  • This video is made for the purpose to share the knowledge on Diesel Generator A Check.
In this video, DG (Diesel Generator) A Check interview question and answers have been discussed.
Below questions are being asked in the interview related to DG and are most essential,
    1) Why DG (Diesel Generator) has two batteries
    2) Batteries are connected in series or parallel connection
    3) Why Battery connected in series
    4) How to check Diesel Engine Oil
    5) Why Oil is used in the Engine of DG
    6) How Coolant plays a vital role and how to check the coolant level
    7) Oil Filter and Fuel filter purpose of use
    8) What is fuel and water separator
    9) Purpose of Air filter
    10) Important points to remember while performing A check
Why Batteries are connected in Series: - Two batteries are connected in series because in the series connection Voltage gets added (12v+12v= 24v) wherein Parallel connection Voltage remains the same and Current gets added.
Why DG requires two batteries: - For DG we required 24v to start/kick the Crankshaft to rotate at 150 RPM hence required two batteries each of 12v in series to achieve 24v.
How to Check Engine oil:- Engine oils need a regular check as oil may lose its Insulating property. And also the sufficient diesel oil to be available in the Engine oil sump. To check this, we need to pull the gauge strip from the oil sump and to check the level of oil, where on gauge oil level is displayed in Low, Medium, and High. Oil always to be available at High.
Why Oil is used in the Diesel Generator:- Oil is used as a cooling property of Engine because when the piston is in operation they cause excessive heat due to rotation and to cool them down engine Oil plays a vital role.
Why Coolant are being used:- Coolant is another medium to cool down the Engine wherein the Radiator tank we check the coolant level and it should be always full.
The level can be checked by opening the cap of the radiator tank.
Fuel and water separator:- Fuel and water separator to be connected in between the Diesel tank and Engine. Here the water weight is high compare to fuel hence while flowing through the fuel and water separator fuel remains on the top and water content flows down in the separator sump.
Oil Filter and Fuel Filter:- Oil filter used to filter the oil which flows from oil sump to throughout the engine to cool down the engine heat. Fuel filter used to filter the diesel/Fuel being used in DG.
Air Filter:- Air filters used to prevent the dust particles to enter inside the Piston Chamber.
Points to remember while performing A Check:- This is important to remember that prior to A Check we should check the AUTO/MANUAL switch and not forget to set the Switch in Manual Mode as ignoring this can be lead to a major accident while we do A Check.
