to be exact, still high quality file though. The rest is mostly lossless PMC codec WAV files, so if there is very little difference than You would not hear much difference in real life as well

Hi DS, am from Canada, have been waiting for S1000MKII to have a sales price but it doesn't have a Black Friday price or so still on its original price which is 479.99, so sad. But S1000DB now is 399.99 and original price was 449.99, LOL this tortures me so much I have no idea how to choose, could you give me some suggestions? Thank you so much.

Get S1000MKII instead of S2000Pro. S1000MKII is more balanced soundwise and has newer Bluetoot on board. Plus it is a bit chaper

So.. the S2000Pro has medium more present and is more balanced, but with values of 300.00 EUR vs 430.00 EUR, I think if it is not for monitoring, just to listen to music, it is not worth the difference of 43% of cost.
For nearfield use I would still go with S2000Pro, for TV use S1000DB is more than enough...

I would choose S2000Pro from the speakers you mentioned. Also consider studio monitors like Mackie MR524 and KRK RP5 G4 with proper interface. How youu will use the speakers? On desk nearfield or more like a TV speakers on stands midfield?
I think that on stands midfield. In my flat is only 2,5-3m from sofa to tv so. About stands, do You think its rly imoortant? Or speakers can stay Just on cupbourd which is under tv? Any diffrence if they aren't on the ears level?

What about r2730db, can they be set to lower bass? On your videos bass of those speakers is too deep and loud and sound isn't enough clear. :D

R2730DB has bass that can not be tamed IMO, so if You room is not huge than stay away from them. S2000Pro still gets my recommendation for the condistions you describe. They will work just fine next to a TV, below the ear level ,as they have angled front panel that radiates the sound slightly upwards

Does somebody notice a chirring in the S1000DB in the bass test at the end of the video? what is that? i was almost concluding that the price difference is not worth it in my case so i was gonna pick the s1000db, but hearing that freaked me out, now i dont know!
What You hear is bass reflex port chuffing. It is audible with bass heavy music at high levels
Edifier must improve on that plannar tweeter on the s2000. I am not impressed at all. And i am edifier fan number 1. To me S1000 is the best buy.

Sorry to say, I can't hear any difference between the two speakers when you were playing the first 3 or 4 tracks
Your hearing will get more nuanced if you listened longer and focus on an singular aspect (mids, his, lows). The separation is way clearer on the S2000pros. If you just need some good speakes the S1000DBs are good. My s2000Pros are coming soon.

The thing is, the S2000pro can sound better than the S1000DB but that is circumstantial AND you still get that feeling the sound coming off it is somehow altered subtly so you're not getting what is actually there. I hate the S2000Pro for trying to beautify sounds. It's quite perceptible to me. The S1000DB IS VERY VERY GOOD THOUGH. It still has some lack but it's not trying to beautify what you're hearing.

The two are extremely similar but the 1000 has slightly less bass. It has a smaller tweeter so that is no big deal. The 1000 is much better value.
Can't live with the 1000. The 2000 sound good though. 1000 has too much disconnect between mids and uppers and then it's too much sparkle. 2000 tames the sparkle and adds the missing upper mid / lower high.

Юрий m ха ха ха, говно что для тебя? Это есть относительное восприятие! Они практически одинаковы, купи 2000 все равно забудешь как звучит 1000, она и дороже и пусть эта мысль греет и каждый раз напоминает, что выбор был сделан правильный ;)
А мне 2000 показались более детальными и чистыми, но бас как-то перевешивает. А вот на вокзале однозначно заметно. Даже с закрытыми глазами угадывала, когда 2000 включалась.

Hi I can buy LSR305 for 210€, S1000DB 230€ or S2000 Pro 480€ :) Everything is to PC with near/close listening, audio out is chromecast audio, I dont need bluetooth. What do you think is best option?
JBL than. Just remember that JBL has a bit of hiss from the tweeter, nothing outragous but it is audible when the music is not playing. If You are sensitive to that than S1000DB do not have this problem and will be better choice

to me the s2000 sounds like someone threw a blanket over them, clouded , grey, ugly. the S1000 is crisp, clear and lively -- and costs a 1/3rd less than the S2000. The S2000 was alos a failure according to internal soources at Edifier. They tried much harder with the S3000 whch is excellent but very expensive.

I read you can you make S2000 sound more like S1000 by enabling dynamic EQ if you want, but you can't make S1000 sound like S2000. I can buy the S2000 for only 50€ more.
