      Having owned 100+ sets of speakers, i recently got the s2000 pro and their very good, no complaints, gets surprisingly low and good on any genre and very easy to use, and can get pretty darn loud if you need to, and cabinets are rock solid, by the way it has a 5 1/2 inch woofer, manufacturer states it as 5.5 anyway. Hope that helps some people on them, sound great and their keepers for me.

      Sorry to hear about the fire Joe N Tell, but you can take this "opportunity" to fill up a new storage with new gear! If you still have the S2000Pro, you should test it out against the newer S2000MKIII. Same price point, but from what I gather, it is a Much better speaker.

    Thanks a lot Joe, I just bought the Edifier 1280 speakers with your advice and WOW!! - I'm completely amazed!! the sound is marvelous, it feels as if the musicians sit just in front of me, here in my working room. It is with no doubt the most beautiful and rich sound I've ever heard or imagined to hear form small speakers. Thanks a lot, it makes me enjoy good music again.

    For a desk? I got the S351DB for my living room. Just moved into a new house and had many other priorities, didn't want to spend to much but have some decent sound for the moment. And they're definitely staying there :). Way better than I expected for the TV and also music. You can feel the bass in your chest. Best speakers I've ever heard in this price range.

    I love the way that you described "being able to locate the sub" on s350DB due to it handling >80Hz!
    Having nothing close to good audio in my life, and little experience with exposure to different systems; this is a super helpful way to justify how a dedicated subwoofer might not be as useful as necessary as I though. Or at least something to consider with 2.1 systems that I am looking in to.

    I bought the s350db exactly because I wanted small speakers for my computer table.. I would stick with the r2750t If I had more room, the difference in sound quality is quite small and quite a jump in price, you only notice the stronger bass from the subwoofer. The 1280 are a bit weaker compared to the 2750 but a nice budget option for decent sound.

    I paid $80 for a pair of R1280Ts speakers. The "s" indicates a sub output. Remote works fine. Absolutely pleased with these! The sub out enacts an internal high pass crossover that seems to be adequate. Complete overkill for my computer!

  • @axeami1354
    @axeami1354 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    the 350db is fairly good for movies in small to medium sized room , no it's no multi speaker surround but it does give surprisingly good separation for the price, thanks the the sub they definitely get loud enough to shake the ground on explosions and the like which the other two just can't by themselves. honestly i recon a couple of the s2000s up front, a pair of rt1280s behind and one of edifires dedicated subs would probably make for a great surround set up. though for that sort of price you could probably get a mid range yamaha receiver and full set of wharfedale diamond 9.1s.

    Would love to watch a review of the r1850db in your style.

    • @chethankp3936
      @chethankp3936 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If anybody wants to know, I ordered both. The 1850db had a much superior tweeter than the 1280db.
      The 1850db plays highs much more easily and they are much more clear and tight. 1280db seems to have harsh highs (maybe because of bad source as well, but that's what I observed).
      This difference is only very apparent while listening to music. But for movies and gaming, the 1280db is extremely good.

    Hey Joe,
    I stumbled onto your channel, and I love the way you review sound products - thank you!
    I had an Onkyo 5.1 setup a few years back which sounded nice, and recently moved to a different country where I bought a Yamaha amp with 5.1 satellite speakers.
    I absolutely hate seeing cables, and the 5.1 setup has too many cables for me. I prefer clarity and bass in my sound rather than the surround sound effect, so I got rid of my Yamaha 5.1.
    Recently, I ordered a Yamaha YAS209 soundbar, and I'm cautiously optimistic for when it arrives. It never actually occurred to me to just use bookshelf speakers with my receiver. Oh well!
    When I saw the Edifier S350DB system, I thought I may have made a mistake going for the soundbar, but I'll see how it sounds once it arrives.
    Is it possible to control the chromecast/TV volume with my chromecast remote if I use an optical connection to the Edifier speakers?
    When my soundbar arrives, my setup will look like this:
    Yamaha YAS209

    • @joentell
      @joentell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a crazy use of arrows to make a diagram. I had to respond because I can tell you took time to draw that out.
      I think Chromecasts have internal volume control via software, so I believe it would work via optical.
      It looks like you're planning to use the Sony TV as your HDMI switcher. I think either setup would work as long as you're using the Chromecast for volume. It's not really ideal because sometimes, content that's decoded in Dolby Digital is different in volume to stereo PCM content from my experience. I've found that there are huge fluctuations in volume when I've tried to use the Chromecast to control volume.
      I would suggest you take a look at the Klipsch The Fives when they're on sale around the $500 price range because it has HDMI ARC.

    Curious about the tweeter performance of the 350 DB. Would be great if you give your thoughts about the tweeter specifically.

    Hey Joe cheers for the review. Speaking about subs - any chance you can make a video or test some Rythmik Audio subs? Seems like an interesting tech they developed.... You were pretty dismissive of the S350DB. However, the build quality is high, and in my tests sounded better the The Fives (by a mile) and the Q acoustics M20 for music and movies. The S350DB also has more features like dedicated treble and bass knows, and more inputs.

      @joentell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty happy with these M-Audio M3-6's (3-ways) + a pair of SVS PB-1000 subs ran through an Emotiva DC-1 along with some GIK full range bass traps. It's always risky with cheaper systems who depart from soft domes and then try to incorporate a "sub" with puny satellites.
