This surprised me as I have the exact same tent and have not experienced any such issues. The inside of my tent remains bone dry after many hours of downpour.
So it's the quality assurance that lacks, which slightly makes things better but still not enough to recommend buying it since you might be among the unlucky ones.
Nice review. I think you got unlucky there, because I received this tent a few days ago, and have just left it out for two days of the heaviest rain I can ever remember, and there's no sign of a single drop of water inside. I'm quite impressed! I did find the floor a bit flimsy, however, and water was on the point of seeping through from below. I bought a footprint to hopefully rectify that, although it would be better if they just built in a more-substantial groundsheet. Regarding price, I bought mine from Geertop's website, which cost me only £62 with no import duties from China, so quite a saving on the Amazon price. Cheers!
I have used my geertop 1 person bivy on 2 separate occasions, each over a 4 day's and 3 night's period. I'm in Hawaii and so it rains pretty heavy during the night and mostly sunny blue sky during the day. Luckily haven't had any issues with rain/water getting into my bivy Wich is the same as in this video. By the way I was so impressed with my geertop 1 man bivy tent, that I also bought a second tent for my son, however he has only used his bivy once and he hasn't had any issues either.
Got this tent for half the price, will reseal the seams with liquid sealant just to be sure. Thanks for the heads up and for helping driving the price down I guess.
Thank you for going back out in the rain to review with a proper rain test! We really have had a lot of rain recently lol. I’m in Manchester and it feels like it’s not stopped raining!
Had to be done bro! In hindsight it’s always fun to do these tests, at the time though, it’s pretty miserable 😂. Hope the rain eases up there in Manchester bud! Thanks as always my friend, hope you’re doing well 👍
so I picked one of these up cheap (£50, June 2022) seemed to be the last green one on Amazon, so maybe they were stock dumping. I'm a bit concerned now following the poor rain performance but I have silicone-based tent spray (from halfords I think) it worked pretty well on my other tents when they got older, so I'll give the geertop a good douse and see if it helps. I pack a tarp as well so if things get super bad I can throw it over I guess. Shame really, out of all the purposes of a tent, keeping you dry is number one on my list!
Hi - not sure if it's in this video but in your original review of the Geertop Bivy you had the tent set up wrong. Look at 1:40 where you can see you neglected to put the front pole thru the big arch sleeve, and you can see the sleeve lying flat in front of the pole. This doesn't change the waterproofness of the tent, but it does the interior volume.
I feel your pain.I have slept in a wet tent and that my friend is a morale damaging experience. Don’t give up on this tent. Purchase a nylon tent silicone waterproofing spray and spray everything especially the seems. I have done this to any tent I have ever used without fail and have never been wet again. Cheers. John in Alberta Canada. 👍
always advisable to make sure the fly sheet isn't in direct contact with the tent otherwise water can seep through the tent membrane making it worth as well as seems that maybe wearing down also
I have the geertop hooped bivvy. It’s okay if you’re new to bivvy camping, but it has condensation problems, and the ventilation does nothing against Aussie heat waves. I’ve decided to switch to the TAS bivvy with poles (this is what they call their hooped bivvy) and a good old fashioned hammock for the warmer months.
I almost bought this tent/bivy yesterday during prime day. I found your first video and just didn’t buy it. I have never used any seam seal system or water proofing spray/soak system, would one of those have helped. I only ask as I really like the look, size and weight. I currently use a Walmart 2 man with my son. It is fine but it does get damp if you touch the walls.
Thank you for your review, it could save a life! To everyone out there, all ways test your gear before you get out in the wild. It could save your life!

Slept in 1 of these 4 the last 10 months fishing in all kinds of storms and never got wet 👌used to leave it set up all day on the canal and just jumped in it after work 🤭🎣🎣 sick little tents if no problems
Truthfully, I don't trust any lightweight tent to be waterproof, all of them will wet out at a certain point and begin to sweat water through them. The good part of a bivy tent is it's quick to assemble and lightweight to carry, but you will have to waterproof tarp or plastic over it to prevent wet out, as you will with most any lightweight material tent of any size.
Not good at all? Certainly changed my mind on purchasing it. You'd think they'd put these through waterproof tests, but apparently not? £100 quid to get soaked?
Several problems with this video 1) This is NOT the bivy tent. The bivi tent is much much smaller. What you have here is the 1 person tent (as indicated on their website). 2) Guylines issues: Everyone knows you MUST try your gear at home before going out. This, to learn how to use it and see if there's anything missing or things you have to provide from your side. Besides that, many manufacturers will add several ADDITIONAL anchor points for guylines. If so, the end user must get additional guylines. You obviously didn't do any of those basics steps. 3) Setup: The guylines are not designed to stretch a tent properly. You blamed your bad setup on the guylines.. 4) Have you pre-conditioned the tent? Obviously not. Most low tech tents needs to be conditioned. This means to soak the seams and let them dry so the stitching swell and seal the seams. It's also a good idea to add some seam sealer to those tents. 5) @5:40 we see a setup problem. The fly is not stretch. A perfect condition to allow water to get through... I'm not saying the tent wasn't without default. But you missed all the important and basic points. Therefore, your test is not reliable.
I got this tent been out in an absolute monsoon ankle deep outside tent bone dry in it .u not put a guide rope on the end one both ends needed bad erection bollox review

Several problems with this video
1) This is NOT the bivy tent.
All tents must be water treated from time to time.
What a shame. I was beginning to like this tent.
Definitely a shame. Would've made a great tent!
I think I'll just stick to my USGI mmss sleep system. Water proof. Goretex bivy she'll on my sleep system. Lol
Hätte diese Review früher sehen müssen. Der erste kleine Schauer und es Tropft spürbar in das Zelt hinein..
Enttäuschend für den Preis:(
That's got to be the worst $100 you ever spent on a tent... Lol

I always enjoy videos that expose fraudulent products. You save other people out there from wasting their hard-earned. 👍
As I enjoy exposing them my friend! Well at the time it can be a pretty miserable experience but in hindsight, it’s always quite fun 😂. Absolutely agree bud, hopefully any prospective buyers will catch this video before buying! Thanks for your comment my friend, hope you’re well!
